There are two distinct types of locomotives in this class, and there is no apparent reason that both were included since there is a considerable difference. The first group were built in 1919 by Baldwin, and the second group is similar to the large number of Mikes built for South Manchuria Railway which was owned by North China Transportation Company. Peter Clark indicates that there were 12 of the smaller engines which were numbered 701 thru 712 prior to 1938. James Heffner indicates that 9 survived the war in South Korea, and an unknown number in the North. Peter does not include any of the larger engines in his list, and James' list bulks the Mikes together. My notes are from observations in 1953 and 1954.

The first group of pictures includes the Baldwins.

Susaek was once a large railyard on the north side of Seoul. At the time it became the collection of hulks and a source of parts. We got parts off of the 1 for the 10. The 2 spot and number 8 had plates indicating that they were rebuilt by Kawasaki in 1952.

MK1-1 was built by Baldwin in 1919 as 701.  It was renumbered MK1-1 in 1938.

Numbers for the larger Mikes were scattered with no system known.
