Electro-Motive GP38 Diesels

Alabama Great Southern 2716 was built in September 1969, #35246, FN 7189-1. It was renumbered 2877 and later as 2732.  It became Norfolk Southern 2732, Class GP38, in 1982.  It was rebuilt as NS 5607, Class GP38-2, in October 2005.

SR 2718 was built in September 1969, #35248, FN 7189-3.  It was sold as Locomotive Leasing Partners 2001 and rebuilt by VMV Enterprises as New England Central RR 3808, GP38-3, in 1998.  It was transferred as Cape Breton & Central Nova Scotia RR 3808 and transferred as North Carolina & Virginia RR 3808.  It was transferred as Georgia Southwestern RR 3808 and transferred as Virgina Southern RR 3808.  It was sold as Vermont Ry 3808 in 2011 and renumbered 207 in January 2013

AGS 2720 was built in September 1969, #35250, FN 7189-5.  It was sold as LLPX 2720 in 1998. It was rebuilt at VMV in 1998, GP38-3, and leased to RailTex in 1998. It became Indiana & Ohio as 3800 and became CBNS 3800 and later as Dallas Garland & NorthEastern as 3800 in March 2000.

AGS 2722 was built in October 1959, #35252, FN 7189-7.  It was sold as LLPX 2003 in 1998 and was Temple & Central Texas Ry 2003.

SR 2723 was built in October 1969, #35253, FN 7189-8.  It was sold as LLPX 2004 in 1998.  It was rebuilt at VMV in 1998, GP38-3, as  Central Oregon & Pacific 3810.

SR 2725 was built in October 1969, #35255, FN 7189-10.  It became NS 2725, Class GP38, and rebuilt as 5580, Class GP38-2, in January 2004.  It was retired on October 15, 2013, and sold to First Union Rail as FURX 5580.

SR 2726 was built in October 1969, #35256, FN 7189-11.  It was sold as LLPX 2005.  It was rebuilt at VMV in 1998, GP38-3, as CORP 3811 and sold to CIT Financial Corp as CEFX 3811 in 2011.

SR 2727 was built in October 1969, #32757, FN 7189-12.  It became NS 2727, Class GP38, and rebuilt as 5551, Class GP38-2, in November 2002.  It was retired on December 13, 2013, and sold as FURX 5551.

Cincinnati New Orleans & Texas Pacific 2729 was built in September 1969, #35259, FN 5744-2.  It became NS 2729, Class GP38, and rebuilt as NS 5574, Class GP38-2, in September 2003.  It was retired on January 4, 2014, and sold as FURX 5574.

CNO&TP 2730 was built in September 1969, #35260, FN 5744-3.  It became NS 2730, Class GP38, and rebuilt as NS 5528, Class GP38-2, in February 2002.  It was retired on December 11, 2013, and sold as FURX 5528.

CNO&TP 2731 was built in September 1959, #35261, FN 5744-4.  It was sold as LLPX 2006.

SR 2738 was built in September 1969, #35268, FN 5744-11.  It became NS 2738, Class GP38, and rebuilt as NS 5542, Class GP38-2, in July 2002.  It was retired on October 29, 2013, and sold as FURX 5542.

SR 2739 was built in September 1969, #35269, FN 5744-12. It was sold as LLPX 2007 in 1998.  It was rebuilt at VMV in 1998 as New England Central 3812 and was transferred as Cape Breton & Central Nova Scotia 3812 but not relettered.  It was transferred to Dallas Garland & NorthEastern and not relettered.  It was sold as CEFX 3812 in 2011.

CNO&TP 2740 was built in September 1969, #35270, FN 5744-15,  It became NS 2740, Class GP38, and sold as LLPX 2740.  It was sold as General American Transportation as GMTX 2659 and sold as Carolina Piedmont RR 2899 and renumbered 2007.

CNO&TP 2741 was built in September 1969, #35271, FN 5744-16. It was sold to LLPX as 2741. It was rebuilt at VMV in 1998, GP38-3, and leased to RailTex in 1998. It became I&O as 3801 and became CP&CNS. It served in DG&NO and sold as CEFX 3801 in 2011.  It was sold as Vermont Ry 3801 in 2011 and renumbered 206 in 2012.

CNO&TP 2742 was built in September 1969, #35272, FN 5744-15. It was sold to LLPX as 2742 and then was rebuilt at VMV in 1998 as CORP 3802. It has never served on CORP as of this writing. It is currently on DG&NO.

Carolina & Northwestern 2744 was built in September 1969, #35274, FN 5744-17.  It became NS 2744, Class GP38, and rebuilt as 5555, Class GP38-2, in December 2002.  It was retired on December 18, 2013, and sold as FURX 5555.

SR 2746 was built in September 1969, #35276, FN 5744-19.  It became NS 2746, Class GP38, and was rebuilt as NS 5518, Class GP38-2, in September 2001.  It was retired on December 18, 2013, and sold as FURX 5518.

SR 2749 was built in September 1969, #35279, FN 5744-22.  It became NS 2749, Class GP38, and rebuilt as 5547, Class GP38-2, in 2002.  It was retired on December 23, 2013, and sold as FURX 5547.  It was sold as Twin Cities & Western 2016 in 2017 . 

SR 2750 was built in September 1969, #35280, FN 5744-23.  It became NS 2750, Class GP38  Itwas rebuilt as NS 5571, Class GP38-2, in August 2003 and retired on November 25, 2013.  It was sold as FURX 5571.

SR 2751 was built in September 1969, #35281, FN 5744-24.  It became NS 2751, Class GP38, and rebuilt as 5569, Class GP38-2, in 2003.  It was retired on December 23, 2013, and sold as FURX 5569.

SR 2752 was built in September 1969, #35282, FN 5744-25.  It became NS 2752, Class GP38, and rebuilt as NS 5531, Class GP38-2, in March 2002.  It was destroyed with collision with gasoline truck near Chalmette, LA, on June 24, 2004.  It was retired on January 22, 2008, and scrapped at Juniata in December 2012.

SR 2753 was built in October 1969, #36001, FN 7240-1.  It became NS 2753, Class GP38, and rebuilt as NS 5576, Class GP38-2, in November 2003.  It was retired on October 23, 2013, and sold as FURX 5576.

SR 2754 was built in October 1969, #36002, FN 7240-2.  It became NS 2754, Class GP38, and sold as R J Corman RR 2754 in 2002.

SR 2755 was built in October 1969, #36003, FN 7240-3.  It became NS 2755, Class GP38, and rebuilt as NS 5572, Class GP38-2, in August 2003.

SR 2757 was built in October 1969, #36005, FN 7240-5.  It became NS 2757, Class GP38, and rebuilt as NS 5513, Class GP38-2, in 2001.  It was retired on January 4, 2014 and sold as FURX 5513.

SR 2759 was built in November 1969, #36007, FN 7240-7.  It became NS 2759, Class GP38, and rebuilt as NS 5532, Class GP38-2, in 2002.  It was retired on December 11, 2013, and sold as FURX 5532.

SR 2762 was built in November 1969, #36010, FN 7240-10.  It was sold as LLPX 2008 and leased as Virginia Southern RR 2008.  It was sold as Temple & Central Texas Ry 2008 in 2009 and transferred as Columbia & Cowlitz RR 2008 in 2011.

SR 2764 was built in November 1969, #36012, FN 7240-12.  It was sold as Iowa Interstate RR 603 in February 1996 and sold to OmniTrax in January 2007.

SR 2769 was built in November 1969, #36017, FN 7240-17.  It became NS 2769, Class GP38, and rebuilt as 5635, Class GP38-2, in April 2006.

SR 2772 was built in November 1969, #36020, FN 7240-20. It was sold to LLPP and then rebuilt to GP38-2 standards by Alsthom on November 10, 1998, as Union Pacific 2389. It was assigned 889 in November 18, 2002.  It was returned as GMTX 2107 in 2006.

SR 2773 was built in November 1969, #36921, FN 7240-21.  It was rebuilt by National Railway Equipment Co at Mount Vernon in July 2005 as Canadian Pacific 4625, a GP38-2.

SR 2776 was built in November 1969, #36024, FN 7240-24.  It was sold as Saginaw Valley Ry 301 and transferred as NECR 3869.  It was transferred as Connecticut Southern RR 2038 in June 2014.

SR 2778 was built in January 1970, #36026, FN 7240-26.  It became NS 2778, Class GP38, and rebuilt as 5502, Class GP38-2, in January 2001.  It was retired on January 4, 2014, and was sold as FURX 5502.

SR 2780 was built in January 1970, #36028, FN 7240-28.  It is retired.

SR 2783 was built in January 1970, #36031, FN 7240-31.  It became NS 2783, Class GP38 and rebuilt as NS 5568, Class GP38-2, in 2003.  It was retired on January 5, 2014, and sold as FURX 5568.

SR 2786 was built in January 1970, #36034, FN 7240-34.  It became NS 2786, Class GP38, and rebuilt as 5550, Class GP38-2, in 2002.  It was retired on October 21, 2013, and sold as FURX 5550.

SR 2792 was built in February 1970, #36040, FN 7240-40.  It was sold as R J Corman RR Corp 2792.

SR 2794 was built in February 1970, #36042, FN 7240-42.  It became NS 2794, Class GP38, and rebuilt as 5549, Class GP38-2, in 2002.  It was retired on December 18, 2013, and sold as FURX 5549.

SR 2795 was built in February 1970, #36043, FN 7240-43.  It was sold as Western Rail Inc 2795 and sold as Georgia Southwestern Ry 3802.

SR 2797 was built in February 1970, #36045, FN 7240-45.  It became NS 2797, Class GP38, and was rebuilt as NS 3101, Class GP40-2, in October 2008.

SR 2798, was built in February 1970, #36046, FN 7240-46.  It became NS 2798, Class GP38.  It was rebuilt as NS 5524, Class GP38-2, in December 2001 and retired on November 25, 2013.  It was sold as FURX 5524.

SR 2800 was built in February 1970, #36048. FN 7240-48.  It became NS 2800, Class GP38, and rebuilt as 5508, Class GP38-2, in February 2001.  It was retired on December 18, 2013, and sold as FURX 5508.

SR 2801 was built in March 1970, #36049, FN 7240-49.  It became NS 2801, Class GP38, and rebuilt as 5509, Class GP38-2, in February 2001.  It was retired on January 4, 2014, and sold as FURX 5509.

AGS 2804 was built in March 1970, #36052, FN 7240-52.  It became NS 2804, Class GP38, and rebuilt as NS 5554, Class GP38-2, in December 2002.  It was retired on December 13, 2013, and sold as FURX 5554.

AGS 2806 was built in March 1970, #36054, FN 7240-54.  It became NS 2806, Class GP38.  It was rebuilt as NS 5567, Class GP38-2, in 2003 and retired on December 18, 2013.  It was sold as FURX 5567.

AGS 2808 was built in March 1970, #36056, FN 7240-56.  It became NS 2808, Class GP38, and rebuilt in 2003.  It was retired on December 23, 2013, and sold as FURX 5558.

AGS 2809 was built in March 1970, #36057, FN 7240-57.  It became NS 2809, Class GP38, and rebuilt as NS 5577, Class GP38-2, in November 2003.  It was retired on December 23, 2013, and sold as FURX 5577.

AGS 2811 was built in March 1970, #36059, FN 7240-59.  It was sold as South Central Tennessee RR 739 and transferred as Carolina Piedmont RR 3890.

AGS 2812 was built in March 1970, #36060, FN 7240-60.  It was sold as Helm Leasing Co 3851 and rebuilt by VMV on August 5, 1997, as UP 2425.  It was retired on October 13, 2003, and returned to Helm.

AGS 2815 was built in March 1970, #36063, FN 7240-63.  It became NS 2815, Class GP38.  It was rebuilt as NS 5578, Class GP38-2, in December 2003, and retired on December 18, 2013.  It was sold as FURX 5578.

AGS 2818 was built in March 1970, #36066, FN 7240-66.  It became NS 2828, Class GP38.  It was rebuilt as 5503, Class GP38-2, in January 2001, and retired on November 17, 2013.  It was sold to First Union Rail as FURX 5503.

SOU 2819 was built in March 1970, # 36067, FN 7240-67.  It became NS 2819, Class GP38, and rebuilt 5548, Class SD38-2, in October 2002.  It was retired on October 29, 2013, and sold as FURX 5548. 

Georgia Southern & Florida 2820 was built in March 1970, #36068, FN 7240-68.  It became NS 2820, Class GP38.  It was rebuilt as NS 5610, Class GP38-2, in October 2005.

GSF 2822 was built in March 1970, #36070, FN 7240-70.  It became NS 2822, Class GP38, and rebuilt as NS 5519, Class GP38-2, in 2001.  It was retired on December 23, 2013, and sold as FURX 5519.

SOU 2825 was built in April 1971, #37297, FN 7307-3.  It became NS 2825, Class GP38AC, and rebuilt as NS 5525, Class GP38-2, in 2002.  It was retired on December 23, 2013.

SOU 2826 was built in May 1971, #37298, FN 7307-5.  It became NS 2826, Class GP38AC.

SOU 2830 was built in May 1971, #37302, FN 7307-8.  It became NS 2830, Class GP38AC.

SOU 2836 was built in May 1971, #37308, FN 7307-15.  It was assigned as Norfolk & Western 2836 and became Norfolk Southern 2836, Class GP38AC.  It was rebuilt as NS 5559, Class GP38-2, in February 2003 and retired on October 21, 2013.  It was sold as FURX 5559.

AGS 2837 was built in May 1971, #37309, FN 7307-16.  It was retired.

AGS 2838 was built in May 1971, #37310, FN 7303-17.  It became NS 2838, Class GP38AC, and rebuilt as 735, Class RP-E4C, on May 9, 2012.

AGS 2840 was built in September 1971, #37312, FN 7307-18.  It became NS 2840, Class GP38AC, and rebuilt as 5546, Class GP38-2, in 2002.  It was retired on October 15, 2013, and sold as FURX 5546,

GSF 2841 was built in September 1971, #37313, FN 7303-19.  It became NS 2841, Class GP38AC, and rebuilt as 5556, Class GP38-2,  in 2003.  It was retired on December 23, 2013, and sold as FURX 5556.

GSF 2843 was built in October 1971, #38315, FN 7307-21.  It became NS 2843, Class GP38AC, and was retired.

GSF 2844 was built in October 1971, #38316, FN 7307-22.  It was retired.

SOU 2845 was built in October 1971, #37317, FN 7307-23.  It became NS 2845, Class GP38AC, in 1981 and rebuilt as NS 732, Class RP-E4C, in March 2012.

Central of Georgia 2846, GP38AC,was built in October 1971, #37320, FN 7307-26.  It became Norfolk Southern 2846, Class GP38AC, and rebuilt as NS 5522, Class GP38-2,  in 2001.  It was retired on January 4, 2014, and sold to First Union Rail as FURX 5522.

CG 2849, GP38AC, was built in October 1971, #37321, FN 7307-25.

CG 2850, GP38AC, was built in October 1971, #37322, FN 7307-28.  It became NS 2859, Class GP38AC, and rebuilt as NS 5537, Class GP38-2, in 2002.  It was retired on October 15, 2013, and sold as FURX 5537.

Central of Georgia was built in October 1971, #37320, FN 7307-26.  It became NS 2846, Class GP38AC, and rebuilt as NS 5522, Class GP38-2, in 2001.  It was retired on January 4, 2014, and sold to First Union Rail as FURX 5522.

CG 2850 was built in October 1971, #37322, FN 7307-28.  It became NS 2859, Class GP38, and rebuilt as NS 5537, Class GP38-2, in 2002.  It was retired on October 15, 2013, and sold as FURX 5537.

SOU 2853 was built in August 1971, #37325, FN 5778-3.  It became NS 2853, Class GP38AC, and was rebuilt as 5545, Class GP38-2, in 2002.  It was retired on January 5, 2014, and sold as FURX 5545.  It was sold as Twin Cities & Western 2015 in 2017 . 

SOU 2854 was built in August 1971, #32326, FN 5778-4.  It became NS 2854, Class GP38, and rebuilt as NS 5671, Class GP38-2, in May 2007.

SOU 2855 was built in August 1971, #37327, FN 5778-5.  It was rebuilt as NS 5529, Class GP38-2, in March 2002 and retired on November 17, 2013.  It was sold as FURX 5529 and sold as Twin Cities & Western . 

SOU 2857 was built in August 1971, #37329, FN 5778-7.  It was rebuilt as NS 5517, Class GP38-2, in September 2001.

SOU 2858 was built in August 1971, #37330, FN 5778-8.  It was rebuilt as NS 5540, Class GP38-2, in July 2002 and retired on November 17, 2013.  It was sold as FURX 5540.

SOU 2859 was built in August 1971, #37331, FN 5778-9.  It became NS 2859, Class GP38AC, an rebuilt as 5552, Class GP38-2, in 2002 and retired on October 29, 2013.  It was sold as FURX 5552.

SOU 2861 was built in August 1971, #37333, FN 5778-11.  It became NS 2861, Class GP38AC, and rebuilt as 5515, Class GP38-2, in 2001.  It was retired on December 23, 2013, and sold as FURX 5515.

SOU 2862 was built in September 1971, #37334, FN 5778-12, as Southern 2862, a GP38AC.  It became NS 2862, Class GP38AC, and rebuilt as 5514, Class GP38-2, in 2001.  It was retired on October 15, 2013 and sold to FURX 5514.

SOU 2864 was built  in September 1971, #37336, FN 5778-14.  It became NS 2864, Class GP38AC, and rebuilt as NS 733, Class RP-E4C, on April 2, 2012

SOU 2865 was built in September 1971, #37337, FN 5778-15.  It became NS 2856, Class GP38AC, and rebuilt as NS 5533, Class GP38-2, in 2002.  It was retired on December 18, 2013, and sold as FURX 5533.

SOU 2870 was built in August 1971, #37342, FN 5778-20.  It became NS 2870, Class GP38AC, and rebuilt as 5538, Class GP38-2, in 2002.  It was retired on December 23, 2013 and sold as FURX 5538.

CNO&TP 2875, was built in September 1971, #37347, FN 5778-25,  It became NS 2875, Class GP38AC, and rebuilt as NS 5526, Class GP38-2, in 2002.  It was retired on December 18, 2013, and sold as FURX 5526.

CNO&TP 2876 was built in September 1971, #37348, FN 5778-26.  It became NS 2876, Class GP38AC, and rebuilt as NS 5523, Class GP38-2, in 2001.  It was retired on January 4, 2014, and sold as FURX 5523.

Interstate 2877 was built in September 1971, #37349, FN 5778-27.  It became NS 2877, Class GP38AC, was rebuilt as NS 5539, Class GP38-2, in June 2002.

Carolina & Northwestern 2878 was built in September 1971, #37350, FN 5778-28.  It became NS 2878, Class GP38AC, and rebuilt as NS 734, Class RP-E4C, on May 4, 2012.

CRN 2880 was built in June 1966, #31782, FN 7852-1, as Norfolk Southern Ry 2001.  It was acquired by Southern and rebuilt as CRN 2880 in 1974. It was sold as Luxapalila Valley RR 2880 in 1996.

CRN 2881 was built in June 1966, #31783, FN 7895-2, as NSRy 2002.  It was acquired by Southern and rebuilt as CRN 2881 in 1974.  It was sold as Georgia & Florida Railnet RR 2881 and sold to Gulf & Ohio as 2881.  It was rebuilt by Knoxville Locomotive Works as KLWX 2250, a KLW20B, in 2012.

CRN 2883 was built in October 1966, #32309, FN 7925-2, as NSRy 2004.  It was acquired by Southern and rebuilt as CRN 2883 in 1974.  It was sold to G&O as 2883.

CRN 2884 was built in June 1967, #32491, FN 7937-1, as NSRy 2005.  It was acquired by Southern and rebuilt as CRN 2884 in 1974.  It was sold as LXVR 2884 in 1996.

CRN 2885 was built in July 1967, #32492, FN 7937-2, as NSRy 2006.  It was acquired by Southern and rebuilt as CRN 2885 in 1974. It was sold as LXVR 2885 in 1996 and rebuilt as Bay Line RR 2060 in May 2013.

CRN 2886 was built in July 1967, #32493, FN 7937-3, as NSRy 2007.  It was acquired by Southern and rebuilt as CRN 2886 in 1974.  It was sold as Georgia & Florida Ry 2886 and sold to J&L Consulting as JLCX 2886.
