Electro-Motive SW1500 Diesels

 

68 was built by Electro-Motive in July 1966, #31590, FN 7869-2, as Kentucky & Indiana Terminal RR 68. It was taken over by Southern as 68 in 1982 and sold to Wisconsin Central Ltd as 1559 in April 1994.

71 was built by Electro-Motive in February 1968, #33770, FN 7086-2, as K&IT 71.  It was taken over by Southern as 71 in 1982 and sold to WCLtd as 1561 in April 1994.

73 was built by Electro-Motive in March 1971, #36862, FN 7286-2, as K&IT 73.  It was taken over by Southern as 73 in 1982 and sold to WCLtd as 1563 in April 1994.  It was donated to National Railroad Museum by Canadian National on November 13, 2019.

76 was built by Electro-Motive in March 1971, #36865, FN 7285-5, as K&IT 76.  It was taken over by Southern as 76 in 1982 and sold to WCLtd as 1565 in April 1994.

80, SW1500, was built by Electro-Motive in October 1973, #73603-1, FN 73603-1, as K&IT 80.  It became Southern 80 in 1982 and sold to Helm Leasing Corp as HLCX 1016 in June 1996.  It was sold to WATCo as WAMX 1505.

81 was built by Electro-Motive in October 1973, #73603-2, FN 73603-2, as K&IT 81.  It became Southern 81 in 1982 and sold to Helm in June 1996.  It was rebuilt at Metro East Industries as  Union Pacific 1025, Class SW1500, on April 4, 1997, and assigned in December 1999 as Y1025 but retired on March 11, 2002.  It was sold as Larry's Truck Equipment 1025 in May 2005.

83 was built by Electro-Motive in January 1974, #73635-2, FN 73635-2, as K&IT 83.  It was taken over by Southern as 83 in 1982.  It was the last SW1500 built.

2300 was built by Electro-Motive in November 1968, #34474, FN 7139-1.  It was sold to Helm Leasing in June 1996 and rebuilt at Metro East Industries as UP 1023 on May 22, 1997.  It was assigned in December 1999 as Y1023 but not done and retired on March 11, 2002.  It was sold as HLCX 1023 and sold as Brandywine Valley Ry 1023.

2306 was built by Electro-Motive in November 1968, #34480, FN 7139-7.  It was transferred as Norfolk & Portsmouth Belt Line RR 2306.

2307 was built by Electro-Motive in November 1968, #34481, FN 7139-8.

2308 was built by Electro-Motive in November 1968, #34482, FN 7139-9.  It was sold to Helm Leasing in June 1996 and rebuilt at Metro East Industries as UP 1015 on November 19, 1996.  It was assigned in December 1999 as Y1015 but not done and retired on March 11, 2002.

2310 was built by Electro-Motive in November 1968, #34484, FN 7139-11.

2315 was built by Electro-Motive in November 1968, #34489, FN 7139-16.  It was sold as Belt Ry of Chicago 537 and resold as Railway Equipment Leasing Co RLCX 1500.

2316 was built by Electro-Motive in November 1968, #34490, FN 7139-17.  It became Norfolk Southern 2316, Class SW1500, and sold to National Railway Equipment Co as NREX 2316 on September 8, 2012.

2317 was built by Electro-Motive in November 1968, #34491, FN 7139-18.  It was sold as Motive Power Inc 2317 and later reported as Old Line Holding Co 2317.

2318 was built by Electro-Motive in November 1968, #34492, FN 7139-19.  It was sold as Georgia & Florida Ry 2318.

2319 was built by Electro-Motive in November 1968, #34993, FN 7139-20.   It was sold to Helm Leasing in June 1996 and rebuilt at Metro East Industries as UP 1029 on December 31, 1997.  It was renumbered Y1029 on June 14, 2001, and retired on July 1, 2002.

2320 was built by Electro-Motive in December 1968, #34496, FN 7139-21.  It became NS 2320, Class SW1500, and sold as Bighorn Divide & Wyoming RR 1001.

2322 was built by Electro-Motive in December 1968, #34496, FN 7139-23.

2324 was built by Electro-Motive in December 1968, #34498, FN 7139-25.

2325 was built by Electro-Motive in December 1968, #34499, FN 7139-26.  It was sold as Helm Leasing Corp 1512 and sold as Neptune Bulk Terminal 1512 in 2004.  It was renumbered 802 and sold as National Railway Equipment Co 802 in September 2011.

2327 was built by Electro-Motive in December 1968, #34501, FN 7139-28.  It was sold to Helm Leasing in June 1997 and rebuilt at Metro East Industries as UP 1028 on December 6, 1997.  It was renumbered Y1028 on June 27, 2001, and returned to Helm on April 7, 2003, as HLCX 1028.

2329 was built by Electro-Motive in December 1968, #34503, FN 7139-30.  It was sold as Wisconsin Central Ltd 1566 in April 1994.

Southern Rail Terminals of Alabama 2330 was built by Electro-Motive in November 1969, #35283, FN 4563-1.  It became NS 2330, Class SW1500, and sold as NREX 2330 on September 8, 2012.

Interstate RR 2331 was built by Electro-Motive in November 1969, #35283, FN 4563-2.  It became NS 2331, Class SW1500, and sold as NREX 2331 on September 13, 2012.

2332 was built by Electro-Motive in November 1969, #35285, FN 4563-3.  It became NS 2332, Class SW1500, and sold as NREX 2332 on September 13, 2012.

2333 was built by Electro-Motive in November 1969, #35286, FN 4564-1.  It became NS 2333, Class SW1500, and sold to Helm Leasing Corp as HLCX 1514.  It was sold as WAMX 1514.

New Oleans Terminal 2335 was built in November 1969, #35288, FN 4564-3.  It became Southern 2335 and became NS 2335, Class SW1500.  It was sold to Helm Leasing in June 1997 and rebuilt at Metro East Industried as Union Pacific 1030, Class SW1500, on February 6, 1998.  It renumbered Y1030 on May 7, 2001, and retired on April 7, 2003.  It was returned as HLCX 1030 in June 1996.  It was sold to WATCo as WAMX 1510.

2336 was built by Electro-Motive in December 1969, #35289, FN 4564-4.  It became NS 2336, Class SW1500, and sold to North Shore RR.  It was numbered 1946 in July 2012.

2337 was built by Electro-Motive in November 1969, #38290, FN 4564-5.  It became NS 2337, Class SW1500, and sold to Ronald M Delivan Indusries and became BDLX 2337.  It was sold to Progress Rail Services as PRLX 2337.

2338 was built by Electro-Motive in March 1970, #36130, FN 4574-1.  It became NS 2338, Class SW1500, and sold as NREX 2338 on September 13, 2012.

2339 was built by Electro-Motive in March 1970, #36131, FN 4574-2.  It became NS 2339, Class SW1500, and sold as NREX 2339 on September 13, 2012.

Central of Georgia 2341 was built by Electro-Motive in March 1970, #36133, FN 4574-4.  It became NS 2341, Class SW1500.  It was sold as Neptune Bulk Terminals as 2341 in 1991 and renumbered 801.  It was sold as NREX 801 in 2022 and sold to General American Transportation as GMTX 156 in February 2013.

CofG  2343 was built by Electro-Motive in March 1970, #36135, FN 4582-1.  It became NS 2343, Class SW1500, and retired in March 2012.  It was sold as NREX 2343 on September 8, 2012.

CofG 2344 was built by Electro-Motive in March 1970, #36136, FN 4582-2, as CG 2344.  It became NS 2344, Class SW1500, and sold as NREX 2344 on September 17, 2012.

CofG 2346 was built by Electro-Motive in March 1970, #36138, FN 4582-4, as CG 2346.  It became NS 2346, Class SW1500, and sold as NREX 2346 on September 8, 2012.

CofG 2347 was built by Electro-Motive in March 1970, #36139, FN 4582-5, as CG 2347.
