In 1897, 8^TH-MUSKEGO, started at Forest Home and 26^th Ave (31^st St) on Forest Home to Muskego, on Muskego to 11^th Ave (16^th St), on 11^th Ave to Washington, on Washington to Reed (2^nd St), on Reed to West Water (Plankinton), then on 3^rd, State, 7^th, Germania (Reservoir), 8^th, Center and 17^th to Burleigh (Hopkins Rd). In 1899 it was extended on Hopkins to Keefe. In 1902 it was cut back to 8^th & Ring with service replaced by Route 12. In 1905 there was a minor rerouting downtown. In 1908 the north end was rerouted at Burleigh to Teutonia and then to Keefe with the segement on 8^th between Burleigh and Ring discontinued. In 1911 it was extended on Teutonia to Nash. That same year saw the name changed to 8^TH-VIADUCT when the line was moved to the 16^th St Viaduct to Clybourn, 11^th, State, 7^th, and then the regular route was again follows. Washington St was operated as a stub between 11^th Ave (16^th) and Reed until 1913. In 1913 the route was changed to Clybourn to 6^th, Wells, 7^th. In 1920 the name changed back to 8^TH-MUSKEGO. In 1925 it was moved from Wells to State downtown. The line was one manned in 1927 and the north end was extended to Capitol Drive and then to Atkinson. In May 1928 the 16^th Street viaduct was rebuilt. After several months of split operation, a routing was secured over the 6^th Street Viaduct on the North Shore Line using National Ave to 6^th. In 1929 the route was again restored. In 1940 the line was replaced by trackless trolleys.

The north end of the line was Teutonia & Atkinson.
