Under Construction

Dayton & Troy RR

The D&T opened a 20 mile line between Dayton and Troy, OH, in 1901. In 1902 they signed a perpetual lease on the 11 mile Miami Valley Ry between Troy and Piqua which had been built in 1893. The line was almost entirely on private right-of-way escept in town and operated more as a railroad than as a local interurban. They had interchange agreements with the Western Ohio and the Toledo Bowling Green & Southern and operated as the "Lima Route". Modernization with lightweight equipment came in 1929, but bankruptcy occured in March 1932. There was a substantial loss of traffic when the WO abandoned in January 1932. On August 3, 1932, the bridge over the Miami River at Dayton collapsed under the weight of a freight motor and trailer. The receiver moved to abandon the line immediately, and the last car ran on August 10, 1932.
