Electro-Motive SW8 Diesels

8604, Class  SW-8, was built in February 1952, #15500, FN 4109-3, as New York Central 9604, Class DES-19b.  It was renumbered 8604, Class ES-8, in 1966 and became Penn Central 8604, Class ES-8, in 1968.  It became Conrail 8604, Class SW-8, in April 1976 and retired on April 11, 1991.  It was sold to Larrys Truck Equipment and rebuilt as 905.  It was leased to J&M Locomotive and became Warren Consolidated Industries 829.

8606, Class SW-8, was built in February 1952, #15502, FN 4109-5, as NYC 9606, Class DES-19b.  It was renumbered 8606, Class ES-8, in 1966 and became PC 8606, Class ES-8, in 1968.  It became Conrail 8606, Class SW-8, in April 1976, and retired on April 11, 1991.  It was sold to Andrew Merrilees in May 1993.

8618, Class ES-8, was built in February 1953, #16193, FN 4144-11, as NYC 9618, Ckass DES-18c.  It was renumbered 8618, Class ES-8, in 1966 and became PC 8618, Class ES-8, in 1968.  It became Conrail 8618, Class SW-8, in April 1976, and and sold to Larry Ttruck Equipment as LTEX 8618 in 2003.  It was sold to North Shore Railroad in 2004 as Lewisburgh & Buffalo Creek RR  1500.  It was sold to Strasburg RR as 8618 in 2008.

8619, Class SW-8, was built in February 1953, #16194, FN 4144-12, as NYC 9619, Class DES-18c.  It was renumbered 8619, Class ES-8, in 1966 and became PC 8619, Class ES-8, in 1968.  It became Conrail 8619, Class SW-8, in April 1976, and sold as Berkshire Scenic Ry 8619 in 1985.

8669, Class SW-8, was built in December 1950, #13156, FN 6185-6, as Lehigh Valley 255, Class DS-4.  It was reclassified Class ESM-8 in 1962 and latet became Conrail 8669, Class SW-8, in April 1976.  It was sold as North Shore RR 365 in August 1987.

8670, Class SW-8, was built in August 1951, #14027, FN 4092-1, as LV 256, Class DS-4.  It was reclassified Class ESM-8 in 1962 and later became Conrail 8670, Class SW-8, in April 1976..  It was retired on April 11, 1991, and assigned as Conrail Leasing Co 101.  It was sold as Maryland & Delaware RR 801.

8671, Class SW-8, was built in September 1951, #14028, FN 4092-2, as LV 257, Class DS-4.  It was reclassified Class ESM-8 in 1962 and later became Conrail 8671, Class SW-8, in April 1976.  It was sold as New Jersey Steel Co 008 in 1986 and became Co-Steel Sayersville Co 008.

8682, Class SW-8, was built in September 1951, #14493, FN 4104-5, as LV 268, Class DS-4. It was later reclassified Class ESM-8 and later became Conrail 8682, Class SW-8, in April 1976. It was retired on April 11, 1991, and sold to AG Processing Co as 6. When the Sherman plant was closed, it was sold to Archer-Daniel-Midland as 8682 in 2001.

8685, Class SW-8, was built in September 1951, #14496, FN 4104-8, as LV 271, Class DS-4.  It was reclassified Class ESM-8 in 1962 and later became Conrail 8685, Class SW-8, in April 1976.  It was retired on April 11, 1991.

8689, Class SW-8, was built in December 1952, #16972, FN 6409-1, as LV 275, Class DS-4.  It was reclassified Class ESM-8 in 1962 and later became Conrail 8686, Class SW-8, in April 1976.  It was sold as National Railway Passenger Corp 750 and sold to Independent Locomotive Services.

8693, Class SW-8, was built in August 1951, #14067, FN 4096-4, as Delaware Lackawanna & Western 504.  It became Erie Lackawanna 364, Class SE-8, in 1960 and became Conrail 8693, Class SW-8, in April 1976.  It was sold as Honey Creek RR 8693 in 1993.

8700, Class SW-8, was built in May 1953, #17886, FN 6487-2, as DL&W 511. It became EL 371, Class SE-8, in 1960 and Conrail 8700, Class SW-8, in April 1976.  It was scrapped at Hollidaysburg, PA.
