6400-6499
6400, Class SD-45, was built in July 1966, #31951, FN 7890-1, as Northern Pacific 3600. It became BN 6400, Class SD-45, in 1970 and was sold as National Helm Leasing Corp 6400. It was leased as Utah Ry 6400 in July 1989 and returned as NHL 6400. It was then rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen as MKCX 9413.
6406, Class SD-45, was built in April 1967, #33027, FN 7987-3, as NP 3606. It became BN 6406, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in February 1985.
6410, Class SD-45, was built in April 1967, #33031, FN 7978-7, as NP 3610. It became BN 6410, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in June 1984. It was sold to Precision National Corp in July 1984.
6415, Class SD-45, was built in May 1967, #33036, FN 7978-12, as NP 3615. It became BN 6415, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in August 1984.
6417, Class SD-45. was built in May 1967, #33038, FN 7978-14 as NP 3617. It became BN 6417, Class SD-45, in 1970 and was sold to Gulf & Mississippi as 6417 in December 1986. It was sold to Wisconsin Central Ltd as 6417 in December 1987. It was later renumbered 6495 and still later rebuilt as 7495. It was acquired by Lake Superior Railroad Museum and restored as NP 3617.
6422, Class SD-45, was built in April 1968, #33902, FN 7094-3, as NP 3622. It became BN 6422, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in June 1983.
6430, Class SD-45, was built in May 1966, #31598, FN 7871-1, as Great Northern 400, Class SD-45. It became BN 6430, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in November 1985. Since it was named "Hustle Muscle" and it was the first 3600 HP locomotive, it was given to the GNRHS and restored.
6438, Class SD-45, was built in May 1966, #31603, FN 7871-6, as GN 405, Class SD-45. It became BN 6438, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in November 1986. It was sold for scrap to Pielet Brothers in March 1987.
6442, Class SD-45, was built in April 1967, #32992, FN 7963-5, as GN 412, Class SD-45. It became BN 6442, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in June 1986. It was sold for scrap to Pielet Brothers in March 1987.
6443, Class SD-45, was built in April 1967, #32993, FN 7963-6, as GN 413, Class SD-45. It became BN 6443, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in February 1985. It was sold for scrap to Azcon Corp in March 1985.
6445, Class SD-45, was built in April 1967, #32995, FN 7963-8, as GN 415, Class SD-45. It became BN 6445, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in December 1986. It was sold to Pielet Brothers and sold as National Helm Leasing Corp 6445. It was resold as Montana Rail Link 6445 in July 1989 and renumbered 351
6448, Class SD-45, was built in July 1968, #33785, FN 7088-1, as GN 418, Class SD-45. It became BN 6448, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in August 1983. It became BN 6448, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in August 1983. It was sold as Chicago & North Western 6587 in January 1984 and retired on May 14, 1996.
6451, Class SD-45, was built in July 1968, #33788, FN 7088-4, as GN 421, Class SD-45. It became BN 6451, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in October 1983. It was sold to C&NW and became 6570 on January 30, 1984. It was retired November 19, 1987, and sold to VMV in October 1989. It was resold to Morrison-Knudsen and rebuilt as MPI 9025 in 1990. It was transferred as MK 9025 and back as Motive Power International 9025 and as Helm Leasing 9025 in May 1996.
6455, Class SD-45, was built in July 1968, #33792, FN 7088-8, as GN 425, Class SD-45. It became BN 6455, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in October 1983. It was sold to C&NW and became 6574 on February 5, 1984. It was retired November 19, 1987, and sold to VMV in October 1989. It was rebuilt by MK Rail on January 11, 1995, as Southern Pacific 8618, a SD40M-2. It was assigned Union Pacific 4644 and became UP 2694 on November 25, 2003.
6457, Class SD-45, was built in January 1969, #34551, FN 7147-1, as Chicago Burlington & Quincy 516. It became BN 6457, Class SD-45, in 1970, and was returned to the leasor in February 1984. It was sold to C&NW and became 6576 on August 12, 1984. In June 1994 it was sold to National Ry Equipment as 6576 and later rebuilt as SP 8612, SD40M-2, on September 8, 1994. It then was assigned UP 4658 and became UP 2688 on January 21, 2004.
6460, Class SD-45, was built in January 1969, #34554, FN 7147-4, as CB&Q 519. It became BN 6460, Class SD-45, in 1970 and was returned to the leasor in February 1984. It was sold to C&NW and became 6579 on February 28, 1984. It was retired on November 19, 1987, and sold to VMV in October 1989. It was then sold to Morrison-Knudsen as 9508 and then to Helm Leasing as 7001. It was again sold to Wisconsin Central Ltd as 6633. It was finally sold to Larry's Truck Equipment Co and scrapped.
6461, Class SD-45,was built in January 1969, #34555, FN 7147-5, as CB&Q 520. It became BN 6461, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in February 1984. It was sold to C&NW in July 1984 and became 6580 on September 27, 1984. It was retired on November 19, 1987 and sold to VMV in October 1989. It was sold to MK and rebuilt as Motive Power International 9026. It was transferred as MK 9026 and back as MPI 9026. It was sold as Helm 9026 in May 1966.
6463, Class SD-45, was built in January 1969, #34558, FN 7147-8, as CB&Q 522. In 1970 it became BN 6463, Class SD-45, and was returned to the leasor in February 1984. It was sold to C&NW and became 6582 on September 17, 1984. It was sold to NRE in June 1994 as 6582 and then was rebuilt by MK on October 12, 1994, as SP 8668, as SP40M-2. It was assigned UP 4694, Class SD40M-2, and became UP 2744 on June 12, 2003. It was retired on October 12, 2010, and sold as National Railway Equipment Co as NREX 2744 in April 2014.
6466, Class SD-45, was built in January 1969, #34560, FN 7147-10, as CB&Q 525l It became BN 6466, Class SD-45, in 1970 and was returned to the leasor in February 1984. It was sold as C&NW 6585 on September 20, 1984. It was sold as NREX 6585 in June 1994 and rebuilt by MK on October 14, 1994, as SP 8669, as SD40M-2. It then was assigned as UP 4695 and became UP 2745 on October 5, 2001.
6476, Class SD-45, was built in June 1970, #36365, FN 7261-5, as planned as Northern Pacific 3634. It was built as BN 6476, Class SD-45, and retired in June 1985. It was leased as C&NW 6476 in December 1985 and retired on November 19, 1987. It was sold to VMV in October 1989 and rebuilt as Kansas City Southern 617 to SD40-3 standards in August 1995. It was renumbered 3150 and sold as Allegheny Valley RR 3001 in June 2008.
6477, Class SD-45, was built in July 1970, #36366, FN 7261-6, as planned as NP 3635. It was built as BN 6477, Class SD-45, and was returned to the leasor in June 1985. It was sold to Chicago & North Western and became 6477 in December 1985 and retired on November 19, 1987. It was sold to VMV in October 1989 and sold to Morrison-Knudsen as 9501. It as sold to WCLtd as 6632 and sold to Larry's and scrapped.
6482, Class SD-45, was built in July 1970, #36371, FN 7261-11 as planned as NP 3640. It was built as BN 6482, Class SD-45 , and was retired in June 1985. It was leased to C&NW 6482 in September 1986. It was later retired and sold to Helm as 6505.
6483, Class SD-45, was built in August 1970, #36372, FN 7261-12. It was retired in June 1985 and sold to Scrap Service.
6489, Class SD-45, was built in August 1970, #36378, FN 7261-18. It was sold to New York Susquehanna & Western as 6366 in January 1986 and planned as 3616 but not renumbered. It was sold later to Naporano Iron & Metal Co in September 1993. It was sold to Montana Rail-Link as 362.
6491, Class SD-45, was built in August 1970, #36380, FN 7261-20. It was retired in June 1985 and sold as C&NW 6491 in October 1985. It was retired on November 19, 1987, and sold to VMV in October 1989. It was rebuilt by MK Rail on November 11, 1994, as SP 8622, a SD40M-2. It was assigned 4648 and became UP 2698, Class SD40M-2, on December 17, 2003.
6494, Class SD-45, was built in August 1970, #36796, FN 7279-3. It was sold to Pielet Bros in March 1987 and later in 1987 resold to WCLtd as 6494.
6496, Class SD-45, was built in August 1970, #36798, FN 7279-5. It was sold to Azcon Corp in December 1986 and resold as National Helm Leasing 6496 in March 1987. It was sold at Morrison Knudsen as MKCX 9529 and rebuilt at Hornel as SP 8620, SD40M-2, on January 24, 1996. It became UP 2696. Class SD40M-2, on April 15, 2004. It was retired on October 12, 2010, and sold as National Railway Equipment Co as NREX 2696 in April 2014.
6498, Class SD-45, was built in May 1971, #37106, FN 5773-1. It was sold to WCLtd as 6498 in December 1987. It was later renumbered 6500 and later rebuilt as 7500.
6499, Class SD-45, was built in May 1971, #37107, FN 5773-2. It was sold to National Railway Equipment Co in April 1987 and later to WCLtd as 6499. It was later renumbered 6503 in 1993. It was retired and scrapped/
