Motor Cars

The KNR still had a number of motor cars which were in use in 1953-4. Here is a sample of some of them.

1 looks like it came from General Electric with a Wason body. I doubt if it really did, since the Japanese were known to copy American prototypes from time to time. This car was used as a business car.

4 was almost identical and also used as a business car.

76 used on some local runs or as trailing coach on some trains.

77 was used on some local runs or as trailing coach on some trains.

Late in 1953 or early in 1954, it appears that the motor cars were renumbered into the 100s.

102 looks almost like something from American Car & Foundry in the 1930s.

103 looks like it was in the 70 series. It was in the back shop where it had just been given a major overhaul and painting.

106 looks like it was in the 70 series. It shows a patch where the number was changed.

231.

Is it not a wonderful thing, that He is the Lord and Author of all liberty, would thus be bound with ropes and nailed hand and foot unto the Cross?
