Denver & Rio Grande RR

Standard Gauge Steam Locomotives

583, Class 100, was built by Baldwin in September 1890, #11207.  It became Denver & Rio Grande Western 683, Class C-28, in 1924 and sold as San Luis Valley Southern RR 103 in 1947.  It went to Colorado RR Museum in 1962 and restored as D&RG 583.

635, Class 120, was built by Baldwin in 1889, #10280, as Rio Grande Western RR 113, Class 113.  It was reclassified Class 20S in 1898 and reclassified Class 120 in 1901.  It became D&RG 635, Class 120, in 1908, and became D&RGW 604, Class C-26, in 1924.  It was sold to Victor American Fuel Co in July 1951.

759, Class 179, was built by Baldwin in July 1902, #20431, as 1010, Class 179, a Vauclain Compound. It was renumbered to 759 on November 23, 1908. It was rebuilt in 1911 as a single expansion locomotive as shown here. It became D&RGW 759, Class T-31, in 1924.  It was wrecked on August 20, 1925, 1 1/2 mile south of Granite, CO, doubleheading with locomotive 787 on Train 7. It collided with Train 8, locomotive 778.  It was retired in October 1925 and scrapped at Burnham in March 1926.

789, Class 184, was built by Alco-Brooks in September 1909, #46425. It became D&RGW 789, Class T-29, in 1924 and scrapped in December 1947.

803, Class 74, was built by Baldwin in 1881, #5572, as D&RG 401 "Grand River", Class 70, narrow gauge.  It was rebuilt as 803, Class 74, standard gauge, in 1889 and returned as 405, Class 74, in 1900.  It became D&RGW 345, Class C-19, in 1924 and wrecked for a movie on July 17, 1951.  It was scrapped on September 15, 1951.

840, Class 149, was built by Baldwin in May 1907, #30725. It became D&RGW 59, Class S-33, in 1924 and was used as a shop switcher without tender at times.  It was dismantled in August 1952.

1003, Class 261, was built by Baldwin in February 1913, #39146.  It became D&RGW 803, Class P-44, in 1924 and scrapped in May 1950.

1004, Class 261, was built by Baldwin in February 1913, #39147.  It became D&RGW 804, Class P-44, in 1924 and scrapped in August 1953.

1051, Class 340, was built by Alco-Schenectady in January 1910, #46718. It became D&RGW 3301, Class L-62, on January 21, 1924. It was retired in July 1950 and scrapped at Salt Lake City.

1052, Class 340, was built by Alco-Schenectady in January 1910, #46719. It became D&RGW 3302, Class L-62, on January 20, 1924. It was retired in August 1952 and scrapped at Salt Lake City.

1068, Class 458, was built by Alco-Schenectady in 1913, #52046.  It became D&RGW 3408, Class L-96, in 1924 and scrapped in April 1951.

1075, Class 458, was built by Schenectady in 1913, #52053. It was renumbered D&RGW 3415, Class L-96, in January 1924 and retired in July 1947.

1102, Class 190, was built by Baldwin in 1908, #20520.  It became D&RGW 1002, Class C-41, in 1924 and scrapped in September 1952.

1103, Class 190, was built by Baldwin in 1902, #20521. It became D&RGW 1003, Class C-41, in 1924.  It was rebuilt in 1930 as 497, Class K-37, narrow gauge 2-8-2., and was sold as Cumbres & Toltec Scenic RR 497, Class K-37, in March 1981.

1114, Class 190, was built by Baldwin in 1902, #20695. It became D&RGW 1014, Class C-41, in 1924.  It was rebuilt in 1928 as 490, Class K-37. narrow gauge 2-8-2.  It was retired in 1962 and scrapped in 1963.

1116, Class 190, was built by Baldwin in 1902, #20697.  It became D&RGW 1116, Class C-41, in 1924 and scrapped in March 1949.

1120, Class 190, was built by Baldwin in 1902, #20748.  It became D&RGW 1020, Class C-41, in 1924.  It was rebuilt in 1928 as 494, Class K-37, and retired in 1962.  It was sold as C&TS 494, Class K-37, in 1970.

1121, Class 190, was built by Baldwin in 1902, #20749. It became D&RGW 1021, Class C-41, in 1924.  It was rebuilt in 1928, as 492, Class K-37, and was sold as C&TS 492, Class K-37, in July 1970.

1122, Class 190, was built by Baldwin in 1902, #20750.  It became D&RGW 1022, Class C-41, in 1924 and scrapped in 1946.

1126, Class 190, was built by Baldwin in 1902, #20829.  It became D&RGW 1026, Class C-41, in 1924.  It was rebuilt in 1928 as 491, Class K-37.  It was donated to Colorado Historical Society in 1972 and sent to Colorado RR Museum in 2000.  It was rebuilt for operation in 2014.

1131, Class 220, was built by Alco in 1906, #39013.  It became D&RGW 1131, Class C-48, in 1924 and scrapped in October 1947.
