Maine Trolley Lines

Androscoggin & Kennebec Ry.

 

The A&K was a country trolley line serving Lewiston & Augusta, ME. They had some rather nice looking cars. Special thanks to Bob Townley who provided roster information.

122 was built by Wason Car Co in 1920.

138 was built by Wason Car Co in 1920.

180 was built by Wason Car Co in 1922.

182 was built by Wason Car Co in 1922.  It was sold as Third Avenue Ry 1246 in April 1934 and renumbered 1228 in 1934.  It was scrapped in July 1948.

184 was built by Wason Car Co in 1922.  It was sold as TARS 1229 in 1934.

186 was built by Wason Car Co in 1923.

190 was built by Wason Car Co in 1923.

And what line would not have Birneys? 224 was built by Wason in 1919, #103F.

51 was built by Brill in August 1909, #16890.

54 was built by Baldwin-Westinghouse in September 1924, #58023. It was sold as Cornwall Street Ry 8 in 1946. It also went to St. Lawrence Iron & Metal on June 12, 1973, for scrap.

70 was built by Wason Car Co in 1912.  It was purchased by Seashore Trolley Museum in 1946 and restored as serviceable.

71 was built by Wason Car Co in 1912.  It was purchased by Seashore Trolley Museum in 1946.

100 was built by Laconia Car Co in 1906.  It became York Utilities Co 100 in 1922 and retired in 1949.  It was sold to Seashore Trolley Museum

108 was built by Laconia Car Co in 1902 as Portsmouth Dover & York Street Ry 108.  It became ASL 108 in 1906 and rebuilt as a line car.  It became YU 108 in 1922 and retired in 1949.  It was sold to Seashore Trolley museum and later restored as PD&Y 108.

Bangor Railway & Electric Co.

6 was built by Wason Car Co in 1922, #134.  It was sold as Johnstown Traction Co 305 in 1941 and scrapped in 1957.

Biddeford & Saco RR

31 was built by Brill Car Co in 1900.  It was retired in 1939 and acquired by Seashore Trolley Museum.

44 was built by Wason Car Co in 1922, #104B, as Exeter Hampton & Amesbury Street Ry 4.    It was sold as BSRR 44 in 1929 and retired on July 5, 1939.


Portsmouth Dover & York Street Ry.

108 was built by Laconia Car Co in 1902.  It became Atlantic Short Line 108 in 1906 and rebuilt as a line car.  It became York Utilities Co 108 in 1922 and retired in 1949.  It was sold to Seashore Trolley Museum and later restored as PD&Y 108.

80 was built by American Car Co in 1919, #1198,  as Denver & South Platte Ry 1.  It was sold to YU as 80 in 1926 and retired in 1947.  It was sold to Seashore Trolley Museum and later restored as D&SP 1.
