Great Northern

Electro-Motive SD45 Diesels

400, SD45, Class SD-45, was built by Electro-Motive  in May 1966, #31598, FN 7871-1.  It became Burlington Northern 6430, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in November 1985.  Since it was named "Hustle Muscle" and it was the first 3600 HP locomotive, it was given to the Lake Superior Railroad Museum and restored.

405, SD45, Class SD-45, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1966, #31603, FN 7871-6.  It became BN 6438, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in November 1986.  It was sold for scrap to Pielet Brothers in March 1987.

412, SD45, Class SD-45, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1967, #32992, FN 7963-5.  It became BN 6442, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in June 1986.  It was sold for scrap to Pielet Brothers in March 1987.

413, SD45, Class SD-45, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1967, #32993, FN 7963-6.  It became BN 6443, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in February 1985.  It was sold for scrap to Azcon Corp in March 1985.

415, SD45, Class SD-45, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1967, #32995, FN 7963-8.  It became BN 6445, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in December 1986.  It was sold to Pielet Brothers and sold as National Helm Leasing Corp 6445.  It was resold as Montana Rail Link 6445 in July 1989 and renumbered 351

418, SD45, Class SD-45, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1968, #33785, FN 7088-1.  It became BN 6448, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in August 1983.  It was sold as Chicago & North Western 6587 in January 1984 and retired on May 14, 1996.

421, SD45, Class SD-45, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1968, #33788, FN 7088-3.  It became BN 6451, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in October 1983.  It was sold to C&NW and became 6570 on January 30, 1984.  It was retired November 19, 1987, and sold to VMV in October 1989.  It was resold to Morrison-Knudsen and rebuilt as MPI 9025 in 1990.  It was transferred as MK 9025 and back as Motive Power International 9025 and as Helm Leasing 9025 in May 1996.

425, SD45, Class SD-45, was built by Electro-Motive in July 1968, #33792, FN 7088-8.  It became BN 6455, Class SD-45, in 1970 and retired in October 1983.  It was sold to C&NW and became 6574 on February 5, 1984.  It was retired November 19, 1987, and sold to VMV in October 1989.  It was rebuilt by MK Rail on January 11, 1995, as Southern Pacific 8618, a SD40M-2.  It was assigned Union Pacific 4644 and became UP 2694 on November 25, 2003.
