Indiana & Ohio RR
The I&O began as a small switching road at Brookville, IN, and came under the ownership of Railtex. It then expanded to take over the operation of the former Detroit Toledo & Ironton line between Cincinnati and Detroit plus other lines in southern Ohio and Indiana. It later became part of RailAmerica when they purchased Railtex.
20, LS-750, was built by Lima-Hamilton in November 1949, #9346, as Cincinnati Union Terminal Co 21. It was sold to J L Ordner Car Co on October 10, 1958, and sold as United States Pipe & Foundry Co 40 in 1959. It was sold as IORY 20.
51, GP7, was built by Electro-Motive in September 1951, #14687, FN 5072-24, as Chicago Burlington & Quincy 223. It became Burlington Northern 1579, Class GP-7, in 1970 and retired in September 1983. It was sold to MidContinent Railway Museum in December 1983 and sold as IORY 51 in March 1985. It was sold as Jaxport Terminal Ry 51 in October 1993.
56, GP7, was built by Electro-Motive in June 1950, #10133, FN 6010-5, as Chesapeake & Ohio 5704, Class MRSE-15. It was reclassified Class GP-7 in 1964 and sold as IORY 56. It was sold as JTR 56 in October 1993.
63, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1956, #22561, FN 5509-12, as C&O 6178, Class MRSE-17. It was reclassified Class GP-9 in 1964 and sold as IORY 63. It was sold Chillicothe-Brunswick Rail Authority as 63 in 1999 and resold as Progressive Rail Inc 63 in 2005. It was sold as Black Hills Central 63 in 2008.
65, GP9, was built by ElectroMotive in August 1956, #21910, FN 5463-3. as New York Chicago & St Louis 482, Class ERS-17C. It was wrecked on December 6, 1956, and rebuilt in June 1957, #23760, FN 8049-1. In August 1956 it becameNorfolk & Western 2482 and was retired on April 16, 1987. It was sold to Golden Age Rail Equipment in November 1987 sold as 482 in 1988 and sold as IORY 65 in 1989. It was sold to Adrian & Blissfield and scrapped at Caulfield in October 1997.
71, GP18, was built by Electro-Motive in August 1960, #26118, FN 5626-5, as Seaboard Air Line 404. It became Seaboard Coast Line 1060 in 1967 and Seaboard System 1060 in January 1980. It was sold to David J Joseph Co in 1985 and sold as IORY 71. It was sold to Bio Fuel Energy Corp as BEPX 71 in 2008.
85, GP30, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1962, #27895, FN 5647-2, as New York Chicago & St Louis 901, Class ERS-22A. It became Norfolk & Western 2901 in 1965 and retired in December 1989. It was sold as IORY 85 in December 1991 and sold as Cincinnati Ry 85 in 2004. It was restored as NKP 901.
87, GP30, was built by Electro-Motive in October 1963, #28522, FN 7683-1, as C&O 3046, Class MRSE-30. It was reclassified as Class GP-30 in 1964 and rebuilt later as Class GP-30M. It was renumbered 4233 and then became CSX Transportation 4233, Class GP-30M. It was sold as IORY 87 in 1997 and sold to Railway Service Contractors Inc as MJRX 87.
91, DS4-4-1000, was built by Baldwin in October 1948, #74233, as Western Railway of Alabama 630. It became Seaboard Coast Line 91 and sold to Birmingham Rail & Locomotive Co. It was sold as IORY 91 in May 1979 and was scrapped
92, S12, was built by Baldwin in September 1951, #75235, as Patapsco & Back River RR 345. It was sold as IORY 345 in 1983 and renumbered 92 in 1983. It was scrapped.
251, GP35, was built by Electro-Motive in March 1964, #29224, FN
5665-10, as
Norfolk & Western 224, It was retired in December
1990 and sold as IORY 251
in March 1993.
252, GP35, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1964, #29232, FN 5665-18, as N&W 232. It was retired in December 1991 and sold as IORY 252 in March 1993. It was tranferred as ISRR 252 in 2004 and wrecked in 2008.
1500, SW1500, was built by Electro-Motive in March 1972, #7355-46, FN 7355-46, asPenn Central 9551, Class ES-15.. It became Consolidated Railroad Corp 9555, Class SW-1500, in April 1976 and sold as I&O 1500. It was sold to General American Transportation Co as GMTX 120.
1501, SW1500, was built by Electro-Motive in October 1973, #73622-23, FN 73622-23, as PC 9582, Class ES-15. It became Conrail 9582, Class SW-1500, in April 1976 and sold as I&O 1501. It was sold to GATX as GMTX 121.
3488, SD40-2, was built by Electro-Motive in December 1977, #776053-24, FN 776053-24, as Burlington Northern 7014, Class SD40-2. It became Burlington Northern Santa Fe 7014, Class SD40-2, in 2001 and retired in November 2008. It was sold to Helm Leasing as HLCX 7014 and sold as IORY 3488 in 2018.
3800, GP38-3, was built br Electro-Motive in September 1969, #35250, FN 7189-5, as Alabama Great Southern (Southern Ry) 2720, GP38 It was sold to Locomotive Leasing Partners 2720 in 1998, It was rebuilt at VMV in 1998, GP38-3, and leased to RailTex in 1998. It became I&O as 3800 and became Cape Britan & Central Nova Scotia 3800 and later as Dallas Garland & NorthEastern as 3800 in March 2000.
3801, GP38-3, was built by Electro-Motive in September 1969, #35271, FN 5744-14, as Cincinni New Orleans & Texas Pacific (Southern Ry) 2741, GP38. It was sold to LLP 2741. It was rebuilt at VMV in 1998, GP38-3, and leased to RailTex in 1998. It became I&O as 3801 and became CP&CNS. It served in DG&NO and sold to CIT Group as CEFX 3801 in 2011. It was sold as Vermont Ry 3801 in 2011 and renumbered 206 in 2012.
3805, GP38-3, was built by Electro-Motive in October 1967, #33342, FN 7060-25, as Baltimore &Ohio 3824, Class GP-38. It was later 2024 and then became CSX Transportation 2024, Class GP-38. It was retired on January 21, 1997, and sold to Locomotive Leasing Partners on April 19, 1997. It was shipped to VMV on May 2, 1997 and rebuilt as GP38-3 as I&O 3805 in October 1997. It was transferred as Central Oregon & Pacific 3805 and sold to CIT Financial Group as CEFX 3805 in 2011.
3806, GP38-3, was built by Electro-Motive in September 1971, #38503, FN 7340-49, as Baltimore & Ohio 4023, Class GP-40. It was renumbered 6598 and becane CSX Transportation 6598, Class GP-40. It was retired on December 18, 1996, and sold to LLP as 6598 on February 21, 1997. It was rebuilt byVMV on November 1997 as GP38-3 on CB&CNS as 3806. It was changed to I&O as 3806 on to CORP 3806 on 1999. It was then changed as DGNO as 3806.
4008, GP40, was built by Electro-Motive in August 1968, #34082, FN 7102-6, as Missouri-Kansas-Texas 199. It became Union Pacific 505 on June 9, 1989, and retired on October 9, 1992. It was sold to RailTex as Missouri & Northern Arkansas 505 in October 1952 and was transferred as I&O 4008.
4011, GP40, was built by Electro-Motive in August 1968, #34092, FN 7102-16, as MKT 209. It became UP 515, Class GP40, on June 6, 1989, and retired on October 9, 1992. It was sold to Railtex as M&NA 515 in December 1992. It became IORY 4011.
4031, GP40, was built by Electro-Motive in September 1971, #38508, FN 7340-54, as B&O 4028, Class GP-40. It was changed to 9028 on March 1980 and returned as 4031 on March 1980. It was renumbered 6603 and then became CSX 6603. Class GP-40. It was retired on September 22, 1985, and sold to National Railway Equipment Co as 6603 on January 10, 1996, It was sold to I&O as 6603 on 1997 and renumbered 4031 in 1999.
4033, GP40, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1970, #35100, FN 7183-22, as Seaboard Coast Line 1587. It became Seaboard System RR 1587 in January 1983 and renumbered 6742 in 1984. It became CSX 6742, Class GP-40, in April 1986. It was sold to RailTex as I&O 6742 in 1997 and renumbered 4033 in 1999.
4035, GP40, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1970, #35910, FN 7229-14, as SCL 1609. It later became SCB 6763 and then CSX 6763, Class GP-40. It was later sold to Railtex as I&O 4035.
4050, GP40, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1971, #36731, FN 7275-11, as Baltimore & Ohio 3750, Class GP-40. It was renumbered 6526 and then became CSX 6526, Class GP-40. It was sold to Railtex as New England Central 6526 and later became I&O 4050.
5000, GP50, was built by Electro-Motive in December 1980, #796331-2, FN 796331-2, as St Louis-San Francisco 3100. It was ordered as 791 and delivered as 3100. It became Burlington Northern 3100 and sold as IORY 5000 in July 1997. It was transferred as Cape Breton & Central Nova Scotia Ry 5000 in July 1998 and transferred as Central RR of Indiana 5000 in 2008. It was transferred as Toledo Peoria & Western 5010 in March 2013.
5002, GP50, was built by Electro-Motive in December 1980, #796331-3, FN 796331-3, as ordered as SL-SF 792. It was delivered as BN 3102, Class GP-50, and sold as IORY 5002 in July 1997. It was transferred as CBNS 5002 in July 1998 and can be found on other lines.
5007, GP50, was built by Electro-Motive in December 1980, #796331-8, FN 796331-8, as ordered as SL-SF 797. It was delivered as BN 3107 and sold as IORY 5007 in July 1997. It was transferred as CBNS 5007 in July 1998.
5008, GP50, was built by Electro-Motive in December 1980, #796331-9, FN 796331-9, as as ordered as SL-SF 798. It was delivered as BN 3108, Class GP-50. It was sold as IORY 5008 in July 1997. It was transferred as CBNS 5008 in 1998 and transferred as CIND 5008 in 2008. It was transferred as TP&W 5008 in February 2013.
