Electro-Motive GP9 Diesels

4428, Class GR-17b, was built in August 1954, #19666, FN 5343-2, as 1752.  It was renumbered 4428 in 1956.  It was retired in 1992 and sold to Saginaw Valley Historical Society in October 1993.  It was sold to Great Lakes Locomotive LLC as GLLX 4428.

4430, Class GR-17b, was built in August 1954, #19668, FN 5343-4, as 1754. It was renumbered 4430 in 1956.  It was retired in December 1987 and scrapped.

4431, Class GR-17b, was built in August 1954, #19669, FN 5343-5, as 1755. It was renumbered 4431 in 1956 and rebuilt in 1989 as 4603, Class GR-417a.  It was retired on January 6, 2003, and shipped to Metro East Industries.

4433, Class GR-17b, was built in August 1954, #19671, FN 5345-7, as 1757.  It was renumbered 4433 in 1956 and retired on February 10, 1997.  It went to Saginaw Valley Railway Museum and sold as GLLX 4433.

4436, Class GR-17b, was built in August 1954, #19674, FN 5345-10, as 1760. It was renumbered 4436 in 1956 and later became Kansas Southwestern Ry 4436 in 1991.  It was sold as Northern Plains Ry 2287 and sold as Farmers Elevator Co of Alvarado 1920.

4437, Class GR-17b, was built in August 1954, #19675, FN 5344-11, as 1761. It was renumbered 4437 in 1956 and later rebuilt at Battle Creek in January 1992 as 4626, Class GR-417a.

4439, Class GR-17b, was built in August 1954, #19677, FN 5344-13, as 1763. It was renumbered 4439 in 1956 and retired in 1998.

4440, Class GR-17b, was built in August 1954, #19678, FN 5344-14, as 1764. It was renumbered 4440 in 1956 and retired 1987.

4441, Class GR-17b, was built in August 1954, #19679, FN 5344-15, as 1765. It was renumbered 4441 in 1956 and retired in 1989.

4900, Class GR-17c, was built in August 1954, #19680, FN 5355-1,  as 1766, Class GRG-17c. It was renumbered 4900 in 1956 and rebuilt in 1971 without train heat and reclassified GR-17c.  It was retired in 1987.

4901, Class GR-17c, was built in August 1954, #19681, FN 5355-2, as 1767, Class GRG-17c. It was renumbered 4901 in 1956 and rebuilt in 1971 without train heat and reclassified GR-17c. It was rebuilt at Battle Creek in January 1993 as 4635 and retired on January 22, 2009.

4442, Class GR-17d, was built in June 1956, #21449, FN 5443-1, as Grand Trunk 1768, Class GR-17d. It was renumbered 4442 in 1956 and later transferred to Central Vermont as 4442, Class GR-17d, in July 1963.  It was transferred to GTW and retired in 1989.  It was sold as St Lawrence & Atlantic RR 1766 in May 1989 and wrecked in December 1995.

4443, Class GR-17d, was built in May 1956, #21450, FN 5443-2, as GT 1769. Class GR-17d. It was renumbered 4443 in 1956 and later transferred to CV as 4443, Class GR-17d, in July 1963. It was transferred to GTW and rebuilt at Battle Creek in March 1989 as 4600.

4444, Class GR-17d, was built in May 1956, #21451, FN 5443-3, as GT 1770, Class GR-17d.  It was renumbered 4444 in 1956 and later transferred to CV as 4444, Class GR-17d, in July 1963.  It was transferred to GTW and retired in 1998.  It was sold to Western Railroad Dismantlers and sold to Taylor Rail Group Inc as TBRX 4444.  It was sold as Aberdeen Carolina & Western 4444 in 2007.

4445, Class GR-17d, was built in May 1956, #21452, FN 5443-4, as 1771.  It was renumbered 4445 in 1956 and later transferred to CV as 4445, Class GR-17d, in July 1963.  It was transferred to GTW and retired in 1989.  It was sold as St Lawrence & Atlantic Ry 1768 in May 1989 and renumbered 68 in 1996.

4446, Class GR-17d, was built in May 1956, #21453, FN 5443-5, as GT 1772.  It was renumbered 4446 in 1956 and later transferred to CV as 4446, Class GR-17d, in July 1963.  It was transferred to GTW and retired in 1998.  It was sold to Western Railroad Dismantlers and sold to TRC as TBRX 4446.  It was transferred as Central Manitoba Ry 4081 in 2006.

4447, Class GR-17d, was built in May 1956, #21454, FN 5443-6, as GT 1773.  It was renumbered 4447 in 1956 and later transferred to CV as 4447, Class GR-17d, in July 1963.  It was transferred to GTW and retired in 1989.  It was sold as St Lawrence & Atlantic Ry 1762 in May 1989 and renumbered 62 in 1996.

4448, Class GR-17d, was built in May 1956, #21455, FN 5443-7, as GT 1774. It was renumbered 4448 in 1956 and later transferred to CV as 4448, Class GR-17d, in July 1963. It was transferred to GTW and retired in 1989.  It was sold as SL&A 1758 in May 1989 and scrapped in 1994.

4449, Class GR-17d, was built in June 1956, #21456, FN 5443-8, as GT 1775. It was renumbered 4449 in 1956 and later transferred to CV as 4449, Class GR-17d. It was transferred to GTW and later rebuilt at Battle Creek in August 1989 as 4604.  It was retired on January 6, 2003, and sold as Diesel Locomotive Co DLCX 4604.

4450, Class GR-17d, was built in June 1956, #21457, FN 5443-9, as GT 1776.  It was renumbered 4450 in 1956 and later transferred to CV as 4450, Class GR-17d, in July 1963.  It was renumbered 1776 in 1975 and returned as 4450.  It was returned to GTW later and retired in 1989.  It was sold as SL&A 1764 in May 1989 and renumbered 64.

4604, Class GR-17e, was built in June 1956, #21460, FN 5444-3, as 1779.  It was renumbered 4604 in 1956 and later transferred CV 4604, Class GR-17e.  It was returned as GTW 4604, Class GR-17e, in October 1977 and rebuilt at Battle Creek as 4610, Class GR-417a, in 1990.

 

4605, Class GR-17e, was built in June 1956, #21461, FN 5444-4. as GT 1780, Class GR-17e.  It was renumbered 4605 in 1956 and transferred as CV 4605, Class GR-17e, in July 1963.  It was transferred as GTW 4605, Class GR-17e, in October 1977 and rebuilt at Buttle Creek in 1991 as 4616, Class, Class GR-417a.

4539, Class GR-17j, was built in March 1957, #22847, FN 5513-12. It was rebuilt at Battle Creek in January 1992 as 4624 and retired on December 12, 2010.

4543, Class GR-17j, was built in March 1957, #22851, FN 5513-5. It was rebuilt at Battle Creek in November 1991 as 4625 and retired on December 12, 2010.

4544, Class GR-17j, was built in March 1957, #22852, FN 5513-6. It was retired in 1991 and sold as Kansas Southwestern Ry 4544 in April 1991.  It was sold as Northern Plains Ry 2288 and sold as Renville Elevator Co 1990.

4545, Class GR-17j, was built in March 1957, #22853, FN 5513-7.  It was sold as Adrian & Bllissfield RR 1 in July 1991 and renumbered 1751 in 1992.

4547, Class GR-17j, was built in March 1957, #22836, FN 5512-3, as Central Vermont 4547, Class GR-17j. It was transferred later to GTW as 4547, Class GR-17j. In March 1989 it was rebuilt at Battle Creek as 4602 and retired on January 6, 2003.

4548, Class GR-17j, was built in March 1957, #22837, FN 5512-4, as CV 4548, Class GR-17j. It was transferred later to GTW as 4548, Class GR-17j.  In 1989 it was sold to Huron & Eastern as 105 "City of Vassar" and sold as Idaho Northern Pacific 105 in 1993.  It was returned as HESR in 1994 and transfered as Octoraro RR 105 and then as  Delaware Valley Ry  105.  It was sold as Gettysburg RR 105, "County of Adams".

4551, Class GR-17j, was built in March 1957, #22840, as CV 4551, Class GR-17j. It was transferred later to GTW as 4551, Class GR-17j.  It was rebuilt at Battle Creek as 4605, Class GR-417a, on October 5, 1989, and retired on January 6, 2003. It was sold to Diesel Supply Corp as DSLZ 4605 in 2003 and sold to S&S Sales & Leasing as SSRX 4605 in October 2012 and leasing to Manning Rail Inc.

4554, Class GR-17j, was built in March 1957, #22843, as CV 4554, Class GR-17j.  It was transferred as GTW 4554, Class GR-17j, in January 1965.  It was sold as A&B 2 in July 1991 and renumbered 1752 in 1992.

4555, Class GR-17j, was built in March 1957, #22844, as CV 4555, Class GR-17j. It was transferred later to GTW as 4555, Class GR-17j. It was rebuilt at Battle Creek in December 1990 as 4615 and was transferred to CV as 4615 in 1991.  It was retired in 2007.

4557, Class GR-17j, was built in March 1957, #22846, FN 5512-11, as CV 4557, Class GR-17j.  It was transferred later to GTW as 4557, Class GR-17j, and retired in 1991.  It was sold as KSW 4557 and sold as NPR 2285. 

4559, Class GR-17j, was built in March 1957, #22835, FN 5511-2, as 4559, Class GR-17j.  It was transferred to CV as 4450, Class GR-17d, July 1963. It became GTW 4559, Class GR-17j, and retired in 1993.  It was sold as Archer-Daniels-Midland 4559 in April 1993.

4907, Class GR-17k, was built in January 1957, #22855, FN 5514-1, as Class GRG-17k. It was rebuilt in 1971 without train heat and reclassified GR-17k.  It was retired in February 1993 and sold to Omnitrax.  It was cannabilized by April 1994.

4908, Class GRG-17k, was built in January 1957, #22856, FN 5514-2.  It was retired in April 1977 and sold as Southeast Michigan Transit Authority 901 in 1977.  It was rebuilt at Paducah in January 1980 and retired on October 17, 1983.  It was sold as Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority 901 on February 10, 1987, and sold for parts in October 1993 to Green Mountain RR.  It was scrapped.

4909, Class GR-17k, was built in January 1957, #22857, FN 5514-3, as Class GRG-17k.  It was rebuilt in 1971 without train heat and reclassified GR-17k.  It was renumbered 4509 on January 12, 1997, and retired on March 19, 1998.  It was sold to Western Railroad Dismantlers in 1998 and sold as Worthington Steel Co 4509.

4910, Class GR-17k, was built in January 1957, #22858, FN 5514-4, as Class GRG-17k.  It was rebuilt in 1971 without train heat and reclassified GR-17k.  It was sold to Lansing Board of Water & Light as 4910 in 1995.

4912, Class GR-17k, was built in January 1957, #22860, FN 5514-6, as Class GRG-17k.  It was rebuilt in 1971 without train heat and reclassified GR-17k.  It was retired in 1991 and sold as KSW 4912.  It was sold as NPR 2286 and sold as Renville Elevator Co 1990.

4913, Class GR-17k, was built in January 1957, #22861, FN 5514-7, as Class GRG-17k. It was rebuilt in 1971 without train heat and reclassified GR-17k. It was rebuilt at Battle Creek in April 1989 as 4601 and retired on January 6, 2003.  It was sold as Blacklands RR 4601.

4915, Class GRG-17k, was built in January 1957, #22863, FN 5514-9.  It was retired in April 1977 and sold as SEMTA 902 in 1977.  It was rebuilt at Paducah in January 1989 and retired on October 17, 1983.  It was as MBTA 902 on February 1987.

4916, Class GR-17k, was built in January 1957, #22864, FN 5514-10, as Class GRG-17k.  It was rebuilt in 1971 without train heat and reclassified GR-17k.  It was retired in 1991 and sold as KSW 4916 in 1991.

4917, Class GR-17k, was built in January 1957, #22865, FN 5514-11, as Class GRG-17k. It was rebuilt in 1971 without train heat and reclassified GR-17k.  It was renumbered 4517 in 1997 and retired in 1998.  It was sold to WRI and sold as Lansing Grain Co 4917.

4918, Class GR-17k, was built in January 1957, #22866, FN 5514-12, as Class GRG-17k. It was rebuilt in 1971 without train heat and reclassified GR-17k. It was later renumbered 4518 in 1997 and then sold to Econo-Rail as 4518 on March 16, 1998.

4921, Class GR-17k, was built in January 1957, #22869, as Class GRG-17k. It was rebuilt in 1971 without train heat and reclassified GR-17k. It was rebuilt at Battle Creek in September 1991 as 4622.

4135, Class GR-17x, was built in November 1958, #24965.  It became CV 4135, Class GR-17x, in November 1987, and returned as GTW 4135.  It was retired on May 11, 1996.

4136, Class GR-17x, was built in November 1958, #24966.  It became CV 4136, Class GR-17x, in November 1987, and returned as GTW 4136.  It was retired on January 26, 1998.

4137, Class GR-17x, was built in November 1958, #24967.  It became CV 4137, Class GR-17x, in November 1987, and returned as GTW 4137.  It was retired in 1998.

4138, Class GR-17x, was built in November 1958, #24968, FN 5584-5.  It became CV 4138, Class GR-17x, in November 1987 and returned as GTW 4138.  It was stored unserviceable late in 1997 and retired on January 8, 1999.  It was sold to Canac in 2000 and acquired by Prairie Dog Central in 2002 and restored in May 2003 as PDC 4138.

4139, Class GR-17x, was built in May 1957, #22849, as 4541, Class GR-17j. It was rebuilt by Electro-Motive in April 1959, #25433, as 4139, Class GR-17x.  It became CV 4139, Class GR-17x, in November 1987, and returned as GTW 4139.  It was retired on November 5, 1996.

 

6052 was built in December 1955, #20835, FN 5411-3 as Detroit Toledo & Ironton 982.  It became GTW 6052 in 1983 and sold to Rail Switching Services in July 1989.  It was leased to Fox River Valley RR for a short time and then sold as Georgia Central RR 6052.  It was sold to RailAmerica Inc and sent as Rail Link Ottawa Valley Ry 1701 in 1998.  It was transferred as Cascade & Columbia River RR 1701 in 1999.

6986 was built in December 1955, #20839, FN 5411-7, as DT&I 986.  It became GTW 6986 in 1984 and sold for scrap to Midwest Dock.
