California State Railway Museum
Central Pacific 1 "Gov. Stanford" was built by Richard Norris & Son in 1862, #1040. It was renumbered 212 and donated to Stanford University in March 1899. It was donated to Railway & Locomotive Historical Society in May 1963,. and went to the CSRM.
Nevada Short Line 1 was built by Baldwin in March 1879, #4562, as Utah & Northern Ry 13. It became Oregon Short Line & Utah Northern Ry 13 in August 1889 and sold out in February 1897. It was sold as Glasgow & Western Exploration Co. in 1899 as Golconda & Adelaide RR "Pearl" and sold to Sugarman Iron & Metal Co in March 1913. It was sold as Nevada Short Line 1 in 1914 and sold to a scrap dealer in 1920. It was sold as Nevada Central RR 6 in 1924 and sold to J M Hiskey in 1938. It was sold to Golden Gate International Exposition in 1938 and donated to Railway & Locomotive Historical Society (Oakland) in 1941. It was transferred to Pacific Coast Chapter and donated to CSRM in 1969.
Mattole Lumber Co. 1 was built by Vulcan Iron Works in August 1908, #1240. It was caught in an earthquake and rescued it by Eric Thomson in 1940. It was sold to Henry Sorenson in February 1950 and restored it. It was donated in December 2004 to CSRM after he passed.
Central Pacific 3 "C. P. Huntington" was built by Danforth Cooke & Co in October 1863, #277. It became Southern Pacific 1 "C. P. Huntington" on February 5, 1871, and donated to State of California in September 1964. It was then donated to Railway & Locomotive Historical Society in June 1969. It went to CSRM.
Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe 5 was built by Baldwin in January 1900, #17333, as Santa Fe Terminal Ry 1. It was transferred as AT&SF 2419, Class 2419, in 1912 and renumbered 02419 on June 29, 1945. It was renumbered 9419, Class 9419, on December 26, 1945, and rebuilt in 1948. The tank was removed, tender added, phony stack, and a new name and number, "Little Buttercup" 5. It showed up at the Chicago Railroad Fair. It was donated to CSRM in 1986 and moved into California Trolley & Railroad Corp.
Kiso Forest Ry 6 was built by Baldwin in June 1929, #60873, for Imperial Forestry Bureau. It was sold to Henry L Sorensen in 1960. It was converted from 30" to 36" and donated to CSRM in December 2004
Granite Rock Co 10 was built by H K Porter in August 1942, #7461, as United States Army 5001. It was sold to Hyman-Michaels Co in April 1947 and resold as GRCo 10 in April 1947. It was acquired by CSRM in 1997.
Virginia & Truckee 12 "Genoa" was built by M Bair & Co (Baldwin) in January 1873, #3090. It was sold to Eastern Railroads in 1938 for the New York Worlds Fair and donated to Railway & Locomotive Historical Society in 1940. It was shown at the Chicago Railroad Fair as Central Pacific 60 "Jupiter" and donated to the CSRM in 1969.
North Pacific Coast RR 12 "Sonoma" was built by Baldwin in March 1876, #3843. It was sold as Nevada Central 5 "Gen J H Ledlie" in 1879 and the name change as "Jos Collett" in June 1880. The name was removed in November 1888 and sold to J M Hiskey in 1938. It was resold as Golden Gate International Exposition in 1938 and donated to Railway & Locomotive Historical Society in 1941. It was then donated to CSRM and displayed as NPCRR 12.
V&T 13 "Empire" was built by M Bair & Co (Baldwin) in January 1873, #3091. It was renumbered 15 in 1910 since the crews thought it was unlucky number. It was sold as Pacific Portland Cement Co 501 in January 1934 and put in storage in 1931. It was donated to R&LHS in 1938 and sent to the San Francisco area. It was moved to Bethlehem Steel shipbuilding yard where it got cosmetic restoration in 1966. It went to CSRM in 1976 where it got a complete restoration between 1978 and 1981.
V&T 21 "J W Bowker" was built by Baldwin in February 1875, #3689. It was renamed "Mexico" in 1876 and resold as Sierra Nevada Wood & Lumber Co 3 in 1896. It became Hobart Estate Co 3 in 1917 transferred as Hobart Southern RR 3 in 1932. It was donated to Railway & Locomotive Historical Society in June 1937 and set up by Pacific Chapter in 1964. It went to CSRM in August 1969,
Northwestern Pacific 112 was built by Alco-Schenectady in February 1908, #44956. It was donated to Railway & Locomotive Historical Society Pacific Coast Chaoter and moved to CSRM in 1978.
Central Pacific 233, Class HA, was built by Sacramento Shops in January 1882, #16,. It sold as Southern Pacific 233 in March 1885 and later became Class EC. It was renumbered 1504 and Class S-1 in January 1901. It was renumbered 1903. It was retired in August 1912 and sold to L R Fields on August 8, 1914. It was sold as Oregon Portland Cement Co 1903 in April 1917. It was donated to California-Nevada Railroad Historical Society in July 1938 and donated to Pacific Locomotive Association on August 9, 1972. It was traded to the CSRM in October 2003.
National Railway Passenger Corp 281 was built by Electro-Motive in April 1978, #777063-2, FN 777063-2. It was sent to CSRM.
Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe 347C, Class 325, was built by Electro-Motive in September 1949, #8306, FN E1216-A6, as 39C, Class 37. It was renumbered 306C, Class 300, on April 29, 1971, and then 347C, Class 325, on August 22, 1973. It was retired on July 31, 1975, and went to CSRM.
Southern Pacific 475, caboose, was built by Pullman in 1911 as Houston & Texas Central 251, RPO. Class 40-P-1. It was rebuilt as RPO-baggage in June 1925 and became Texas & New Orleans 251, Class 40-P-1, in 1931. It was transferred as SP 6009 in 1944 and remodeled as 475 in 1956. It was retired in 1972 and acquired by Pacific Coast R&LHS. It was purchased by California State Railroad Museum in 1979 and stored.
Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe 543, H12-44TS, Class 541, was built by Faiirbanks Morse in May 1956, #12L1023. It was retired on May7, 1974, and preserved at Albuquerque. It was sent to CSRM in 1986
Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe 608, H12-44, Class 600, was built by Fairbanks Morse in November 1951, 12L439, as 508, Class 503. It was renumbered 608 in May 1973 and retired in March 1974. It was donated to CSRM in 198.and transferred as Museum of the American Railroad in 2018.
Southern Pacific 1000, Class DS-1, was built by Electro-Motive in February 1939, #804 FN E257-1, as Electro-Motive Corp 804. It was sold as SP 1000, Class DS-1, on April 1. 1939, and reclassified in 1966 as Class ES406-1. It was sold as Holly Sugar Co 1 in December 1967 and donated to CSRM. It planned to restore as SP 1000.
Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe 1010, Class 1000, was built by Baldwin in October 1901, #19630. It was simpled at La Junta in November 1923. It was loaned to CSRM in September 1979 and donated in March 1986.
Southern Pacific 1269, Class S-12, was built at Sacramento Shops in June 1921. It was retired at West Oakland on January 18, 1957, and donated to City of Richmond, CA, on September 24, 1957. It was donated to Pacific Locomotive Assn in September 1978. It was restored in April 1980 and donated to CSRM in 1983. It was returned to PLA in poor condition in 1993.
Southern Pacific 1771, Class M-8, was built by Baldwin in April 1902, #20389, as a compound, Class M-7. It was simpled at Sacramento on June 22, 1910, and became Class M-8 when it got a new Alco boiler on August 5, 1913. It was rebuilt in Sacramento on August 15, 1922, and retired at Sacramento on December 10, 1957. It was donated to City of Placerville, CA, on June 3, 1959, and removed it on May 19, 1985. It went to CSRM in May 1985 and it planned to restore for service .
Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe 2260, DS4-4-1000, Class 2260, was built by Baldwin in February 1948, #73576. It was retired on July 14, 1972, and donated to CSRM in 1973. It was transferred to MAR in 2018.
Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe 2404, Class 2493, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1939, #916, FN E258-2, as 2354, Class 2353. It was renumbered 2404, Class 2403, in 1945, and retired on June 1, 1972. It was donated to CSRM and transferred to MAR in 2018.
Southern Pacific 2467, Class P-8, was built by Baldwin in January 1921, #54472. It was rebuilt at Ogden on December 5, 1925, and rebuilt at Bayshore on April 5, 1939. It was retired on December 26, 1956, and donated to Oakland, CA on July 25, 1960. It was given to Golden Gate Railroad Museum in 2001 and went to the CSRM in 2008.
Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe 2925 Class 2900, was built by Baldwin in April 1944, #69813, It was donated to CSRM in March 1986.
Southern Pacific 4294, Class AC-12, was built by Baldwin in March 1944, #70101. It was retired on March 5, 1956, and donated to City of Sacramento on October 19, 1958. It was moved to CSRM in May 1981.
Union Pacific 4466, Class S-6, was built by Lima in October 1920, #6003. It was retired in July 1962 and donated to Railway & Locomotive Historical Society in May 1973. It was donated to California Railroad Museum in June 1978.
Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe 5021, Class 5011, was built by Baldwin in August 1944, #70827. It was donated to CSRM in March 1986.
Southern Pacific 5208, DR6-6-1500, Class DF-101, was built in May 1949, #74262. It was acquired thru Railway & Locomotive Historical Society in June 1978.
Southern Pacific 6051, E9A, Class DP-12, was built by Electro=Motive in December 1954, #20100, FN 2058-A5. In 1966 it was reclassified Class EP624A-1. It is now preserved at the CSRM
Southern Pacific MW8209, F7B, was built in June 1949, #8190, FN E1310-B18, as Southern Pacific 6151-C, It was renumbered 8103 and rebuilt as MW8209 in August 1970. snow plow power car. It was acquired by CSRM and later transferred to Museum of American Railroad
Atchison Topken & Santa Fe 9820, Class 9800, was built on June 26, 1959, #83479, as 820, Class 800. It was burned at Needles in July 1969 and rebuilt as 9820, Class 9800, on October 10, 1969. It was retired on August 31, 1972, and preserved at Albuquerque. It was transferred to CSRM in 1986.
Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe M.190 was built by Pullman in June 1932, #6407, Electro-Motive in June 1932, #499. It was rebuilt with another EMD diesel in 1949. It was sent to the CSRM and sent to Belen in 2007 for static display.
