Small St. Louis Cars 1101-1423

 

These cars were built by St. Louis Car in 1903 and 1906 for Chicago Union Traction Co. They are similar to the Robertson design without the small windows. Cars of this series were converted to one man operation in later years and have a wide horizontal stripe on the front to denote this. Two were used for an experimental articulated train.  A number of these cars were converted to sand and salt service and as flangers.

1200 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4729.  It was renumbered 1200 in 1913 and became CSL 1200 in 1914.  It was retired on May 17, 1937.

1201 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4730.  It was renumbered 1201 in 1913 and became CSL 1201 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as a salt car in November 1931 and restored to passenger service on March 6, 1943.  It was retired on November 30, 1946.

1202 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4731.  It was renumbered 1202 in 1913 and became CSL 1202 in 1914.  It was retired on May 13, 1937.

1203 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4732.  It was renumbered 1203 in 1913 and became CSL 1203 in 1914.  It was retired on September 23, 1946.

1204 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4733.  It was renumbered 1204 in 1913 and became CSL 1204 in 1914.  It was retired on December 27, 1946.

1205 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4734.  It was renumbered 1205 in 1913 and became CSL 1205 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA32 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on December 14, 1956.

1206 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4735.  It was renumbered 1206 in 1913 and became CSL 1206 in 1914.  It was burned at Devon Barn on January 26, 1922.

1207 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4736.  It was renumbered 1207in 1913 and became CSL 1207 in 1914.  It was burned at Devon Barn on January 26, 1922.

1208 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4737.  It was renumbered 1208 in 1913 and became CSL 1208 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as a salt car in November 1931 and returned to passenger service on March 4, 1943. It was rebuilt as W55, work trailer, and retired on October 12, 1946.

1209 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4738.  It was renumbered 1209 in 1913 and became CSL 1209 in 1914.  It was retired on June 9, 1947.

1210 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4739.  It was renumbered 1210 in 1913 and became CSL 1210 in 1914.  It was retired on August 20, 1941.

1211 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4740.  It was renumbered 1911 in 1913 and became CSL 1211 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as a salt car in November 1931 and wrecked on January 30, 1939, at 111th and Sacramento when hit by a Grand Trunk Western train.  It was scrapped on March 8, 1939.

1212 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4741.  It was renumbered 1212 in 1913 and became CSL 1212 in 1914,  It was rebuilt as a salt car in November 1931 and returned to passenger service on February 20, 1943.  It was retired on December 7, 1946.
