& Northwestern RR
In 1986, the former service of the Southern Pacific was dropped. The rail
line was owned under Texas rights. So the new service was provided by RailTex
under the A&NW. But the service was later offered to other companies.
8, SW1200R, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1942, #2352, FN E586-2,
as Phelps-Dodge Corp 8, NW2. It was rebuilt by
Electro-Motive as SW1200R. It was sold to RailTex as A&NW 8 and
transferred as
14, SW9, was built by Electro-Motive in February 1952, #11735, FN 6112-3, as MKT 1228. It was renumbered 14 in 1958 and rebuilt by Electro-Motive. It was later sold to A&NW as 14 and sold to Inter-Rail Transport as IRTX 1002 in 1998.
15, SW9, was built by Electro-Motive in February 1952, #11736, FN 6112-4, as MKT
1229. It was renumbered 15 in 1958
and rebuilt by Electro-Motive in May 1961.
It was later sold to A&NW as 15.
33, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1955, #20519
44, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1956, #22075
55, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1956, #22069, FN 5469-2, as D&RGW 5932, Class DE B-B 61. It was retired on April 10, 1984, and sold to Mid America Car in June 1984. It was leased as Kyle 5932 in July 1984 and resold to Railtex in December 1986. It became A&NW 55 in May 1987 and later was sent to Central Oregon & Pacific where it was retired in September 1996. The frame was sold and rebuilt as Boise Locomotive Co MPEX 1501 on May 14, 1997.
66, GP35m, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1964, #28772, FN 7694-1, as Texas & Pacific 600. It was renumbered 2500 in 1974 and it became Missouri Pacific 2500 in 1976. It then rebuilt to 2250 HP as 2617 in January 1981. It was retired in August 18, 1986, and was sold by Wilson Ry Corp in January 5, 1987. It was leased to Kiamichi RR as 3804 and returned in April 1988. It was attempted to resold to Texas-Mexican RR as 869 in November 1988 but never delivered. It then went to Azcon. They sold it to Railtex, who sent it to the A&NW as 66. It was rebuilt as a slug mother in March 1993 and assigned to the Dallas Garland & NorthEastern 66. In 1996 it was transferred to the Goderich-Exeter RR as 66 and renumbered 3834 in 1998.
171, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1958, #24104, FN 5565-5. as Great Northern RR 730, Class GP-9. It became Burlington Northern 1803, Class GP-9, in 1970 and retired on April 27, 1987. It was sold on August 13, 1987, to Wilson Ry Corp and then as Intermountain Transportation Services 171 in September 1988. It was renamed as Intermountain Western 171 and later sold as A&NW 171. It was later sold to National Railway Equipment and then as Western RR 171 in December 2000.
172, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in September 1955, #20864, FN 5413-18, as Chesapeake & Ohio 5955, Class MRSE-17. It was reclassified Class GP-9 in 1964 and became Western Maryland 5955, Class GP-9 in April 1976. It was assigned CSX Transportation 0286. It was later sold to IW as 172 and then purchased by Railtex and assigned to A&NW as 172. It came to Dallas Garland & NorthEastern 172 in May 1996. It was rebuilt by C&F Locomotive Service as a slug relettered HHLC 172 with no info on the name. It was then sold as Rochester & Southern 807.
173, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in March 1959, #25105, FN 5595-6, as Southern Pacific 5805, Class DF-612. It was renumbered 3668, Class EF418-8. in 1966 and rebuilt as 3849, Class EF418-R4, in 1977. It was sold as IW 173 and then purchased by Railtex and assigned as AUNW 173.
174, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1954, #19476, FN 5334-5, as Texas & New Orleans 244, Class DF-601. It was renumbered SP 3415, Class EF418-2, in 1966 and rebuilt on July 18, 1972, as 3359, Class EF418E-2. It was sold to Wilson Railway Supply on March 28, 1988, as shop switcher 1 and renumbered 60. It was sold as IW 174 in 1989 and sold to Railtex as AUNW 174. It was transferred as DGNO 174 in May 1996 and transferred as Virginia Southern 174. 244, Class DF-601.
