Electro-Motive SD40 Diesels

8300, Class SD-40, was built in June 1966, #31799, FN 7902-1, as Gainesville Midland Ry 10.  It became Seaboard System 0010 in January 1983 and became CSX 8300, Class SD-40, in April 1986.  It was rebuilt as 4300 and later scrapped.

8301, Class SD-40, was built in June 1966, #32088, FN 5701-1, as Louisville & Nashville 1225, Class SD-40.  It became SBD 1225 in January 1983 and renumbered 8301 in 1984.  It became CSX 8301, Class SD-40, in April 1986 and sold as VMV Entrprises 8301.  It was rebuilt to General Motors Corp as EMDX 6500 and rebuilt as Belt Ry of Chicago 574.  It was rebuilt as slug and renumbered BRC 570B.

8303, Class SD-40, was built in June 1966, #32090, FN 5709-3, as L&N 1227, Class SD-40. It later became SBD 1227 in January 1983 and renumbered 8303 in 1984.  It became CSX 8303, Class SD-40, in April 1986.  It was sold as Morrison Knudsen Corp 8303 and rebuilt at Moutaintop in June 1994.  It became Southern Pacific 8640, SD40M-2, on July 1, 1994, and assigned Union Pacific  4666, Class SD40M-2, and became UP 2716 on December 15, 2000.  It was sold as New England Central 2716 in 2011.

8304, Class SD-40, was built in June 1966, #32091, FN 5709-4, as L&N 1228, Class SD-40. It later became SBD 1228 in January 1983 and renumbered 8304 in 1984.   It became CSX 8304, Class SD-40, in April 1986 and rebuilt as Class SD40-2.  It was wrecked at Archer, WV, on August 20, 1996..

8306, Class SD-40, was built in April 1969, #34759, FN 7155-2, as L&N 1230, Class SD-40.  It later became SBD 1230 in January 1983 and renumbered 8306 in 1984.  It became CSX 8306, Class SD-40, in April 1986 and sold to Morrison Knudsen.  It was rebuilt as Utah Ry 9010 on November 15, 1991, and returned to MK on June 30, 2001.  It was sold to Railway Service Contractors as MJRX 9010 and leased as First Energy Generation Corp 9010 in October 2008.

8307, Class SD-40, was built in April 1969, #34760, FN 7155-3, as L&N 1231, Class SD-40.  It later became SBD 1231 in January 1983 and renumbered 8307 in 1984.  It became CSX 8307, Class SD-40, in April 1986 and rebuilt as Motive Power International 9038.  It was transferred to Morrison Knudsen Corp as MKCX 9038 and as Helm Leasing Corp 9038 in May 1996.

8308, Class SD-40, was built in April 1969, #34761, FN 7155-4, as L&N 1232, Class SD-40.  It later became SBD 1232 in January 1983 and renumbered 8308 in 1984.  It became CSX 8308, Class SD-40, in April 1986 and sold as VMV 8308.   It was rebuilt as EMDX 6501 and rebuilt to First Union Rail as FURX 3043, SD40-2.  It was sold as Kiamichi RR 3381 in November 2013.

8309, Class SD-40, was built in April 1969, #34762, FN 7155-5, as L&N 1233, Class SD-40.  It later became SBD 1233 in January 1983 and renumbered 8309 in 1984.  It later became CSX 8309, Class SD-40, in April 1986 and renumbered 4601, Class Hump Unit.

8315, Class SD-40, was built in August 1970, #36809, FN 7282-1, as L&N 1239, Class SD40.  It became SBD 1239 in January 1983 and renumbered 8315 in 1984.  It became CSX 8315, Class SD-40, in April 1986 and rebuilt by VMV Enterprised as Class SD40M-2.

8316, Class SD-40, was built in August 1970, #36810, FN 7282-02, as L&N 1240, Class SD-40.  It became SBD 8316 and later CSX 8316, Class SD-40.  It was sold as National Railway Equipment Co  8316 and sold as MKCX 9416.  It was leased as Dakota Minnesota & Eastern 6056 "City of Eyota" on June 25, 1997, and rebuilt by Alstom in 2000 to First Union Rail as FURX 3016, SD40-2.

8318, Class SD-40, was built in August 1970, #36812, FN 7282-4, as L&N 1242, Class SD-40.  It became SBD 1242 in January 1983 and renumbered 8318 in 1984.  It became CSX 8318, Class SD-40, in April 1986.

8322, Class SD-40, was built in August 1970, #36816, FN 7282-8, as L&N 1246, Class SD-40.  It became SBD 1246 in January 1983 and renumbered 8322 in 1984.  It became CSX 8322, Class SD-40, in April 1986.  It was sold as NRE 8322 and sold as MKCX 9417.  It was leased as DM&E 6057 "City of Miller" on June 25, 1997, and rebuilt by Alstom in 2000 as FURX 3008, SD40-2.

8324, Class SD-40, was built in May 1971, #38203, FN 5787-1, as L&N 1249, Class SD-40. It later became SBD 1249 in January 1983 and renumbered 8324 in 1984.  It became CSX 8324, Class SD-40, in April 1986.  It was rebuilt as MPI 9040 in 1990.  It was transferred as MKCX 9040 and back as MPI  9040 and as HLCX 9040 in May 1996.  It was sold to Allied Services as ASDX 9040 in 2012.

8327, Class SD-40, was built in May 1971, #38205, FN 5787-3, as L&N 1251, Class SD-40.  It became SBD 1251 in January 1983 and renumbered 8327 in 1984.  It became CSX 8327, Class SD-40, in April 1986 and sold as VMV Enterprise 8327.  It was rebuilt for General Motors as EMDX 6502 and rebuilt as Belt Ry of Chicago 573, SD38-3.  It was sold to Cargill Inc as CRGX 573 in 2013.

8328, Class SD-40, was built in May 1971, #38206, FN 5787-4. as L&N 1252, Class SD-40.  It became SBD 1252 in January 1983 and renumbered 8328 in 1984.  It became CSX 8328, Class SD-40, in April 1986.  It was rebuilt as Class SD40-2.

8331, Class SD-40, was built in May 1971, #38209, FN 5787-7, as L&N 1255, Class SD-40.  It became SBD 1255 in January 1983 and renumbered 8331 in 1984.  It became CSX 8331, Class SD-40, in April 1986.  It was rebuilt as Class SD40-2.

8332, Class SD-40. was built in May 1971, #38210, FN 5787-8, as L&N 1256, Class SD-40.  It became SBD 1256 in January 1983 and renumbered 8332 in 1984.  It became CSX 8332, Class SD-40, in April 1986.  It was renumbered as 4608, Class Hump Unit, and transferred as Toledo Ore Dock Co 999.

8333, Class SD-40, was built in May 1971, #38211, FN 5787-9, as L&N 1257, Class SD-40.  It became SBD 1257 in January 1983 and renumbered 8333 in 1984.  It became CSX 8333, Class SD-40, in April 1986 and sold as VMV 8333.  It was rebuilt as EMDX 6504 and rebuilt as BRC 571.

8337 Class SD40, was built in September 1966, #32143, FN 5710-3, as Clinchfield RR  3002.  It later became SBD 8278 in January 1983 and renumbered 8337 in 1984.  It became CSX 8337, Class SD-40, in April 1986.  It was rebuilt as Class SD40-2.

8339, Class SD-40, was built in September 1966, #32145, FN 5710-5, as Clinchfield 3004.  It later became SBD 8280 in January 1983 and renumbered 8339 in 1984.  It became CSX 8339, Class SD-40, in April 1986.  It was sold and rebuilt as Companie de Bauxite du Guinea 104.

8340. Class SD-40, was built in September 1966, #32147, FN 5710-7, as Clinchfield 3006.  It later became SBD 8281 in January 1983 and then was renumbered 8340 in 1984. It later became CSX 8340, Class SD-40.

8341, Class SD-40, was built in September 1966, #32148, FN 5710-8, as Clinchfield 3007.  It became SBD 8282 in January 1983 and renumbered 8341 in 1984.  It became CSX 8341, Class SD-40, in April 1987.  It was rebuilt by MK Rail as Southern Pacific 8630 on May 21, 1994, and became Union Pacific 2706, Class SD40M-2, on January28, 2003.


8342, Class SD-40, was built in September 1968, #34177, FN 7124-1, as Clinchfield RR 3008. It later became SBD 8283 in January 1983 and then was renumbered 8342 in 1984. It later became CSX 8342, Class SD-40.

8343, Class SD-40, was built in January 1969, #34742, FN 7152-1, as Clinchfield 3009. It later became SBD 8284 in January 1983 and then was renumbered 8343 in 1984. It later became CSX 8343, Class SD-40.

8344, Class SD-40, was built in January 1969, #34743, FN 7152-2, as Clinchfield 3010.  It later became SBD 8285 in January 1983 and then was renumbered 8344 in 1984.  It became CSX 8344, Class SD-40, and rebuilt as 4609, Class Hump Unit SD-40.

8345, Class SD-40, was built in February 1969, #34744, FN 7152-3, as Clinchfield 3011.  It later became SBD 8286 and then renumbered 8345.  It later became CSX 8345, Class SD-40, and sold as VMV Enterprises  8345.  It was sold as General Motors Corp and rebuilt at VMV as Union Pacific 4775 on October 24, 1999, as SD40-2.  It was renumbered 2825 on January 8, 2002, and retired on June 6, 2002.  It was returned as Locomotive Leasing Partners 2825.

8347, Class SD-40, was built in February 1969, #34746, FN 7152-5, as Clinchfield 3013  It later became SBD 8288 and then renumbered 8347.  It later became CSX 8347, Class SD-40.

8349, Class SD-40, was built in June 1971, #37417, FN 7311-1, as Clinchfield 3015.  It later became SBD 8290 and then renumbered 8349.  It later became CSX 8349, Class SD-40.

8353, Class SD-40, was built in June 1971, #37421, FN 7311-5, as Clinchfield 3019.  It later became SBD 8294 and then was renumbered 8353.  It later became CSX 8353, Class SD-40, and renumbered as 4612.

8354, Class SD-40, was built in June 1971, #37422, FN 5776-1, as Clinchfield 3020. It later became SBD 8295 and then was renumbered 8354. It later became CSX 8354, Class SD-40.

8355, Class SD-40, was built in October 1971, #37538, FN 5776-2, as Clinchfield 3021.  It later became SBD 8296 in January 1983 and renumbered 8355 in 1984.  It became CSX 8355, Class SD-40, in April 1986 and sold as VMV Enterprises 8355.  It was sold as General Motors Corp as EMDX 6506 and rebuilt as Belt Ry of Chicago 572, SD38-3.  It was rebuilt as BRC 573B, slug.

8358, Class SD-40, was built in June 1971, #37541, FN 5776-5, as Clinchfield 3024. It later became SBD 8299 and then was renumbered 8358, It later became CSX 8358, Class SD-40, and then was sold to VMV as 8358. It was rebuilt as EMDX 6507 for the lease fleet and leased as Northshore Mining Co 650.

8363, Class SD-40, was built in April 1969, #34782, FN 7159-8, as Chesapeake & Ohio 7504, Class SD-40.  It was renumbered 8363 in 1984 and became CSX 8363, Class SD-40, in 1985.  It was sold as VMV 8363 and rebuilt as EMDX 6508.  It was rebuilt as BRC 575, SD38-3.

8375, Class SD-40, was built in June 1970, #36705, FN 7276-10, as C&O 7516, Class SD-40.  It was renumbered 8375 in 1984 and became CSX 8375, Class SD-40, in 1985.  It was renumbered as 4614, Class Hump Unit, and scrapped in 2012.

8378, Class SD-40 was built in July 1970, #36748, FN 7276-13, as C&O 7519, Class SD-40,  It was renumbered 8378 in 1984 and became CSX 8378. C;ass SD-40, in 1985.  It was purchase by MK and rebuilt as as Utah Ry 9005 on October 28, 1991.  It was returned to MK on June 30, 2001.  It was sold to Railway Service Contractors  MJRX on August 15, 2006 and sold as Wisconsin & Southern 4078 in August 2008.  It sold to WATCo as WAMX 4191.

8379, Class SD-40, was built in July 1970, #36749, FN 7276-14, as C&O 7520, Class SD-40.  It was renumbered 8379 in 1984 and became CSX 8379, Class SD-40, in 1985.  It was purchased by MK and rebuilt as Utah Ry 9006 on October 28, 1991.  It was returned to MK on June 30, 2001, and sold as MJRX on August 16, 2006.  It was sold as WSOR 4079 in February 2009 and sold as WAMX 4192.

8381, Class SD-40, was built in July 1970, #36751, FN 7276-16, as C&O 7522, Class SD-40.  It was renumbered 8381 in 1984. It became CSX 8381, Class SD-40, in 1985 and purchased by MK.  It was rebuilt as Utah Ry 9007 on October 31, 1991, and returned to MK on June 30, 2001.  It was leased as Elgin Joliet & Eastern 751 in October 2001 and returned by Motive Power International as MPEX 751 in January 2004.  It was sold to Railway Service Contractors as MJRX 751 and sold as WSOR 4076 in September 2007.  It was sold as WAMX 4189.

8382, Class SD-40, was built in July 1970, #36752, FN 7276-17, as C&O 7523, Class SD-40.  It was renumbered 8382 in 1984 and became CSX 8382, Class SD-40, in 1985.  It was purchased by MK and rebuilt as Utah Ry 9001 on September 24, 1991.  It was returned to MK on June 30, 2001 and leased as EJ&E 750 in October 2001.  It was returned in January 2004 as MPEX 750 and sold as MJRX 750.  It was sold as WSOR 4077 in February 2008 and became WAMX 4190.

8384, Class SD-40, was built in July 1970, #36754, FN 7276-19, C&O 7525, Class SD-40.  It was renumbered 8384 in 1984.  It became CSX 8384, Class SD-40, in 1985 and purchased by MK.  It was rebuilt as Utah Ry 9002 on April 6, 1991, and returned on June 30, 2001.  It was sold as MJRX 9002.

8398, Class SD-40, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1969, #34969, #7172-3, as Western Maryland 7447, Class DS-32.  It was renumbered 7547, Class SD-40, and renumbered 8398 in 1986.  It became CSX 8422, Class SD-40, in August 1987and sold to Morrison Knudsen in 1991.  It was rebuilt as Utah RR 9011 on November 26, 1991.  It was retired on June 30,  2001.  It was leased to Elgin Joliet & Eastern by Motive Power International as MPEX 752.  It was sold as MJRX 752.

8402, Class SD-40, was built in August 1966, #31930, FN 7886-2, as C&O 7451, Class SD-40 .  It was renumbered 7551 and became CSX  8402, Class SD-40.  It was sold as Morrison-Knudsen 8402 and rebuilt as Southern Pacific 8643 on July 13, 1994.  It was assigned Union Pacific 4669 and became UP 2718 on July 27, 2001.

8407, Class SD-40, was built in July 1966, #31935, FN 7907-2, as C&O 7456, Class SD-40. It was renumbered 7556 in December 1973 and later 8407. It then became CSX 8407, Class SD-40.

8412, Class SD-40,  was built in August 1966, #31940, FN 7907-5, as C&O 7461, Class SD-40.  It was renumbered 7561 in December 1973 and became CSX 8412, Class SD-40.  It was sold as VMV 8412 and rebuilt by MK Rail as SP 8628 on August 20, 1994.  It was assigned UP 4654 and assigned 2704 but was wrecked on June 21, 2000.

8413, Class SD-40, was built in August 1966, #31941, FN 7905-6, as C&O 7462, Class SD-40.  It was renumbered 7562 in December 1973 and became CSX 8413, Class SD-40, in 1986.  It was rebuilt as Class SD40-2.

8418, Class SD-40, was built in August 1966, #31946, FN 7907-11. as C&O 7467, Class SD-40.  It was renumbered 7567 in December 1973 and renumbered 8418 in 1984.  It became CSX 8418, Class SD-40 in 1985 and rebuilt as Class SD40-2 in September 1966.

8419, Class SD-40, was built in August 1966, #31947, FN 7907-12, as C&O 7468, Class SD-40.  It was renumbered 7568 in December 1973 and renumbered 8419 in 1984.  It became CSX 8419, Class SD-40, in 1985 and rebuilt by VMV as Class SD40-2.  It was rebuilt by National Railway Equipment Co as 1600, Class 3GS21C, in January 2011.

8422, Class SD-40, was built in August 1966, #32135, FN 5714-12, as Western Maryland 7471, Class SD-40.  It was renumbered 8422 in 1986 and became CSX 8422, Class SD-40, in August 1987.  It was sold to Morrison Knudsen in 1991 and rebuilt as Motive Power International 9044.  It was transferred as MKCX 9044 and sold to Helm Leasing Co as HLCX 9044.  It was sold as Georges Creek Ry 7471.

8427, Class SD-40, was built in May 1967, #33155, FN 7972-2, as C&O 7476, Class SD-40.  It was renumbered 7576 in December 1973 and renumbered 8427 in 1984.  It became CSX 8427, Class SD-40, in 1985 and rebuilt as Class SD40-2.
