Western Rail, Inc.

3, GP20, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1960, #25564, FN 7583-4, as Great Northern 2003, Class GP-20.  It became Burlington Northern 2003, Class GP-20, in 1970 and retired in August 1986.  It was sold as Indiana Hi-Rail Corp 203 in December 1986 and became Wabash Central RR 3 in 1999. It was sold as WRIX 3 in 2006 and upgraded it.

13, SD9u, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1957, #23171, FN 5532-17, as New York Chicago & St Louis 356, Class ERX-17A.  It became Norfolk & Western 2356 in 1965 and renumbered 2956 in 1983.  It was rebuilt as Norfolk Southern 56 in May 1989 and sold as WRI 13 in 2008.

1st 23, SW1200, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1955, #20681, FN 4317-4, as Chicago & Illinois Midland 20, Class SW-1200.  It was sold as David J Joseph Co  23 and resold to WRI.  It was sold as Central Manitoba Ry 4080.

2nd 23, SW9, was built by Electro-Motive in December 1951, #15607, FN 6342-2, as Anaconda Copper Co 23.  It became Inspiration Consolidated Copper Co 23 in 1977 and sold as Arizona Eastern Ry 23 in 1988.  It was sold as WRIX 23 and leased to Frontier Rail Corp.

102, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in September 1956, #22050, FN 5467-34, as Chesapeake & Ohio 6142, Class MRSE-17.  It was reclassified Class GP-9 in 1964 and sold as Huron & Eastern 102.  It was sold as Idaho Northern & Pacific 102 in November 1993 and returned as HESR 102 in 1994.  It was sold as WRIX 102 in 1995 and sold to Smoky Hill Railway & Historical Society as SHRX 102 in 1996.

251, GP35, was built by Electro-Motive in March 1964, #29224, FN 5665-10, as Norfolk & Western 224,  It was retired in December 1990 and sold as Indiana & Ohio Ry 251 in March 1993.  It was tranferred as Indiana Southern RR 251 in 2004 and sold as WRIX 251 in 2008.

324, GP35, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1964, #28972, FN 7709-12 as Chicago & North Western. It was retired on August 16, 1990, and sold to DMVW as 324 on August 27, 1990.  It was sold as WRIX 324 in 2011 and sold to Webb Asset Management as WAMX 3534 in 2015.

325, GP35, was built by Electro-Motive in March 1965, #29778, FN 7763-19, as C&NW 862. It was retired on August 16, 1990, and sold as DMVW 862 on August 27, 1990.  It was renumbered 325.

376, F40-3, was built by Electro-Motive in June 1981, #807050-16, FN 807050-16, as National Railway Passenger Corp 376, F40PH.   It was rebuilt as Canadian American RR 463 in 2004 and sold as Harsco Track Technologies 463 in 2004.  It was marked as Fairmont Tamper FTSX 463 in 2005 and sold as Titan Rail 376 in 2009.  It was sold as WRIX 376 in 2015.

401, SW9, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1952, #16209, FN 4154-2, as Detroit & Toledo Shore Line 121, Class ES.  It later became Grand Trunk Western 6121 and later sold to Rail Switching Service as RSSX 401.  It was resold as WRIX 401.

439, SD9, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1955, #20214, FN 5365-50, as Southern Pacific 5436, Class DF-122.  It was renumbered 3914, Class EF618-3, in 1965 and rebuilt as 4439, Class EF618-1.  It was sold to Rail Link as 439 and leased as Tacoma Eastern Ry 439 in 1995.  It was sold as Livingston Mountain Locomotive Works as LMLX 439 in 1998 and leased to Portland & Western RR.  It was leased to Lewis & Clark Ry and leased as Yreka Western RR 439.  It was sold as WRIX 439.

562, SSB1200, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1953, #18097, FN 4219-12, as Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe 2431, Class 2418.  It was renumbered 1431, Class 1418, in August 1974 and retired on February 18, 1977.  It was rebuilt at San Bernardino as 1231, Class 1214, on June 27, 1978, and traded in to Amtrak as 562 on September 8, 1984.  It was sold as WRIX 562 in 2009.

602, SW8, was built by Electro-Motive on June 1952, #17230, FN 6443-2, as Bamberger RR 602.  It was sold as YW 602 in 1958 and transferred as Oregon Pacific & Eastern 602 in 1978.  It was sold to Oregon Pacific RR 602 in 1994 but never relettered.  It was sold as WRIX 602 in July 2010.

803, SW8, was built by Electro-Motive in March 1953, #17160, FN 4165-2, as Texas & New Orleans 13, Class DF-302.  It was reclassified Class DS-602, in 1963, and became Southern Pacific 1105, Class ES408-2, in 1966.  It was sold as Lewis & Clark Ry 80 in 1984 and sold as East Portland Traction Co 803 in 1996.  It became OPRR 803 in 1997 and sold as WRIX 803 in June 2010.

1104, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in February 1956, #21432, FN 5425-15, as Northern Pacific 260.  It became Burlington Northern 1883, Class GP-9, in 1970 and sold to WRI as IRLX 1104.  It was leased as North Star Steel Co 1104 and leased as Wilmer Rail Services 1104.  It was sold to Titan Rail and rebuilt as 1714.

1109, SW8, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1953, #17331, FN 4180-1, as Southern Pacific 4604, Class DF-302.  It was reclassified as Class DF-602 in 1963 and renumbered as 1109, Class ES409-2, in 1966.  It was sold as North Star Steel Co in March 1987 and sold to Western Railroad Supply as IRLX 1109 in 1992.

1270, SW9u, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1951, #12552, FN 4074-2, as Missouri Pacific 9171. It was renumbered 1233 in 1962 and came to Great Southwest RR about 1979. It was later returned to the MoPac and then rebuilt at Omaha on November 14, 1984, as Union Pacific 1270. It was retired on April 12, 1997,  and sold to Nevada Industrial Switching in June 1997. It was then leased to North American Fly Ash Co as 1270.  It became Mineral Solutions in June 1998 and sold as David J Joseph Co DJPX 1270 on September 1, 1999.  It leased in January 2003.  It was sold to Western Rail as WRIX 1270 and sold to Professional Locomotive Services as PLSX 1270 in May 2007.  It was sold as Steel Dynamics Inc 40.

1400, GP7u, was built by Electro-Motive in October 1950, #11047, FN 5029-16, as Great Northern 621, Class GP-7.  It became BN 1521, Class GP-7, in 1970 and rebuilt as 1400, Class GP-10, in August 1974.   It became Burlington Northern Santa Fe 1400, Class GP-10, in February 2002, and sold as WRIX 1600 on December 26, 2008.

1500, SW1500, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1972, #4608-73, FN 4608-73, as Southern Pacific 2663, Class ES415L-4.  It was sold as Fletcher Challenge Canada 1500 and sold as Catalyst Paper Co 1501 in 1996.  It was sold as WRIX 1500.

1616, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in June 1955, #20315, FN 5384-11, as  Northern Pacific  228.  It became Burlington Northern 1854, Class GP-9, in 1970 and Burlington Northern Santa Fe 1616, Class GP-9, in October 1998.  It was retired in November 2000 and sold to Coast Engine & Equipment in March 2003.  It was sold as Tri-City & Olympia RR 1616 and resold as WRI 1616 in 2007.  It was sold as BioFuel Energy 1616 in 2008

1617, GP7, was built by Electro-Motive in December 1953, #18977, FN 5312-9, as Chicago Burlington & Quincy 261. It became BN 1617, Class GP-7, in 1970.  It was retired in August 1983 and sold as Great Western Ry 1617 in September 1983.  It was sold as Lake County RR 1617 in 1996 and sold as WRIX 1617.  It was sold to Northern Illinois &Wisconsin Ry as NIWX 1617 in 2010.

1761, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1954, #19110, FN 5320-20, as Union Pacific 224.  It was retired in February 1979 and sold to Morrison Knudsen on October 1, 1979.  It was rebuilt on March 21, 1980, as San Diego & Arizona Eastern 101 and later transferred as Kyle RR 101.  It later was transferred as San Joaquin Valley RR 101 and sold to WRI as 1761.  It later became Lake County RR 1761 in October 2005.

2003, GP38M, was built by Electro-Motive in February 1964, #28871, FN 7695-37, as Southern Pacific 7444, Class DF-623, GP35.  It was renumbered 6556, Class EF425-1, in 1966, in 1977.  It was sold as CLN Industries 2003 as GP38M for New Brunswick Southern Ry 2003. It was sold to Joseph Transportation DJPX 2003.  It was sold as WRIX 2003 and sold as Lake State Ry 2003.  It was rebuilt by Metro East Industries in 2015 as 304, road slug.

2253, GP30, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1963, #28314, FN 7653-11, as Chicago & North Western 820. It was retired on December 12, 1988, and sold to Fox River Valley RR as 820 on January 12, 1989.  It became Wisconsin Central Ltd 2253 and sold as WRIX 2253.

2795, GP38, was built by Electro-Motive in February 1970, #36043, FN 7240-43, as Southern Ry 2795.  It was sold as WRI 2795 and sold as Georgia Southwestern Ry 3802.

2891, SD40T-2, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1975, #756047-7, FN 756047-7, as Denver Rio Grande & Western 5362, Class EF630D-2. It became Union Pacific 4049, Class SD40T-2, on March 19, 1999, and was renumbered 8619 on April 16, 2000. It became 2891 on January 9, 2007.  It was sold to as WRIX 2891 in 2010 and resold to Northern Illinois & Western as NIWX 2891 in 2012.

2938, SD40T-2, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1980, #786265-39, FN 786265-39, as Southern Pacific 8268, Class EF630-11.  It became Union Pacific 2938 on December 18, 2005, and sold as WRIX 2938 in November 2011. 

3001, SD40-2, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1972, #5819-16, FN 5819-16, as Union Pacific 3188.  It was retired on January 24, 2008, and sold as Larry's Truck Equipment Co 3001.  It was leased as Utah Southern RR 3001 on October 16, 2008.  It was sold as WRIX 3001 in January 2012.

3511, GP35. was built by Electro-Motive in March 1964, #29223, FN 5665-9, as Norfolk & Western 223.  It was retired in March 1991 and sold as Great Smoky Mountain RR 223 in August 1991.  It was sold as Northern Plains RR 3511 in 2005 and sold as WRIX 3511 in 2012.

3529, SW1200, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1958, #24041, FN 4410-15, as Northern Pacific 177.  It became Burlington Northern 177, Class SW-12, in 1970 and became Burlington Northern Santa Fe 3529, Class SW-12, in July 1998.  It was sold to WRI in December 2003.

4509, GP9. was built by Electro-Motive in January 1957, #22857, FN 5514-11, as Grand Trunk Western 4509, Class GRG-17k.  It was rebuilt in 1971 without train heat and reclassified GR-17k.  It was renumbered 4509 on January 12, 1997, and retired on March 19, 1998.  It was sold to WRI in 1998 and sold as Worthington Steel Co 4509.

4917, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1957, #22865, FN 5514-11, as GTW 4917, Class GRG-17k. It was rebuilt in 1971 without train heat and reclassified GR-17k.  It was renumbered 4517 in 1997 and retired in 1998.  It was sold to WRI and sold as Lansing Grain Co 4917.

6323, GP35u, was built by Electro-Motive in February 1964, #28491, FN 7695-30, as Southern Pacific 7437, Class DF-623.  It was renumbered 6549, Class EF425-1, in 1966 and rebuilt in 1979 by Morrison Knudsen as 6323, Class EF425-K01.  It was sold to Western Rails as WRIX 6323 and resold to Watco Inc  as WAMX 3535.

8319, GP9m, was built by Electro-Motive in December 1955, #20761, FN 5409-8. as Illinois Central 9125.  It was rebuilt at Paducah as 7987 in April 1973.  It was sold as Paducah & Louisville 7987 and renumbered 8319.  It was sold as WRIX 8319 in 2008.
