Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe

Alco Passenger Locomotives

Like so many other roads, the Santa Fe bought one prewar DL109. The only railroad to buy more than one was the New Haven. Some roads, including the Santa Fe also got one of the B Unit DL110s. There are those who feel this is one of the finest looking locomotives due to the long swept back nose. There might have been more built if World War II hadn't changed the locomotive market. EMD was granted the right by the government to build road units. Alco got the switchers.

50L, Class 50, was built in May 1941, #69339. It was scrapped, along with the B unit, on October 4, 1960.

After the war, road locomotive construction was resumed. The first passenger units were only 1750 HP as compared with the 2000 HP of the DL109 and DL110. I don't have pictures of the 51 which was rebuilt with General Motors power.

Then came the 2000 HP PA's.

Do you realize that Jesus is there in the tabernacle expressly for you --- for you alone?  He burns with the desire to come into your heart.
