Alaculsy Lumber Co.

Tennga Lumber Co.

3 was built by Lima on October 15, 1912, #2593. It was a standard gauge locomotive. In 1917 it became Tennga Lumber Co. 3 also at Conasauga, TN. In March 1919 it was sold to Southern Iron & Equipment Co. as #1466 at Atlanta, GA. On August 22, 1919, it was sold to W. M. Ritter Lumber Co.as Smoky Mountain RR 3 at Proctor, NC. It was later converted to 36" gauge and transferred to the Ritter property at McClure, VA. In 1938 it was sold to Coal Processing Corporation as 3 at Dixiana, VA. In 1960 it was sold to Roaring Camp & Big Timbers as 1.


Alcoa Terminal RR

6, 80 Ton, was built by General Electric in June 1947, #29066.  It was sold to Becker Sand & Gravel Co in 1970.

7, MP15DC, was built by Electro-Motive in February 1980, #786247-1, FN 786247-1, as 10.  It was renumbered 7

8, S3, was built by Alco in January 1952, #79534.  It was sold as Todco 8 in December 1985.


American Creosote Works

8, 45 Ton, was built by General Electric.


Artemus-Jellico Ry.

20 was built by Brill-Mack in November 1921, #21368, 60005, as Lewisburg Milton & Watsonburg Passenger Ry. 20. On November 30, 1928, it became Pennsylvania RR 4738. On January 14, 1931, it was sold to the A-J Ry as 1. In 1941 it became Buffalo Creek & Gauley "A". It was sold at Milton in 1967 and came to the Strasburg RR as 20 in 1977.


Brimstone Railroad

W. M. Ritter Lumber Co.

Brimstone & New River Ry.

The railroad was reorganized as the Brimstone & New River. Shortly afterwards, it was purchased by the Southern. 

Until the mid-1960s there was a coal mining railroad operating out of New River, TN, which had two shay geared locomotives. Jan Girardot took a trip to see this line in June 1960 while he was working at the Indianapolis News. He had use of their elaborate darkroom as an adjunct to his services as AP Wirephoto operator. Here are some of the results to the New River trip. The lady in the photo is his wife, Pat.

35 was built by Lima in August 1910, #2366, as Raleigh & Southwestern RR 35.  It was sold to Smoky Mountain Ry as 35 in January 24, 1921, and then transferred to W. M. Ritter Lumber Co. as 35 in October 1938.  It became Brimstone RR in 1942.  Georgia-Pacific acquired the line and it became Brimstone & New River Ry in July 1965.  It was closed in October 1954 and purchased by Southern Ry. in April 1965.  It was loaned to the Tennessee Valley RR Museum and then to Yolo Short Line RR.  It was sold to Matt Brieve in 1992 and then to Silver Bend Tree Farm in 1995.  It was stored in parts and sold to sold to various individuals in 2010 and 2014.  It was sold to Eskbank Loco Depot and Museum in Augusst 2014..

36 was built by Lima in January 1916, #2804, as W. M. Carney Mill Co. 5. It was returned and rebuilt in 1917,  It later became W. M. Ritter Lumber Co. 36 before coming to the Brimstone where it kept the same number.  It was acquired by the Tennessee Valley RR Museum in 1967. It was leased as Bear Creek Scenic RR between 1973 and 1987,  It was later transferred to the Cass Scenic RR where it will be rebuilt as Cass 10.


Broadway Diner Train

8503 "Silver Chef", diner, was built by Budd in 1956 as Chicago Burlington & Quincy 201 "Silver Chef".  It was sold as Amtrak 8054 "Silver Chef" and renumbered 8503.  It was sold as BWDX 8503 "Silver Chef" in 1994 and resold as Branson Scenic Ry 8503 "Silver Chef" in  1999.

Conasauga River Lumber Co.

112 was built by Lima Locomotive on October 17, 1923, #3241, as Mansfield Ry & Transportation Co 112.  It became Louisiana & Pine Bluff Ry 112 on April 14, 1926, and became Frost Lumber Co 112 on June 6, 1935.  It was sold as CRLCo 112.  It was sold as Graham County RR 1923 "Ole Cliffhanger" in 1966 and sold as Oregon Pacific & Eastern Ry 112 in March 1972.  It was sold as Center for Transportation & Commerce 112 (Galveston Railroad Museum).


Cookeville Depot Museum

509 was built by Baldwin in April 1913, #39553, as Louisiana & Arkansas 403.  It was rebuilt as 509 in 1928 and sold as Louisiana Midland Ry 509 in 1945.  It was transferred as South Shore Ry 509 and transferred as Rapides Gravel Co 509.  It became Mid-State Materials Inc and it was sold to George Silcott Co in 1966.  It was sold to John Thompson in 1968 and resold to J David Conrad in October 1971.  It was resold to Larry Spreckelmeier in December 1973.  It was leased to Whitewater Valley RR in 1974 and sent to Tennessee Valley RR Museum in 1982.  It was sold to CDM in 2002 and displayed as Tennessee Central Ry 509.


Cowan Railroad Museum

100, 44 Ton,  was built by General Electric in June 1950, #30460, as Nashville Chattanooga & St Louis 100, Class DGE-400.  It became Louisville & Nashville 3100, Class S-4, in August 1957 and retired in July 1961.  It was sold to Transportation Services and sold as Tennessee Southern RR 3100.  It was sold as CRM 100 in 2007.


East Tennessee & Western North Carolina RR

East Tennessee Ry.

7735, GP9u, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1954, #18801, FN 5307-5, as Illinois Central 9004.  It was rebuilt at Paducah as Illinois Central Gulf 8004 in July 1968.  It was sold as  Iowa Interstate RR 8004 in October 1984 and renumbered 404.  It was returned to Helm Leasing in June 1994 and sold as ETRY 7735.  It was sold as Louisiana & Delta RR 1707 in December 2009.

7736, GP7u, was built in by Electro-Motive  October 1950, #11992, FN 5045-10, as St Louis-San Francisco 534.  It was sold as PNC and sold as ICG  83.  It was rebuilt as ICG 7736, GP8, in 1975 and sold as ETRY 7736 in 1995.  It was sold as LDRY 1708.


Emory River RR

6940 was built by Baldwin in 1914, #41577, as New Orleans & Northeastern 6940, Class Ms-3.  It was sold as Emory 6940.
