278-A, FA2, Class A-F-A, was built in November, 1950, #78270, as American Locomotive Co 1602-A. In 1951 it became GN 278-A, Class A-F-A. It was traded in to General Electric in May 1968.
279-A, FA2, Class A-F-A, was built in November 1950, #78271, as Alco 1602-B. In 1951 it became GN 279-A, Class A-F-A. It was traded in to General Electric in May 1968.
