Electro-Motive GP40 Diesels

3684-3779

3686, Class GP-40, was built in November 1966, #32646, FN 7943-3.  It was renumbered from October 13, 1979, until mid January 1980, as temporary 9686.  It was renumbered 6502  in 1986 and became CSX Transportation 6502, Class GP-40, in 1987.  It was retired on September 12, 1989, and rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen as St Louis South-Western 7284, GM40M-2, on December 14, 1990.  It was assigned Union Pacific 5419 in September 1997 and assigned 1519, Class GP40M-2, in December 1999.

3687, Class GP-40, was built in November 1966, #32647, FN 7943-4.  It was renumbered from October 25, 1980, until November 18, 1980, as temporary 9687. It later was renumber 6503 in 1986 and then became CSX 6503, Class GP-40, in 1987. It was retired on September 12, 1989, and rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen on December 28, 1990, to GP40M-2, as SSW as 7287. It was assigned UP 5422 in September 1997 and assigned 1522 in December 1999.

3688, Class GP-40, was built in November 1966, #32648, FN 7943-5.  It was renumbered 6504 in 1986 and became CSX 6504, Class GP-40, in 1987.  It was retired on October 21, 1996, and sold to Metro East Industries on December 6, 1996.  It was sold as Helm Atlantic Leasing 423 in 1997 and sold to Progress Rail Services as PRLX 2020.  It was sold as Belt Ry of Chicago 232 in October 2012.  It was rebuilt as model GP23-ECO in October 2013.

3689, Class GP-40, was built in November 1966, #32649, FN 7943-6.  It was renumbered 6506 in 1986 and became CSX 6506, Class GP-40, in 1987.  It was retired on January 16, 1991, and rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen on June 4, 1991, as SP 7119.  It was assigned as UP 5389, Class GP40M-2, in September 1997 and became UP 1489, on July 16, 2004.

3690, Class GP-40, was built in November 1966, #32650, FN 7943-7.  It was renumbered from 1979 until mid-1980 as 9690.  It was renumbered 6506 in 1986 and then became CSX 6506, Class GP-40, in 1987.  It was retired and sold to Locomotive Leasing Partners on May 31, 2001.

3691, Class GP-40, was built in November 1966, #32651, FN 7943-8.  It was renumbered from August 13, 1979, and mid-1980 as 9691.  It was renumbered 6507 in 1986 and then CSX 6507, Class GP-40, in 1987.  It was retired on July 23, 1991 and sold to Steel Processing Corp on November 9, 1992.  It was rebuilt by National Railway Equipment as Ferrocarril del Pacifico SA D2361 and shipped on August 1, 1998.

3692, Class GP-40, was built in November 1966, #32652, FN 7943-9.  It was renumbered in 1979 and January 1980 and between February 1981 and on March 8, 1981 as 9692.  It was renumbered 6508 in 1986 and then CSX 6508, Class GP-40, in 1987.  It was rebuilt by Morrison Knudson on May 17, 1991, as GP40M-2, as Southern Pacific 7114.  It was assigned UP 5384 and became UP 1484, Class GP40-M2 on October 3, 2001.

3695, Class GP-40, was built in November 1966, #32655, FN 7943-12.  It was renumbered 6511 in 1986 and became CSX 6511, Class GP-40, in 1987. It was retired on July 16, 1991, and rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen on July 30, 1991, as GP40M-2, as SP 7127.  It was assigned UP 5405 in September 1979 and became UP 1505 on March 30, 2002.

3696, Class GP-40, was built in November 1966, #32656, FN 7943-13. It was renumbered between October 23, 1980, and November 1980 temporary 9696, It later was renumbered 6512 in 1986 and then became CSX 6512, Class GP-40, in 1987. It was retired on May 25, 1993, and sold to Helm Atlantic on July 22, 1993. It was then sold to Morrison-Knudsen. It was then rebuilt by Boise Locomotive on March 20, 1998, as Texas Mexican as 1174 and later returned as Helm Leasing.

3697, Class GP-40, was built in November 1966, #32657, FN 7943-14. It was renumbered 6513 in 1986 and then became CSX 6513, Class GP-40, in 1987. It was retired on September 30, 1992, and was sold to Steel Processing Corp on April 26, 1993. It was rebuilt to GP40PH-2 by Atelier Montreal Facility as Virginia Rail Express V22.

3699, Class GP-40, was built in November 1966, #32659, FN 7943-16.  It was renumbered 6515 in 1986 and became CSX 6515, Class GP-40, in 1987.  It was retired on January 16, 1991, and rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen to GP40M-2 as SP 7125 on July 16, 1991.  It was assigned UP 5403, Class GP40M-2, in September 1997 and assigned UP 1503 in December 1999.

3700, Class GP-40, was built in February 1969, #34823, FN 7158-1.  It was leased as 9700 between February 1981 and April 1981.  It was returned to General American Transportation Co on May 17, 1984, as 3700.  It was rebuilt by Livingston Rebuild Center as Burlington Northern 3075, Class GP-40G, on June 1, 1989.  It was retired on February 28, 1992, as GATX 3075.  It was leased to Missouri & Northern Arkansas as 3075  in May 1993 and then to Dallas Garland & NorthEastern as 3075 in September 1993.  It was transferred as Central Oregon & Pacific 3075 in December 1994 and as New England Central as 3075 in March 1996.  It was renumbered 4030 in 1998.

3702, Class GP-40, was built in February 1969, #34825, FN 7158-3.  It was leased as 9702 between August 31, 1979, and March 1980.  It was returned to GATX on May 17, 1984, as GSCX 3702.  It was rebuilt by VMV in 2001 as Locomotive Leasing Partners 3001 and sold to GATCo as GMTX 3001.

3704, Class GP-40, was built in February 1969, #34827, FN 7158-5.  It was renumbered 9704 in March 1984 and returned as 3704 in March 1984.  It was returned as GATX 3704 on May 17, 1984 and rebuilt by Livingston Rebuild Center as BN 3076, Class GP-40G, on May 26, 1989.  It was retired on February 28, 1992, and returned to GATX on June 4, 1992.  It was leased as M&NA 3076 in May 1993 and assigned as Indiana Southern RR 3076 in June 1993.  It was returned to GATX in August 1994 and leased as CORP 3076 in 1995.  It was renumbered 4021 in August 1998 and transferred as M&NA 4021 in February 2002.  It was transferred as Otter Tail Valley RR 4201.

3705, Class GP-40, was built in February 1969, #34828, FN 7158-6.  It was returned to GATX on May 17, 1984, as 3705.  It was rebuilt by Mid-America Car at Cleburne in May 1991 as Arizona & California RR 3801, GP38AC.  It was renumbered 3892 in 2003.

3707, Class GP-40, was built in February 1969, #34830, FN 7158-8.  It was leased as 9707 between early 1979 and January 16, 1980, and returned to GATX on May 17, 1984, as 3707.  It was rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen as Southern Pacific 7102, a GP40M-2, on March 8, 1991.  It was assigned as Union Pacific 5372 in September 1997 and reassigned as 1472 in December 1999.

3708, Class GP-40, was built in February 1969, #34831, FN 7158-9.  It was returned as GATX 3708 on May 17, 1984.  It was rebuilt by Mid-America Car as GP38AC in 1987 and sold as Central Michigan RR 8801 in March 1988. It was wrecked and scrapped.

3711, Class GP-40, was built in February 1969, #34834, FN 7158-12.  It was returned as GATX 3711 on May 17, 1984, and rebuilt by by Morrison Knudsen on April 10, 1991, as SP 7110.  It was assigned UP 5380, Class GP40M-2, in September 1997 and became UP 1480 on September 29, 2001.

3712, Class GP-40, was built in February 1969, #34835, FN 7158-13.  It was leased as 9712 beginning February 1981 until April 30, 1981, and returned as GATX 3712 on May 17, 1984.  It was rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen as SP 7131, GP40M-2, on April 26, 1991, and assigned as UP 5409, Class GP40M-2, in September 1997.  It became UP 1509 on April 14, 2005.

3713, Class GP-40, was built in February 1969, #34836, FN 7158-14.  It was retired and became GATX 3713 on May 17, 1984.  It was rebuilt at Livington Rebuild Center as BN 3077, Class GP-40G, on May 13, 1988, and returned as GATX 3077 on February 28, 1992.  It was leased as Missouri & Northern Arkansas 3077 in December 1992 and transferred as DGNO 3077 in September 1993.  It was transferred as CORP 3077 in August 1995 and transferred and renumbered as Godrich-Exeter RR 4022 in November 1998.  It was transferred as Cape Breton & Central Nova Scotia 4022 in June 1999 and renumbered 3022 in April 2013. .

3714, Class GP-40, was built in February 1969, #34837, FN 7158-15. It was returned to GATX on May 17, 1984, as 3714. It was rebuilt by Livingston Rebuild Center as BN 3078, Class GP-40G, on May 3, 1989. It was retired on February 28, 1992, and became GATX 3078 on June 1, 1992. It was leased to M&NA as 3078 in December 1992 and then to NEC as 3078 in January 1995. It was renumbered 4047 in July 1999 and retired in October 2011.  It was rebuilt at Juniata by Railpower in March 2013, #RP178-004, as Dallas Garland & NorthEastern 145, RP20BD.

3717, Class GP-40, was built in March 1969, #34840, FN 7158-18.  It was renumbered 9717 on August 13, 1979, and returned as 3716 in March 1980 and again between April 1980 and February 1981.  It became GATX 3717 on May 17, 1984, and leased as SL&A 3717 in December 1991.  It was rebuilt by VMV Enterprises as Locomotive Leasing Partners 3002 in 2001 and leased as St Lawrence & Atlantic Ry 3002 in 2002.  It was transferred as Quebec-Gatineau Ry 2002 on May 25, 2006, and returned as SL&A 3002 in 2006.

3718, Class GP-40, was built in March 1969, #34841, FN 7158-19.  It was returned as GATX 3718 on May 17, 1984.  It was rebuilt by Mid-American Car as GP38AC in May 1988 and sold as Central Michigan RR 8802 in October 1988.  It was transferred as Huron & Eastern 8802.

3719, Class GP-40, was built in March 1969, #34842, FN 7158-20.  It was renumbered 9719 in 1979 and returned as 3719 in 1980.  It was returned as GATX 3719 on May 17, 1984 and rebuilt by Morrison -Knudsen as Southern Pacific 7133, a GP40M-2 on May 19, 1991.  It was assigned as Union Pacific 5411, Class GP40M-2. in September 1997 and became 1511 on September 13, 2007.  It reclassified GP40N in August 2019.

3720, Class GP-40, was built in March 1969, #34843, FN 7158-21.  It was returned as GATX 3720 on May 17, 1984.  It was rebuilt by Mid-American Car as GP38AC in July 1988 and sold as CMGN 8804 in July 1988.  It was transferred as HESR 8804.

3721, Class GP-40, was built in March 1969, #34844, FN 7158-22.  It was returned as GATX 3721 on May 17, 1984.  It was rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen as SP 7112, a GP40M-2, on April 15, 1991.  It was assigned as UP  5382, Class GP40M-2, in September 1997 and became 1482 on October 16, 2001.

3722, Class GP-40, was built in March 1969, #34845, FN 7158-23.  It was returned as GATX 3722 on May 17, 1984.  It was rebuilt at Livingston in 1984 and rebuilt at Livingston in June 16, 1989, as BN 3080, Class GP-40G.  It was retired on February 28, 1992, and returned to GATX.  It was leased as Virginia Southern RR 3080 in June 1993 and transferred as Godrich-Exeter RR 3080 in January 1994.  It was transferred as New England Central 3080 in May 1995 and renumbered 4048 in 1999.  It was rebuilt at Juniata by Railpower in March 2013, #RP178-005, as DGNO 146, RP20BD.

3724, Class GP-40, was built in March 1969, #34847, FN 7158-25.  It was renumbered 9724 in August 13, 1979, and returned as 3724 in January 1980.  It was returned to GATX on May 17, 1984, as 3724.  It was rebuilt by Mid-America Car in May 1991 as ARZC 3803, a GP38AC.  It was returned to GATX in April 2002 and sent as North Carolina & Virginia 3803 in 2003 and renumbered 3837 in 2003.

3726, Class GP-40, was built in March 1969, #34849, FN 7158-27. It was renumbered 9726 in 1979 and returned as 3726 in April 1981 as 3726, It was later returned to GATX as 3726 on May 17, 1984. It was rebuilt by Mid-America Car in January 1986 and leased to Point Comfort & Northern as 3726.  It later was sold to Fort Worth & Western as 2007 "B B Paddock" .

3727, Class GP-40, was built in March 1969, #34850, FN 7128-28.  It was leased as Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe 9727 between March 31, 1979 and January 1980.  It was returned as GATX 3727 on May 17, 1984, and rebuilt by Mid-American Car in June 1988 as CMGN 8803, GP38AC.  It was sold to Helm Leasing Co as HLCX 3695 in August 1995 and sold as Watco as WAMX 3818.

3729, Class GP-40, was built in March 1969, #34852-FN 7158-30.  It was later returned to GATX as 3729 on May 17,1984 and leased to Canadian Pacific from 1984 to 1989.  It was sold to Morrison Knudsen Corp in 1991.  It was rebuilt as MKCX 4301 on January 24, 1994, and leased to Bangor & Aroostook.  It was rebuilt by Alstom Canada to GP38-2 and sold as Roberval & Saguenay RR 67 on October 27, 2000.

3730, Class GP-40, was built in March 1969, #34853, FN 7158-31. It was later returned to GATX as 3730 on May 17, 1984.  It was rebuilt by Mid-America Car at Cleburne in May 1991 as Arizona & California RR as 3802, GP38AC.  It was renumbered 3893 in 2003.

3731, Class GP-40, was built in April 1969, #34854, FN 7158-32. It was renumbered 9731 in 1979 and returned as 3731 in 1980 as 3731, It was later returned to GATX as 3731 on May 17, 1984. It was rebuilt by Peaker Services in January 1986 and leased to PC&N as 3731.  It later was sold to FWWR as 2006 "General Tarrant".

3733, Class GP-40, was built in April 1969, #34856, FN 7158-34.  It was renumbered 9733 on August 13, 1979, and returned as 3733 in January 1980. It was later returned to GATX as 3733 on May 17, 1984  It was leased in December 1991 as St Lawrence & Atlantic RR 3733 and rebuilt by VMV as Locomotive Leasing Partners 3003 on September 7, 2001.  It was leased as Portland & Western RR 3003 and returned as GMTX 3003.

3735, Class GP-40, was built in April 1969, #34858, FN 7158-36. It was renumbered 9735 on August 13, 1979, and returned as 3716 in March 1980 and returned as GATX 3716 on May 17, 1984.  It was rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen on July 1, 1991, as SP 7137.  It was assigned UP 5415 in September 1979 and became UP 1515, Class GP40M-2, on June 12, 2007.

3736, Class GP-40, was built in April 1969, #34859, FN 7158-37.  It was leased as 9736 in March 1980 and between February 1981 and April 30, 1981.  It was returned as GATX 3736 on May 17, 1984,  and rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen as SP 7103, GP40M-2, on March 8, 1991.  It was assigned as UP 5373 and became 1473, Class GP40M-2, on October 10, 2007.

3737, Class GP-40, was built in April 1969, #34860, FN 7158-38.  It was leased as 9737 beginning early 1979 until January 18, 1980, and again in March 1980.  It was returned as GATX 3737 on May 17, 1984, and rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen as SP 7130, GP40M-2, on April 1, 1991.  It was assigned as UP 5408 and became 1508, Class GP40M-2, on September 30, 2004.

3738, Class GP-40, was built in April 1966, #34861, FN 7158-39.  It was returned as GATX 3738 on May 1, 1984, and rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen as SP 7129 on April 1, 1991.  It was assigned as UP 5407, Class GP40M-2, in September 1997 and became UP 1507 on December 12, 2003.

3739, Class GP-40, was built in April 1969, #34862, FN 7158-40.  It was wrecked in 1976 and restored.  It was leased as 9739 on August 13, 1979, until January 1980.  It was returned as GATX 3739 on May 17, 1984, and rebuilt by Livingston Rebuild Center as Burlington Northern 3084, Class GP40G, in April 1989.  It was retired on February 28, 1992, and returned to GATX on June 1, 1992.  It was leased to Missouri & Northern Arkansas as 3084 in December 1992 and transferred as Salt Lake City Southern 3084 in 1995.  It was transferred as Central Oregon & Pacific 3084 and renumbered 4024 in 1998.

3742, Class GP-40, was built in December 1970, #36723, FN 7275-3.  It was renumbered 6518 in 1986 and became CSX Transportation 6518, Class GP40, in 1987.  It was retired on October 30, 1992, and sold to Morrison Knudsen on May 4, 1993.  It was rebuilt at Boise as Maryland Area Regional Commuter 52, GP40WH-2, on July 13, 1994.  It was sold to Motive Power Industries and rebuilt as SunRail 100 in September 2013.

3743, Class GP-40, was built in December 1970, #36724, FN 7275-4.  It was renumbered from September 1976 until January 1980 as temporary 9743.  It became 6519 in 1986 and became CSX 6519, Class GP-40, in 1987.  It was retired on December 9, 1992 and sold to Steel Processing Corp on March 11, 1993.  It was shipped to Metro East Industries on April 19, 1993, and sold to Morrison Knudsen.  It was rebuilt by Boise Locomotive on April 10, 1998, as Texas-Mexican Ry 1175.  It was returned as First Union Rail 1175 and sold as Herzog Contracting Corp 206 in 2011.

3746, Class GP-40, was built in December 1970, #36727, FN 7275-7.  It was renumbered from early 1979 until March 1980 as temporary 9746.  It became 6522 in 1986 and became CSX 6522, Class GP-40, in 1987.  It was retired in July 1998 and renumbered 9730, Class MOW, on September 1, 1998.  It was rebuilt as 2378, Class Road Slug, in 2008.

3750, Class GP-40, was built in January 1971, #36731, FN 7275-11.  It was renumbered 6526 in 1986.  It became CSX 6526, Class GP-40, in 1987 and retired on June 23, 1994.  It was sold to National Railway Equipment on August 12, 1994, and sold as New England Central 6526 in March 1995.  It was renumbered 4049 in 1999.

3753, Class GP-40, was built in January 1971, #36734, FN 7275-14.  It became CSX 6529, Class GP-40, and rebuilt by Motive Power Industries as Union Pacific 2518, GP38-3, on August 2, 1997.  It was renumbered 1018 on April 23, 2003, and retired on November 15, 2007.  It was returned as Helm Leasing Co 1018 and leased as Kansas City Southern 1018.  It was sold as Wichita Tillman & Jackson 1018 in April 2012.

3754, Class GP-40, was built in January 1971, #36735, FN 7275-15.  It was renumbered in 1979 until January 16, 1980, as 9754 and became CSX 6530, Class GP-40.  It was retired on June 8, 1990, and rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen to GP40M-2, as St Louis South-Western 7293 on January 25, 1991.  It was assigned UP 5428 in September 1997 and became UP 1528 on December 28, 1990.

3755, Class GP-40, was built in January 1971 #36736, FN 7275-16. It was renumbered in 1979 and 1980 numbered 9755 temporary. It later was renumbered 6531 and then became CSX 6531, Class GP-40. It was damaged and retired on January 13, 1993. It was purchased by National Railway Equipment on May 3, 1993, and was rebuilt by VMV as Kansas City Southern 4749 in March 1994.  It was renumbered 2853 in 2005.

3756, Class GP-40, was built in January 1971, #36737, FN 7275-17.  It was renumbered 9756 during March 1980.  It was renumbered 6532 in 1986 and became became CSX 6532, Class GP-40, in 1987. It was retired on June 23, 1994, and sold to Helm Atlantic Leasing as 400 on May 13, 1994.  It was sold as Green Mountain Ry 304 in December 1998.

3759, Class GP-40, was built in February 1971, #36740, FN 7275-20.  It was renumbered 9759 from February 1981 and April 30, 1981, and renumbered 6535 in 1986.  It became CSX 6535, Class GP-40, in 1987 and retired on June 8, 1990.  It was rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen as SSW 7283, GP40M-2, on December 14, 1990, and assigned UP 5418 in September 1997 and assigned 1518 in December 1999.  It became UP 1338 on March 20, 2009.

3763, Class GP-40, was built in February 1971, #36744, FN 7275-24.  It was renumbered 9763 from February 1981 and April 30, 1981, and renumbered 6539 in 1986.  It became CSX 6539, Class GP-40, in 1987 and sold to Locomotive Leasing Partners on May 31, 2000.  It was stored for parts.

3764, Class GP-40, was built in February 1971, #36745, FN 7275-25.  It was renumbered 9764 from February 1981 and April 30, 1981, and renumbered 6540 in 1986.  It became CSX 6540, Class GP-40, in 1987 and wrecked at Walbridge, OH, on January 15, 1996.  It was retired on February 1, 1997, and sold to Helm Leasing Corp.  It was shipped to Metro East Industries and rebuilt by VMV at Paducah as a GP38-3 on January 26, 1998 as Union Pacific 2524, Class GP38-3.  It was renumbered 1024 on November 5, 2001, and retired on October 13, 2003.  It was returned to Helm and leased as Kansas City Southern 1024.  It was sold as Nebraska Central RR 1024 in 2011.

3769, Class GP-40, was built in March 1971, #37193, FN 7301-5.  It was renumbered 6545 in 1986 and became CSX 6545, Class GP-40, in 1987.  It was retired on December 9, 1992.  It was sold as National Railway Equipment Co 6545 on February 15, 1993, and rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen Corp as 4303 on January 24, 1994, and leased to Bangor & Aroostook.  It was repossessed by Helm Atlantic on December 15, 2000, and sold as Paducah & Louisville 4303 in January 2001.  It was rebuilt as 2111 in May 2001.

3771, Class GP-40, was built in March 1971, #37196, FN 7301-8. It was renumbered 9771 in February 1981 and back as 3771 in April 30l 1981. It was renumbered 6547, Class GP-40, and later CSX 6547, Class GP-40. It was retired on May 25, 1993, and sold as Helm Atlantic Corp in May 12, 1994. It was rebuilt in VMV in September 1, 1994, as Florida East Coast 444.

3775, Class GP-40, was built in March 1971, #37199, FN 7301-11.  It was renumbered 9775 in 1979 and back as 3775 in January 1980.  It was renumbered 6550 and later CSX 6550, Class GP-40.  It was rebuilt as 2362, Class Road Slug, in 2008.

3776, Class GP-40, was built in March 1971, #37200, FN 7301-12.  It was renumbered 9776 in 1979 and back as 3776 in March 1980 and back to 9776 in February 1981 and return as 3776 on April 30, 1981.  It was renumbered 6551 and later CSX 6551, Class GP-40.  It was retired on January 16, 1991, rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen to GP40M-2, as Southern Pacific 7124 on June 25, 1991.  It was assigned Union Pacific 5402 in September 1997 and became UP 1502 on May 4, 2003.

3777, Class GP-40, was built in March 1971, #37201, FN 7301-13.  It was renumbered 6552 and later CSX 6552, Class GP-40.  It was retired on June 8, 1991.  It was rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen to GP40M-2, as SSW 7292 on January 18, 1991.  It was assigned as UP 5427, Class GP40M-2, and became UP 1527 on June 12, 2004.

3778, Class GP-40, was built in March 1971, #37202, FN 7317-1.  It was temporarily numbered 9778 in mid February 1981 until April 30, 1981.  It was renumbered 6553 in 1986 and became CSX 6553, Class GP-40, in 1987.  It was rebuilt as 2373, Class Road Slug, in 2008.
