Gainesville Midland RR

 

This road was opened in 1904 between Gainesville and Athens, Georgia. It came under the control of the Seaboard Air Line RR and is now a part of CSX.

10, SD40, was built by Electro-Motive in June 1966, #31799, FN 7902-1.  It became Seaboard System 0010 in January 1983 and became CSX Transportation 8300, Class SD40, in April 1986.  It was rebuilt as 4300 and later scrapped.

116 was built by Baldwin in 1907, #32013, as Central of Georgia 215.  It was sold as GM  116.

203 was built by Baldwin in January 1928, #60342, as Alabama Tennessee & Northern 402. It was sold as GMRR 203 in 1946 later donated to City of Athens, GA.  It was donated to NRHS Atlanta, GA, in 1959 and leased to Tennessee Valley Railway Museum.  It is now preserved at the Southeastern Railway Museum.

206 was built by Alco-Brooks in March 1918, #58902, for the Imperial Russian State Rys E1198.  It was taken as United States Railroad Administration 1088 and sold as Wheeling & Lake Erie 1088 in April 1918.  It was resold as Detroit Toledo & Ironton 311 in 1920 and resold as Seaboard Air Line 544 in January 1935. It later went to the GM as 206 and donated to NRHS Atlanta in 1965.  It was sold in 1979 in North Carolina Transportation Museum and was restored as SAL 544.

208 was built by Baldwin in March 1930, #61230, and was formerly SAL 530, Class D-3. It was sold as GM 208 and donated to City of Winder in 1959.

209 was built by Baldwin in March 1930, #61233, and was formerly SAL 533, Class D-3.  It was leased for a time on Durham & Southern and sold as GM 209 in 1955.  It was donated to City of Gainesville in 1959.

301 was built by Baldwin Locomotive in June 1920, #53315, as Charlotte Harbor & Northern Ry 72.  It became SAL 930, Class CH&N, in 1928, and sold as GM 301.  It was donated to City of Charlotte, NC, in November 1959.
