Chicago West Pullman & Southern RR
The CWP&S was a switching road on the far south side of Chicago. It almost seemed like an in-plant road for the steel mills in the area. I visited the road in 1948 and found steam still being used, but most activity seemed to be hauling slag to nearby dumps. Now the railroad is a part of Chicago Rail Link.

37, SW1, was built by Electro-Motive in September 1942, #1741, FN E489-4, as Chicago & North Western 1210. It was renumbered 615 on August 23, 1971, and sold to CWPS as 37 when it was retired.
38, SW1, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1953, #18101, FN 4177-1, as C&NW 1268. It was retired on June 1, 1978, and sold to Wilson-Cramer Locomotive. They sold it to CWPS as 38. It was later sold to Midwest Steel Co.
39, SW1, was built by Electro-Motive in May 1953, #18105, FN 4177-5, as C&NW 1273. It was retired on November 10, 1977, and sold to Wilson-Cramer. They sold it to CWPS as 39. It was later sold to Hollis & Eastern as 39.
40, S2, was built by Alco in October 1944, #72854. It was later sold to Republic Steel Co. as 154 in 1961.
40, SW8, was built by Electro-Motive, August 1951, #14567, FN 6264-4, as Cincinnati Union Terminal Co 33. In 1970 it was sold to CWPS as 40. It was later sold to U. S. Steel Co. as 40 in May, 1976.
41, S2, was built by Alco in November 1949, #77824. It was later sold to Republic Steel Corp. as 155.
41, SW8, was built by Electro-Motive in August 1951, #14566, FN 6264-3, as Cincinnati Union Terminal 32. In 1970 it was sold to CWPS as 41.
42, SW8, was built by Electro-Motive in June 1951, #14282, FN 6247-1. It was rebuilt by Electro-Motive in 1967. It later was sold to International Harvester Co. as 42 in April 1975. It was sold to U. S. Steel Co. as 41 on March 4, 1976.
43, SW8, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1952, #16825, FN 6381-1. It became Chicago Rail Link 43 in 1996.
44, SW8, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1952, #16826, FN 6381-2. It later was sold to IHCo. as 44 in August 1974. It was later sold to Alter Scrap Co. as 1.
45, SW8, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1952, #16827, FN 6462-1. It was later sold to Georgia Woodlands Ry as 45.
46, SW8, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1952, #16828, FN 6462-2. It became CRL 46 in 1996.
47, SW8, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1952, #16829, FN 4193-1. It was sold to Bayou Steel Co as 47 in July 1981.
48, SW8, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1952, #16830., FN 4193-2. It was sold to Empire Coke Co as 48 and sold as Watco 48 in 2007.
49, NW2, was built by Electro-Motive on September 10, 1948, #5757, FN E945-5, as Detroit Toledo & Ironton 910. It was purchased by CWPS as 49 in May 1961. It was later sold to Dierks Forests Inc as D10 in 1969 and later became Texas Oklahoma & Eastern D10.
50, NW2, was built by Electro-Motive in September, 1948, #5758, FN E945-6 as DT&I 911. It was purchased by CWPS as 50 in May, 1961. It was later sold to Acme-Newport Steel Co. as 5. It later became Interlake Steel Co 5 later Newport Steel Co. 5.
51, SW9, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1953, #17997, FN 6503-10, as Mississippi Central RR 210. It was purchased in February 1966 by CWPS as 51.
