The company was begun in 1878 and changed its name in 1884. In 1951 it was taken over by the Muni. For a complete history of this company please visit The Cable Car Home Page.

 

5 was built by Kimball Car in 1877 and was destroyed in the 1906 earthquake.

7 was built by Hammond Car in 1906.  It was sold to Gridley Realty on October 16, 1956, and placed on a motor chassis.

10 was built by Hammond Car in 1906.  It was rebuilt after a May 1926 major wreck.  It was retired in the 1950s as a children's zoo and scrapped in 1985.

11 was built by Hammond Car in 1906. It was sold to Gridley Realty on October 16, 1956, and placed on a motor chassis.

13 was built by Hammond Car in 1906.  It was sold and became part of a restaurant in Charleston, SC.  It was sold to the Generaltion Gap Antique Center in Bryon, GA.  Presently it is being part of the decor of a restaurant in Dallas, TX (???)

16 was built by Hammond Car in 1906.  It was taken over by Municipal Railways of San Francisco in 1951 and was renumbered 60 in 1957.   It was rebuilt in 1968 and retired.

18 was built by Hammond Car in 1906.  It was taken over by Muni in 1951,  It was renumbered 3 in September 1957 and renumberd 52 in October 1957.  It was stored and then scrapped in 1984.

21 was built by Hammond Car in 1906.  It was taken over by Muni in 1951 and was given to Travel Town.

38 was built by Hammond Car in 1906 as 24.  It was rebuilt in 1911 as 38 and sold to a party in Lakeport, CA.  It was given to the Lake County Fairgrounds Association.

39 was built by Hammond Car in 1906.  It was rebuilt in 1911 as 39 and put on display at a Youth Guidance Center, San Francisco.

41 was built by Holman Car in 1906.  It was sold in 1953.

45 was built by Holman Car in 1907.  It was sold to Damon Trout at Marelco Ranco, OR.  It was sold to and individual at Snowmass Village, Co where it was a fast food stand after 1989.  It is  offered for sale.

47 was built by Holman Car in 1907.  It was sold to Harold Warp, Pioneer Museum, Minden, NE.

51 was built by Holman Car Co in 1906.  It was taken over by Muni in 1951 and retained the same number.

57 was built by CSC in 1914 as CSC 57.  It was taken over by Muni in 1951 and retained the same number.

58 was built by CSC in 1914, as CSC 58.  It was taken over by Muni as 58 in 1951.
