North Carolina Transportation Museum

 

Raleigh & Gaston RR "Raleigh" , replica, was built by the Seaboard Air Line shops in 1927.  It was donated to NCTM in 1965.

Carolina Power & Light Co 3 was built by H K Porter Co in February 1937, #7239.  It was donated to NCTM in October 1980.

North Carolina Ports Authority L3, 45 Ton, was built by General Electric in 1943.  It was retired in 1980 and given to NCTM.

W R Bonsal Co 7 was built by H K Porter in 1942, #7486, as United States Army 5012.  It was sold as WRBX7 in 1947 and donated to NCTM in February 1979.  Restoration has been working.

Atlantic Coast Line 501, E6A, Class DEP, was built in November 1939, #959, FN E335-A1.  It was built as E3A but it was wrecked before it was delivered.  It was rebuilt as E6A.  It became Seaboard Coast Line 501 in July 1967 and retired in 1970.  It was sold to Glenn Monhart and restored as ACL 501.  It was sold to North Carolina Department of Transportation in 1998 and leased to North Carolina Transportation Museum.

Southern Ry 542 was built by Baldwin in August 1903, #35351.  It was donated to City of Winston-Salem and and acquired by North Carolina Transportation Museum.

NCTM 604 was built by Baldwin in September 1926, #59472, as Ferrocarril Mexicano 200. It was never delivered to them and then was sold to the Buffalo Creek & Gauley later in 1926. After the BC&G quit running it was sold to the Quakertown & Eastern for excursion service as 4 in 1967.  It was sold to Carter-Cash Enterprises in February 1972 and sold to Southwest Virginia Scenic RR 4 in April 1975.  It ran 2 years and sold to NCTM and lettered as 604 in a Southern Ry style in 1978.  It needed heavy repair and no funds in 2011 so it was sold to Durbin & Greenbrier Valley RR in 2015 where it is being restored .

Atlantic Coast Line 1031, Class K-15, was built by Baldwin in June 1913, #39884.  It was sold as Virginia & Carolina Southern 1031 in 1952 and transferred as East Carolina RR 1031.  It was donated to City of Florence SC in 1959 and donated to NCTM in 1993,

Graham County Ry 1925 was built by Lima Locomotive in February 1925, #3256.  It was donated to NCTM.

Seaboard Air Line 5458 was built in 1926.  It was rebuilt in 1962 and donated to NCTM.
