Winchester & Western RR

This company has two separate operations.  The original line is former Pennsylvania trackage from Hagerstown, MD, to Winchester, WV, and then to Gore, VA.  It also operates in New Jersey over former Central RR of New Jersey trackage from Seabrook to Haleyville with a branch to Norma and over former Pennsylvania-Reading Shoreline track from Millville and Dorchester.

3, S2, was built by Alco in October 1949, #77165, as Chesapeake & Ohio 5026, Class MSA-10.  It was transferred as Baltimore & Ohio 9115, Class S-2, in 1963 and sold to Luntz Iron & Steel on November 3, 1972.  It was sold through George R Silcott as Rohm & Haas 9115 in 1973 and resold as W&W 3 in 1985.  It was sold as West Chester RR 3 in 1996.

78, S6, was built by Alco in December 1955, #81429, as Southern Pacific 4642, Class DF-307.  It was reclassified Class DS-607 in 1963 and renumbered 1278, Class AS409-5, in 1966.  It was later sold as W&W 78.

80, S6, was built by Alco in December 1955, #81431, as SP 4644, Class DF-307.  It was reclassified Class DS-607 in 1963 and renumbered 1280, Class AS409-5, in 1966.  It was later sold as W&W 80.

114, SW1, was built by Electro-Motive in February 1940, #1021, FN E295-2, as Lehigh Valley RR 114, Class BB-4.  It was reclassified Class DS-2 and traded in to Alco.  It was sold as Maryland Port Authority 114 and transferred as Ocean City Western 114 in August 1973.  It was stored in 1974 and sold as W&W 114.

351, RS11, was built by Alco in November 1957, #82868, as Norfolk & Western 351.  It was sold to Naporano Iron & Metal and then as W&W 351.

403, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1954, #19464, FN 5324-4, as Texas & New Orleans 403, Class DF-600.  It was renumbered Southern Pacific 3403, Class EF418-1, in 1966 and sold to Precision National Corp as PNC 3403 in December 1970.  It was rebuilt in May 1971 It was sold to Tidewater Grain Co as TWGX 3403 and sold as W&W 403.

410, F7A, was built by Electro-Motive in March 1949, #6600, FN E1013-A3, as Chicago & North Western 4068A. It was rebuilt for suburban service in 1959 and renumbered 410 in December 1971. It was sold to Regional Transportation Authority (Metra) on December 31, 1977, and leased back to C&NW. It was retired by RTA on May 2, 1983, and sold it to Rails Diversified Inc as 410 in March 1985. They sold it to W&W and they resold it to Maryland Midland RR as 100. It finally was sold to Short Line Enterprises as Fillmore & Western 100.

413, F7A, was built by Electro-Motive in December 1949, #8570, FN E1188-A23, as C&NW 4083A. It was rebuilt for suburban service in 1959 and renumbered 413 in December 1971. It was sold to RTA on December 31, 1977, and leased back to C&NW. It was retired on May 2, 1983, and sold to Naporano Iron & Metal in 1985. It was resuld to Rails Diversified in March 1985 as 413. Then it was sold to W&W and then to MDMD as 101. It was later sold to SLE as F&W 101.

445, GP9u, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1955, #20133, FN 5377-5, as SP 5608, Class DF-605.  It was renumbered 3445, Class EF418-5, in 1966 and sold as PNC 3445 in December 1970.  It was rebuilt at Paducah in 1971.  It was sold as TWGX 3445 and sold as W&W 445.

475, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1955, #20480, FN 5395-28, as New York Chicago & St Louis 475, Class ERS-17A.  It became Norfolk & Western 2475 in September 1966 and was retired on April 22, 1985.  It was traded in to General Electric and  sold it to Gibbs Railway Equipment,  It was sold to W&W as 475 in September 1986.

498, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in September 1956, #21924, FN 5462-13, as NYC&StL 498, Class ERS-17D. In  December 1966 it became N&W 2498. It was retired on April 22, 1985, and traded in to General Electric. They sold it to Gibbs Railway Equipment, who sold it to WW as 498 in September 1986.

572, GP9u, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1959, #24314, FN 5556-33, as Pennsylvania RR 7262, Class EFS-17m.  It was Class ERS-17 in 1966 and then Penn Central 7262, Class ERS-17, in 1968.  It then was Consolidated Railroad Corp 7262, Class GP-9, in April 1976 and rebuilt at Precision National in 1977 as 7572, Class GP-10.  It was later sold as W&W 572.

575, GP9u, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1959, #24317, FN 5556-36, as PRR 7265, Class EFS-17m.  It was reclassified as Class ERS-17 in 1966 and then PC 7265, Class ERS-17, in 1968.  It became Conrail 7265, Class GP-9, in April 1976 and rebuilt at Precision National in 1977 as 7575, Class GP-10.  It was later sold as W&W 575.

811, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive  in January 1959, #25089, FN 5592-17, as NYC&StL 811, Class ERS-17G.  In April 1966 it became N&W 2811 and became Norfolk Southern 1481, Class GP-9. in 1983.  It was retired on April 5, 1985, and traded in to General Electric.  It was sold to Gibb and sold as W&W 811 in September 1986

863, RS11, was built by Alco in February 1959, #83027, as  New York Chicago & St Louis 863, Class ARS-18C.  It became Norfolk & Western 2863 in 1965 and retired on October 8, 1980.  It was sold to Naporano Iron & Metal on September 24, 1981, and then as W&W 863 in December 1981.

2098, MRS1, was built by Alco and General Electric in 1953, #80412, #31653, as United States Army B2098.  It was sold to Eveready Machine Co and sold as W&S 2098 in 1979.  It was never used and returned to Eveready in 1980.  It was sold to Panama.

2112, MRS1, was built by Alco and General Electric in 1953, #80345, #31667, as USA B2112.  It was sold to Eveready Machine and sold as W&W 2112 in 1979.  It was never used and returned to Eveready in 1980.  It was sold as Kentucky Railway Museum 2112.

3606, RS11, was built by Alco in September 1956, #81940, as Duluth Winnipeg & Pacific 3606, Class MR-18A. It went to Central Vermont as 3606, Class MR-18A, in March 1983, and to Quaboag Transfer in October 1985. It was sold to W&W on October 1988 and became Wimpey Materials Co 360 in March 1991.

3605, RS11, was built by Alco in September 1956, #81939, as DW&P 3605, Class MR-18a.  It went to CV as 3605, Class MR-18a, and sold as W&W 3605.  It was sold as Indiana Box Car Co 605 in 1997.

3609, RS11, was built by Alco in September 1956, #82026, as DW&P 3609, Class MR-18a. It wrecked at Chicopee, MA, in August 1979 and rebuilt as CV 3609, Class MR-18a,  It was sold as W&W 3609.

3611, RS11, was built by Alco in September 1956, #82028, as DW&P 3611, Class MR-18A. It went to CV as 3611, Class MR-18A, in January 1965. It was returned to DW&P in 1968 and later went back to CV. It was sold to QT in November 1985 and to W&W in October 1988.   It was sold as Miller Milling Co 3611 in 1996.

8411, SW1, was built by Electro-Motive on August 14, 1940, #1109, FN 324-12, as Baltimore & Ohio 211, Class DS-3.  It was reclassified Class DS-3E in 1943 and renumbered 8411, Class SE-1, in 1957.  It was sold as W&W 8411 in 1964 and resold as Mount Airy Cold Storage Co 8411 in 1985.  It was transferred as Chambersburg Cold Storage 8411 in 1995.

(8066), GP9u, was built by Electro-Motive in December 1954, #19908, FN 5359-19, as Illinois Central 9066.  It was rebuilt at Paducah in August 1969 as 8066 and sold as Eastern Shore RR 8066 "Exmore" in April 1985.  It was retired in 2005 and sold for parts to W&W in 2005.
