Bay Line RR

 

The A&StAB operated between Dothan, AL, and Panama City, FL. A branch between Cambellton and Graceville was abandoned in 1996.

110, SW1200, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1957, #23361, FN 4363-2, as Baltimore & Ohio 9615, Class SE-6.  It was reclassified as Class SW-1200 in 1965 and retired on Septembe 8, 1986.  It was sold to Rail Switching Services as RSS 351 via Wilson Railway Corp in February 1988.  It was renumbered 110 and leased as BAYL 110.  It was sold to Conrad Yelvington Distributors as CYDZ 359.

1st 500, GP7, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1953, #18416, FN 5250-8, as Reading Co 616, Class RS-3.  It was sold as A&SAB 500 and was sold as South Central Florida Express RR 9010 in 1990.

2nd 500, was built by Electro-Motive in August 1969, #35170, FN 7158-6. as Gulf Mobile & Ohio 707.  It became Illinois Central Gulf 9526 and sold as A&SAB 500 in April 1990.  It became BAYL 500 in 2005.

1st 501, GP7, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1952, #15943, FN 6367-1.  It was sold as SCFE 9011 in 1990 and sold as Cape Cod Central RR 1501 in 1999.

2nd 501, GP38, was built by Electro-Motive in August 1969, #35176, FN 7185-13, as GM&O 712.  It became ICG 9532 and sold as A&SAB 501 in April 1990.  It became BAYL 501 in 2006.

1st 502, GP7, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1952, #15944, FN 6367-2.  It was rebuilt as 511 and sold as SCFE 9012 in 1990.  It was sold as CCC 1502 in 1999 and scrapped in September 2011.

2nd 502, GP38, was built by Electro-Motive in August 1969, #35389, FN 7191-86, as Penn Central 7760, Class EF-20.  It became Consolidated Railroad Corp 7760, Class GP-38, in April 1976 and sold as Gulf & Mississippi RR 7760.  It was resold as A&SAB 502 and became BAYL 502.  It was transferred as Meridian & Bigbee RR 502.

504, SD9, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1956, #21047, FN 5421-2.  It was sold as Helm Leasing Corp 504 in March 1988.

505, SD9, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1958, #24062, FN 5562-1.  It was sold as HL 505 in March 1988.

506, SD40, was built by Electro-Motive in June 1966, #31766, FN 7894-1.  It was sold as Helm 506.

1st 507, GP39, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1970, #36312, FN 7256-1.  It was sold as VMV Enterprises 507 and transferred as Paducah & Louisville 8507.

2nd 507, GP38, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1969, #35448, FN 7202-5, as PC 7819, Class GP-38.  It became Conrail 7819, Class GP-38, in April 1976, and sold as G&M 7819.  It was sold as A&SAB 507 and became BAYL 507 in 2006.

508, GP38-2, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1973, #72686-1, FN 72686-1.  It became BAYL 508 in 2006.

509, GP38-2, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1973, #72686-2, FN 72686-2.  It became BAYL 509 in 2006.

510, GP38-2, was built by Electro-Motive in June 1975, #75623-1, FN 75623-1.  It became BAYL 510 in 2006.

512, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in June 1956, #21722, FN 5453-37, as Chesapeake & Ohio 6085, Class MRSE-17.  It became Class GP-9 in 1964 and sold to Rail Switching Services as RSSX 6085 and renumbered 102.  It was sold as BAYL 512.

904, RS1, was built by Alco in April 1943, #70810.  It was retired in 1973.

905, RS1, was built by Alco in April 1943, #70811. It was sold to Tennessee RR as 1 in July 1955 and became Southern Ry 1 in August 1973. It was sold to BR&L in November 1973 and then to South Carolina Public Service Administration as 1. It later went to Maryland & Delaware as 22 and to Arkansas & Missouri as 22, "J A Hannold".  It was donated to the National Museum of Transportation.

907, RS1, was built by Alco in November 1943, #70809.  It was sold to Conrad Yelviugton Industries as CYDZ 303.

909, RS1, was built by Alco in June 1944, #72812.  It was sold as Chattahoochee Industrial RR 3.  It was sold as CYDZ 3 and renumbered 275.

911, RS1, was built by Alco in April 1945, #73333.  It was sold as CIRR 118 in June 1973.  It was sold as CYDZ 118 and renumbered 294.

1001, S2, was built by Alco in November 1942, #70276.  It was sold to Precision Engineering Co and sold to George R Silcott Co.  It was sold as Becker Sand & Gravel Co 33 on July 5, 1969.

1501, F3A, was built by Electro-Motive in June 1947, #5144, FN E870-A1.  It was rebuilt by Electro-Motive in January 1955 and traded in to Electro-Motive in May 1970.

1597,GP15T, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1983, #827039-1, FN 827938-1, as Apalachicola Northern RR 720.  It became BAYL 1597 in 2010.

2010, GP38, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1971, #37376, FN 5769-2, as Phelps-Dodge Corp 54.  It was renumbered 5 and sold as Meridian & Bigbee RR 512.  It was relettered as M&BRR 512 and transferred as BAYL 2010 in 2008.

2051, GP38-2, was built by Electro-Motive in October 1973, #73611-8, FN 73611-8, as Detroit Toledo & Ironton 421, a GP40-2.  It became Grand Trunk Western 6421, Class GF-430k, in 1984 and sold to Alstom on June 29, 2001.  It was sold as Helm Leasing Co 6421 in 2004 and rebuilt as BAYL 2051, GP38-2, in 2008.

2060, GP38-3, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1967, #32492, FN 7937-2, as Norfolk Southern Ry 2006.  It was acquired by Southern Ry and rebuilt as Carolina & Northwestern. It was sold as Luxapalila Valley RR 2885 in 1996 and rebuilt as BAYL 2060 in May 2013.

2318, RP39-2C, was built by Electro-Motive in December 1966, #32362, FN 7929-13, as Atlantic Coast Line 927, a GP40. It became Seaboard Coast Line 1512 in July 1967 and then Seaboard System RR 6669. It then became CSX Transportation 6669, Class GP-40, and then sold to VMV Enterprises as 6669. It was rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen in June 1991 and was completed on June 14, 1991, as Virginia Railway Express V01.  It was sold to Motive Power Industries as MPEX 101 in 2011 and sold as Bay Line RR 2318 in 2012

2320, RP39-2C, was built by Electro-Motive in September 1971, #5793-3, FN 5793-3, as SCL 1635, a GP40. It became SBD 6789, and later CSX 6789, Class GP40. It was rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen in August 1991 and was completed on August 23, 1991, as VRE V05.  It was sold as MPEX 105 in 2011 and sold as BAYL 2320 in 2012.

2321, RP39-2C, was built by Electro-Motive is September 1967, #33457, FN 7075-9, as Louisville & Nashville 3018, Class GP-40.  It became SBD 6814 and later CSX 6814, Class GP-40.  It was rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen in September 1991 and was completed on September 29, 1991, as VRE V09.  It was sold as MPEX 109 in 2011 and sold as BAYL 2321 in 2012.

3017, GP40-2, was built by Electro-Motive in October 1973, #73611-3, FN 73611-3, as DT&I 416.  It became GTW 6416, Class GF-430k, in 1984 and retired on May 12, 2003.  It was sold as BAYL 6416 in 2004 and renumbered 3017 in 2009.

3018, GP40-2, was built by Electro-Motive in October 1973, #73611-5, FN 73611-5, as DT&I 418.  It became GTW 6418, Class GF-430k, in 1984 and retired on May 9, 2003.  It was sold as BAYL 6418 in 2004 and renumbered 3018 in 2009.

3019, GP40-2, was built by Electro-Motive in October 1973, #73611-6, FN 73611-6, as DT&I 419.  It became GTW 6419, Class GF-430k, in 1984 and retired on May 12, 2003.  It was sold as BAYL 6419 in 2004 and renumbered 3019 in 2009.

3400, SD40-2, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1980, #796305-9, FN 796305-9, as Missouri-Kansas-Texas 627.  It became Union Pacific 3835, Class SD40-2, on September 21, 1990, and retired on May 24, 2001.  It was sold to National Ry Equipment Co and sold to CIT Group as CEFX 3160.  It was sold to Motive Power Resources in 2013 and sold as BAYL 3400 in April 2014.

 

503 was built by Edwards Railway Motors Co in 1928.
