Indiana Transportation Museum

1 was built H K Porter Co in June 1950, #8266, as Indianapolis Power & Light Co 1.  It was donated to the ITM and moved to the Hesston Steam Museum.

"1" was built by General Electric in 1898, as Singer Sewing Machine Co 3.  It was purchased by Bob Selle in 1955 when the plant was closed and it was brought to North Chicago, IL, where it was stored with the Illinois Electric Railway Museum.  When Bob moved back to Indiana, it was sent to the Indiana Transportation Museum who show it as 1 in error.

50, SW1, was built by Electro-Motive on February 4, 1942, #1597, FN E460-1, as Chicago Indianapolis & Louisville (Monon) DS50.  It was sold to United Electric Coal Co as 1 in February 1947.  It was sold to Indiana Transport Museum and restored as CIL 50.  It was transferred to Noblesville to Logansport and the trucker hit a bridge at Logansport in December 2018.

55 was built by Detroit United Ry. in 1927 as 2009. It was purchased in 1935 as Cedar Rapids & Iowa City 55. In 1955 it was purchased for preservation by the ITM.

68-B, F7B, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1950, #10340, FN 3053-B6, as Chicago Milwaukee St Paul & Pacific 63-B, Class 15E-P.  It was retired in May 1980 and sold to ITM in May 1983.  It was stored.

69 was built in 1869 as Citizens Street Ry and was a mule car.  It was exhibited.

72-A, F7A, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1950, #10317, FN 3035-A7, as CMStP&P 72-A, Class 15E-F. It was sold to the ITM and planned to be overhauled.

81 was built by Jewett Car Co in 1902 as Indianapolis & Martinsville Rapid Transit 61.  It became Terre Haute Indianapolis & Eastern Traction Co 81 in 1907 and rebuilt 1917 and rebuilt in 1923 as 81 "Central Normal".  It became Indiana RR 81 in 1930  The body was acquired by ITM in 1978.

83-A, F7A, was built by Electro-Motive in December 1950, #11803, FN 3036-A4, as CMStP&P 110-C, Class 15E-F.  It was later renumbered 83-A and retired in May 1980.  It was sold to ITM in May 1983 and repainted as Monon RR 83A.  It was later repainted as Nickel Plate Road 83A.

91, 44 Ton, was built by General Electric in September 1950, #30472, as Boyne City RR 70.  It was sold to ITM and restored as New York Chicago & St Louis 91.

96-C, FP7A, was built by Electro-Motive in January 1951, #10362, FN 3073-A2, as CMStP&P 96-C, Class 15E-P.  It was retired in May 1980 and went to ITM.  It was lettered as Monon 96 and stored.

99, VO1000, was built by Baldwin in April 1945, #72006, as Crane Naval Base 9.  It was renu,bered as U S Navy 65-00075.  It was sold to ITM and restored as Chicago New York & St Louis 99.

153 was built by Brill Car Co in September 1933, #23078, as Indianapolis Rys 153.  It was retired in 1953 and the body was acquired by ITM in 1972.

154 was built by General Electric in September 1915, #3848, for Portsmouth Street RR & Light Co. It was acquired by the Evanston & Ohio Valley Ry in 1920 and numbered 154. When the line was abandoned in 1946, it was sold to Cook Transit Co. as 301. Cook Transit was the remaining portion of the ES&N mentioned above. After Cook shut down, it was acquired by the ITM.  It was scrapped in 2018.

172 was built by Cincinnati Car in September 1920, #2455, as Chicago North Shore & Milwaukee 172.  It was acquired by Anderson Railroad Club for John Horachek in 1963 and purchased by ITM in 1967.  It was sold to Illinois Railway Museum in 2018.

200, GP9, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1954, #19201, FN 5321-A71, as Union Pacific 200.  It was sold to Rail Car Corp in May 1980 and sold to Dixie RR as 200 in August 1987.  It became Great Smoky Mountain RR as 200 in September 1988 and sold to Central RR of Indianapolis as 200 in 1993.  It was renumbered 1755 in 1994 and sold as ITM 200.

205 was built by Pullman in 1927, #6073, as Chicago South Shore & South Bend 205.  It was lengthened in 1948.  It was sold to National Park Service in 1984 and resold to ITM in 1984.

426, GP7, was built in July 1953, #18594, FN 5296-4, as New York Chicago & St Louis 426, Class ERS-15C.  It became Norfolk & Western 2426 in March 1967 and sold as Peabody Coal Co 600.  It was sold to ITM and restored as NKP 426.

429 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1925, #1344, as Union Traction of Indiana 429, "Noblesville".  It became Indiana RR 429 in 1930 and rebuilt in 1936.  It was retired in 1940 and the body was acquired by ITM in 1968.

437 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1925, #1344, as UTI 437 "Marion",  It became IRR 429 in 1930. It was rebuilt in 1936 and retired in 1940.  The body was acquired by ITM in 1981.

587, Class H-6-o, was built by Baldwin in September 1918, #49683, as Lake Erie & Western 5541.  It became New York Chicago & St Louis NKP 587, Class H-6-o, in April 1923, and donated to City of Indianapolis on September 7, 1955.  It was leased to ITM in October 1983.  It was transferred to Kentucky Steam Heritage in 2018.

606 was built by Cincinnati Car Co in 1923, #2760, as Indianapolis & Cincinnati Traction 606.  It was sold to Union Traction of Indiana 447 in 1929 and became Indiana RR 447 in 1930. The body was acquired by the ITM at Noblesville in 1977.  It was scrapped in 2018.

S-606 was built by Cincinnati in January 1923, #2620, as Chicago North Shore & Milwaukee 606. In 1963 it became Chicago Transit Authority S-606 and burned in 1978. The remains were sold to the ITM.  It was later sold to RAIL Foundation in 2018.

867, SW1, was built by Electro-Motive in March 1939, #1039, FN E298-1, as Chicago Milwaukee St Paul & Pacific 1613, Class DE-6.  It was reclassified as Class 6E-S.  It was renumbered 963 in 1959 and 867 in January 1973.  It was sold to Cargill Inc as CRGX 867 and was sent to ITM.  It was planned to be restored as MILW 867, but it was scrapped on July 3, 2018..

4256 was built by Cincinnati Car in 1922, #2660, as Chicago Rapid Transit Co 4256.  It became Chicago Transit Authory 4256 in 1947.  It was sold to ITM in June 1979 and apparently was retired.

4257 was built by Cincinnati Car in 1922, #2660., as CRT 4257.  It was sold to the Michigan Transportation Museum on April 1, 1975, and sold as ITM 4257 later.  It was scrapped in 2018.

4293 was built by Cincinnati Car in 1922, #2660, as CRT 4293.  It became CTA 4293 in 1947.  It was sold to ITM on August 16, 1976, and it was sold to RAIL Foundation in 2018.

4315 was built by Cincinnati Car in 1922, #2660, as CRT 4315.  It became CTA 4315 in 1947.  It was rebuilt as S-355 on December 2, 1965, and sold to ITM in November 1978.  It was scrapped in 2018.

4381 was built by Cincinnati Car in 1924, #2860, as CRT 4381. It became CTA 4281 in 1947.  It was rebuilt as S-354 on December 20, 1965, and sold to ITM in November 1978.  It was scrapped in 2018.

4388 was built by Cincinnati Car in 1924, #2860, as CRT 4388.  It became CTA 4388 in 1947.  It was retired on December 9, 1975, and sold to ITM in June 1979.  It was scrapped in 2018.

4390 was built by Cincinnati Car in 1924, #2860, as CRT 4390.  It became CTA 4390 in 1947.  It was rebuilt as S-369 on February 18, 1972, and sold to ITM in June 1979.  It was scrapped in 2018.

4429 was built by Cincinnati Car in 1924, #2860, as CRT 4429.  It became CTA 4429 in 1947.  It was rebuilt as S-357 on December 2, 1965, and sold to ITM in November 1978.

4453 was built by Cincinnati Car in 1924, #2860, as CRT 4453.  It was acquired by ITM in 1974 and sold to East Troy Electric Ry in 1995.

4454 was built by Cincinnati Car in 1924, #2860, as CRT 4454.  It was acquired by ITM in 1974 and scrapped in 2018.

5004 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1947, #1737, as CTA 5004.  It was renumbered 54 in 1963 and names "John Paul Jones" temporarily in 1976.  It was acquired by Indiana Transportation Museum in 1986.  It was scrapped.
