Compania de Luz Fuerza y Traccion de Veracruz

Cooperativa de Transportes Urbanos y Sub Urbanos de Veracruz

This system apparently began in 1907 and was socialized in 1932. Abandonment seems to have occurred quietly in the early 1980s.

It wasn't too many years ago that a traveler to Veracruz could go back in time by riding the trolleys, many of which came from north of the border. Here is a selection of photos taken while the line was still running.

1 was rebuilt into a closed car from one of the open cars. It looks like, but is not, a Birney.

6 was built by Brill in 1908 and went to the Texas Transportation Museum at San Antonio in 1964. I have heard that it was mounted on a truck chassis. What a shame. It is here shown on the Texas Transportation Co. line at the Pearl brewery. It was later sent in pieces to the Fort Smith Trolley Museum for restoration in 1995.

8 was built by Brill in 1908.  It was rebuilt in 1976 as 001 and leased to the San Francisco Trolley Festival between 1976 and 1985.  It is now on display at Vera Cruz.

9 was built by Brill in 1908.  It went to Trolleyville in Ohio in 1961 and sent to Lake Shore Electric Museum in 2006.  It was sold to Fort Smith Trolley Museum in 2009.

15 was built by Brill in 1915.  It was placed on display at Villahermosa, Mexico in 1981.

19 was built by Brill in 1914. It went to Trolleyville in Ohio in 1961 and sent to Lake Shore Electric Museum in 2006.  It was sold to Illinois Railway Museum in December 2009.

The 40 series cars came from the Connecticut Co., but appear to be somewhat modified.
