Virginia Railway Express
V01, RP39-2C, was built by Electro-Motive in December 1966, #32362, FN 7929-13, as Atlantic Coast Line 927, a GP40. It became Seaboard Coast Line 1512 in July 1967 and then Seaboard System RR 6669. It then became CSX Transportation 6669, Class GP-40, and then sold to VMV Enterprises as 6669. It was rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen in June 1991 and was completed on June 14, 1991, as VRE V01. It was sold to Motive Power Industries as MPEX 101 in 2011 and sold as Bay Line RR 2318 in 2012
V05, RP39-2C, was built by Electro-Motive in September 1971, #5793-3, FN 5793-3, as SCL 1635, a GP40. It became SBD 6789, and later CSX 6789, Class GP40. It was rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen in August 1991 and was completed on August 23, 1991, as VRE V05. It was sold as MPEX 105 in 2011 and sold as BAYL in 2012.
V08, RP39-2C, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1971, #38566, FN 7340-22, as Chesapeake & Ohio 4086, Class GP-40. It was numbered 6841 and later CSX 6841, Class GP-40. It was rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen in September 1991 and was completed on September 20, 1991, as VRE V08.
V09, RP39-2C, was built by Electro-Motive is September 1967, #33457, FN 7075-9, as Louisville & Nashville 3018, Class GP-40. It became SBD 6814 and later CSX 6814, Class GP-40. It was rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen in September 1991 and was completed on September 29, 1991, as VRE V09. It was sold as MPEX 109 in 2011 and sold as BAYL 2321 in 2012.
V10, RP39-2C, was built by Electro-Motive in September 1971, #38496, FN 7340-42, as Baltimore & Ohio 4016, Class GP-40. It was renumbered in March 1980 as temporary 9016. It was renumbered 6591 and then became CSX 6591, Class GP-40. It was rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen in October 1991 and was completed on October 25, 1991, as VRE V10.
V21, GP40H-2, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1968, #34628, FN 7145-18, as Penn Central 3187, Class EF-30, GP40. It became Consolidated Railroad Corp 3187, Class GP-40, in April 1976 and was sold to Kansas City Southern as 759 in January 1984. It was renumbered 4759 in June 1991 and then rebuilt to Morrison Knudsen as Virginia Railway Express V21, GP40H-2. It was sold as United States Army 4670 in 2012.
V22, G40PH-2. was built by Electro-Motive in November 1966, #32657, FN 7943-14, as B&O 3697, Class GP-40. It was renumbered 6513 and then became CSX 6513, Class GP-40. It was retired on September 30, 1992, and was sold to Steel Processing Corp on April 26, 1993. It was rebuilt to GP40PH-2 by Atelier Montreal Facility as VRE V22.
V24 "City of Manassas", GP40PH-2, was built by Electro-Motive in August 1971, #38488, FN 7340-34, as B&O 4008, Class GP-40. It became CSX 6583, Class GP-40, and sold to Helm Leasing Corp on May 28, 1991. It was rebuilt by Atelier in October 1992 as North Carolina Department of Transportation 1768 "City of Charlotte", GP40PH-2, and resold as VRE V24 "City of Manassas" in 2000.
