Birmingham Southern RR

Birmingham Terminal Ry.

Organized in 1899 it was opened from Birmingham to Pratt City and extended to Ensley.  It was purchased by Louisville & Nashville and Southern Ry jointly and sold to Tennessee Coal Iron & RR in 1906.  It was later part of United States Steel and took over the Federal Barge Lines in 1966.  In 1988 it sold to Transtar Inc.  It was purchased by WATCo in 2012 and renamed as Birmingham Terminal Ry.

17, SW1000, was built by Electro-Motive in October 1971, #37893, FN 4607-2.  It was wrecked on July 13, 1973, and scrapped.

21, NW2, Class 20, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1948, #5263, FN E890-1, as Lake Terminal RR 1009. In 1962 it became BSRR 21, Class 20, and was sold to American Cast Iron Pipe Co as 102 in February, 1969.

23, NW2, Class 20, was built by Electro-Motive in February, 1948, #5266, FN E890-4, as LTRR 1012. In 1962 it became BSRR 23, Class 20. They sold it to Birmingham Rail & Locomotive in December, 1967, who resold it to the Marinette Tomahawk & Western as 62 in January 1968. MT&W sold this locomotive to Republic Steel Corp. in April 1981, as 162.

24, NW2, Class 20, was built by Electro-Motive in March 1948, #5267, FN E890-5, as LTRR 1013. In 1962 it became BS 24, Class 20, and was sold to ACIPCo as 104 in February 1969.

82, Class 80, HH900, was built by Alco in March 1937, #68788. It was sold to ACIPCo as 103 in December 1963.  It was donated to Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum in 1985 and restored as BS 82.

154, RS3, was built by Alco in October 1955, 381686, as Federal Barge Line RR 61.  It was sold as BS 154 and renumbered 254.  It was sold as Goodpasture Grain Co 83 604.  It was sold as Agri Industries 83 604 and sold as Intercontinental Terminal 83 604.  It was sold as Woodhouse Terminal 83 604.

200, SW1200, was built by Electro-Motive in September 1952, #23983, FN 4408-1.  It was sold as Conrad Yelvington Industries 305.

201, SW1200, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1957, #23984, FN 4408-2.  It was sold as ACIPCo 2nd 103.

210, SW1000, was built by Electro-Motive in October 1967, #33186, FN 7070-1, and was formerly 10.  It became WATCo as WAMX 1703.

212, SW1000, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1969, #34472, FN 7143-1, and was formerly 12.  It was transferred as Fairfield Southern 212 on February 1, 2013, and traded as WAMX 1706 in 2013.

213, SW1000, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1969, #34473, FN 7143-2, and was formerly 13. It became WAMX 1704.

218, SW1001, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1973, #72666-1, FN 72666-1, and was formerly 18.  It was transferred as FSRR 218.

219, SW1001, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1973, #72666-2, FN 72666-2, and was formerly 19.  It was transferred as FSRR 219.

220, SW1001, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1974, #73680-1, FN 73680-1.  It was transferred as FSRR 220.

221, SW1001, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1974, #73680-2, FN 73680-2.  It was transferred as FSRR 221.

222, SW1001, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1974, #73680-3, FN 73680-3.  It was transferred as FSRR 222.

223, SW1001, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1974, #73680-4, FN 73680-4.  It was transferred as FSRR 223.

224, SW1001, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1974, #73680-5, FN 73680-5.  It was transferred as FSRR 224.

225, SW1001, was built by Electro-Motive in October 1974, #74642-1, FN 74642-1.  It became WAMX 1702 and traded as FSRR 225.

226, SW1001, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1972, #38840, FN 4611-1, as Newburgh & South Shore 1020.  It sold as BSRR 226 and was transferred as FSRR 226.

243, RS1, was built by Alco in May 1943, #70817, as Chicago Rock Island & Pacific 743, Class S-62.  It was sold to Hyman-Michaels Co in March 1968 and resold to Birmingham Rail & Locomotive Co in 1968.  It was sold ac Chattahoochee Valley Ry 743 in 1968 and sold as BSRR 743 on September 3, 1973.  It was renumbered 243 in October 1973 and resold as South Hopkins Coal Co 243 "Jiggs".  It was then sold to George R Silcott Co and resold as Sidney & Lowe RR  243.  It was sold to Oklahoma Railway Museum in 1989 and restored as Rock Island 743.

260, MP15, was built by Electro-Motive in August 1976, #766014-1, FN 766014-1.  It became WAMX 1593.

261, MP15, was built by Electro-Motive in August 1976, #766014-2. FN 766014-2.  It became WAMX 1592.

302, SW7, was built by Electro-Motive in September 1950, #12720, FN 6163-1, as Woodland Iron Co 50.  It was sold as BSRR 202 and renumbered as 302.  It was sold to Metal Management Co as MLMX 302 and scrapped.

303, slug, was built by Electro-Motive.  It was transferred as FSRR 303.

304, slug, was built by Electro-Motive in March 1953, #17996, FN 6593-9, as Mississippi Central 209, SW9.  It became Illinois Central 1243 in March 1968 and was rebuilt at Centralia in 1981 as slug 55.  It was sold to National Railway Equipment Co and sold to Indiana Harbor Belt PB5 in 1995.  It was sold to Larry's Truck Electric Co in 2005 and sold as BSRR 304 in February 2006.  It was transferred as FSRR 304.

305, slug, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1952, #16437, FN 4184-11, as IC 9330, SW9.  It was renumbered 1230 in September 1957 and rebuilt at Centralia in 1981 as slug 59.  It was retired in 1990 and sold to NRE.  It was sold as IHB PB4 in 1995 and sold to LTE in 2005.  It was sold as BSRR 305 in February 2006 and transferred as FSRR 305.

316, NW2, was built by Electro-Motive.

351, SW1500, was built by Electro-Motive in February 1972, #7355-7, FN 7355-7, as Penn Central 9516, Class ES-15.  It became Consolidated Railroad Corp 9516, Class SW-1500, in April 1976 and sold as Bessemer & Lake Erie 151.  It was transferred as BSRR 351 and transferred as FSRR 351.

352, SW1500, was built by Electro-Motive in March 1972, #7355-47, FN 7355-47, as PC 9556, Class ES-15.  It became Conrail 9556, Class SW-1500, in April 1976 and sold as B&LE 152.  It was transferred as BSRR 352 and transferred as FSRR 352.

353, SW1500, was built by Electro-Motive in August 1967, #33129, FN 7997-7. as Southern Pacific 2469, Class ES415-1.  It was sold to National Railway Equipment Co and sold as BSRR 353.  It was sold to WATCo as WAMX 1532.

354, SW1500, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1970, #36486, #4584-2, as Minnesota Transfer Ry 306.  It was sold to National Railway Equipment Co as NREX 306 and sold as BSRR 354.  It became WAMX 1533.

355, SW1500, was built by Electro-Motive in June 1971, #37068, FN 4592-1 as St. Marys RR 503.   It was sold as BSRR 355 and transferred as FSRR 355.

360, SW1504, was built by Electro-Motive in June 1973, #712675, FN 72667-7, as Nacionales de Mexico 8807, Class DE-34.  It became Class E-73-1500HP, and sold as David J Joseph Co 8807.  It was renumbered 1506 planned as Cleveland Works Ry 1506 but traded to Larry's Truck Equipment Co as LTEX 1506.  It was sold as Birmingham Southern RR 360 and became Watco Inc as WAMX 1534 in 2013.

370, MP15, was built by Electro-Motive in August 1976, #766000-1, FN 766000-1, as United States Steel Corp 170.  It was sold BSRR 370 and became WAMX 1591.

371, MP15, was built by Electro-Motive in August 1976, #766000-2, FN 766000-2, as USSX 967.  It was sold as LTEX 967 and later was rebuilt as 1502.  It was sold as BSRR 371.  It became WAMX 1589.

372, MP15, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1976, #756119-1, FN 756119-1, as USSX 955.  It was sold as LTEX 1503 and sold as BSRR 372 in December 2005.

373, MP15, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1976, #756156-1, FN 756156-1, as STMA 505.  It was sold as BSRR 373 and became WAMX 1590.

381, SW8, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1950, #13259, FN 6188-1, as Tennessee Coal Iron & RR Co 750.  It became USSX 750 and later renumbered 81.  It was transferred as BSRR 381 and sold as Tube City Inc 81.

383, SW8, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1950, #13261, FN 6188-3, as TCI&R 752.  It became USSX 752 and later renumbered 83.  It was transferred as BSRR 383.

603, SW1001, was built by Electro-Motive in March 1976, #756071-3, FN 756071-3, as Union RR 103.  It transferred as BSRR 603 and transferred as FSRR 603.

629, SD9, was built by Electro-Motive in March 1957, #23117, FN 5525-19, as Duluth Missabe & Iron Range 129, Class RS-2. It was transferred to BSRR as 629 in July 1996.

650, SD9, was built by Electro-Motive in March 1958, #23930, FN 5555-20, as DM&IR 150, Class RS-3. It was transferred to BSRR as 650 in 1997.

700, GP38-2, was built by Electro-Motive in December 1972, #72614-1, FN 72614-1, as Elgin Joliet & Eastern 700.  It was leased to BSRR in March 1985 and sold as BSRR 704 in July 1987.  It became WAMX 3875.

701, GP38-2, was built by Electro-Motive in December 1972, #72614-2, FN 72614-2, as EJ&E 701.  It was leased to BSRR in March 1985 and sold as BSRR 701 inJuly 1987.  It became WAMX 3876.

702, GP38-2, was built by Electro-Motive in December 1972, #72614-3, FN 72614-3, as EJ&E 702.  It was leased to BSRR in March 1985 and sold as BSRR 702 inJuly 1987.  It became WAMX 3877.

704, GP38-2, was built by Electro-Motive in October 1973, #73618-1, FN 73618-1, as EJ&E 704.  It was leased to BSRR in February 1985 and sold as BSRR 704 in July 1987.  It became WAMX 3878.

711, GP35u, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1964, #28477, FN 7695-16, as Southern Pacific 7423, Class DF-623.  It was renumbered 6535, Class EF425-1, in 1966 and then rebuilt in 1979 as 6338, Class EF425N-1.  It was rebuilt as Cedar Rapids & Iowa City 111, and sold as BSRR 711.  It became WAMX 3873.

714, GP35u, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1965, #30139, FN 7785-6, as SP 7732, Class DF-626.  It was renumbered 6629, Class EF425-4, in 1966 and then rebuilt in December 1979 as 6355, Class EF425K-1.  It was rebuilt as CIC 114, and sold as BSRR 714.  It became WAMX 3874.
