Toledo & Eastern RR

 

The Toledo Port Clinton & Marblehead built from Genoa to Port Clinton, OH, in 1904, and it extended to Marblehead in 1905. Cars entered Toledo on the city car line tracks. In 1912 it became the Northwestern Ohio Railway & Power Company until 1924, when it was purchased by Ohio Public Service Co. Several cut backs took place in 1925, but the line ran passenger service until July 11, 1939. Freight service continued. In 1945, OPS sold the rail line to the T&E after the line east of Clay Center was scrapped. This left 11 miles of line hauling dolomite from Clay Center to the Wheeling & Lake Erie and coal to Ryan for a Toledo Edison power plant. When the coal was shifted to water, the line was abandoned in 1958.

6 was probably a Niles car.

21 was built by Niles in 1903 for the Toledo Port Clinton & Lakeside. It was acquired by Eastern Ohio NRHS in 1939 and went to Ohio Railway Museum in 1945.

40 was built by Niles in 1905   It was rebuilt as a work car later and served as T&E 40 until 1958.  It was then acquired by Buckeye Lake Trolley.

41 was built by Niles in 1906.  It was rebuilt in 1944.

50 was built by Niles in 1905 as Sandusky Norwalk & Mansfield 5. It came as OPS 50 in 1921, and was rebuilt.

60 was built by Kuhlman in March 1923, #807

61 was built by Kuhlman in March 1923, #807.

63 was built by Kuhlman in March 1923, #807.

64 was built by Kuhlman in July 1924, #830, and was originally 41 for the line between Shelby and Mansfield. When that line was abandoned it came to the Toledo line where it was renumbered 64. It is now preserved at the Ohio Railway Museum.

79 was built by the Toledo Port Clinton & Lakeside as 78. It became Northwestern Ohio Ry & Power Co 78 in 1912. It came back to the OPS as 78 and was later renumbered 79.

80 was built by Alco-General Electric in June 1912, #51031, 3815, as Wilkes-Barre & Hazelton Ry 400. In 1934 it became OPS 80, and T&E 80 in 1945.

81 was built by Baldwin-Westinghouse in June 1913, #39988, as International Ry P-3. It came to the T&E as 81 in 1950.

90 was built by Niles in 1905 as Sandusky Norwalk & Mansfield 4. It came as OPS 90 in 1921 and was rebuilt several times.
