PUREE-8 2-6-2T
This group of locomotives was built in several batches. The first, 1 thru 22, were apparently built at Yongsan beginning in 1932 thru 1938, and were numbers 351 thru 372 prior to the 1938 renumbering. 23 thru 38 were built by Nippon and Keijo in 1938 and 1939. This information is from Peter Clark. James Heffner's list shows a total of 279 2-6-2Ts of all classes. 169 went to South Korea and 110 to North Korea at the division in 1947. 38 was taken during its liberation from the North. It is not certain which side had it after the pull-back later that year. The emblem on the side is/was the NKNR emblem.
These locomotives were used as switchers and for local and suburban passenger runs.
